Honestly, I am quite happy with my current services with D&B Hoovers. There are some challenges, but more on my end. The company is so big that I cannot necessary make any decisions for the platform on behalf of the whole company. In addition, we potentially have deals in other countries and I was told that we might get one centralized account. Unfortunately, the company is so big that I wonder if this might have been pushed aside. Therefore, I cannot do anything to improve things and when I do reach out on a global scale, it feels like it gets brushed away.

  • Estimated revenue per company can be quite inaccurate
  • Removing companies that no longer exist or went bankrupt
  • Adding a confidence level for accuracy of data
Many consultants in our company look for a new chaselist whenever they start or are looking to expand into a new market. The D&B Hoovers tool helps a lot when it comes to this. In addition, there are requests that want to see how the market is broken down per industry and we tend to use Hoovers's data as a benchmark to see if it would make sense with our specialties.

D&B Hoovers is an excellent source for us to identify key decision makers for our internal use, and for our clients. The information is easy to access, and the quality of the data is as good as it gets for compiled data. I like being able to identify and search for companies by sector and geography, in addition to by role, seniority, and position.

If you're looking for a comprehensive data set that is extremely accurate on company details, D&B shines. The larger the company or type of company that you're looking for, the better the D&B data is. It's very good at identifying who the key players, and decision makers are. It also excels at identifying the headcount of specific types of companies, and if they have locations domestically and/or internationally, where those locations are located.

I really enjoy the product and find that it is very efficient compared to other products on the market. Our Sales team is the primary user.

  • should be able to save filtered settings in a search so that each time the user does not have to go through and individually select things like industries every time they want to navigate a new search
  • email accuracy is only about 70%
it is very well suited in identifying key decision makers and specific job titles. It is not very well suited for finding companies that are looking for your services.

D&B Hoovers provides information needed to enrich our master data which allows us to do reporting. D&B Hoovers is being used by a group of Data Analysts who used the DUNS no. and other related information to validate the business entity of our customer, partner and prospect records and to perform data enrichment. We are then able assign the company unique code created internally based upon this validation and data enrichment.

We serve clients in a variety of industries. While our internal database of contacts is extensive, sometimes we need to expand our outreach efforts in very specific industry verticals or geographies, often with a specific company or revenue size parameters. For our marketing efforts to be most effective, we need to be able to reach out directly to the decision-makers (C-level) at these companies. D&B has helped our marketing & administrative team pinpoint and build effective target lists tailored to each of our client's desired outcomes.
  • allows you to search within broad industry categories or very detailed subcategories using a variety of methods (NAICS, SIC, D&B's internal coding system, keywords, etc.)
  • Has a variety of personnel that you can view and sort by level, name, or email availability.
  • Oftentimes emails for C-level personnel cannot be located on the company website or easily found elsewhere online.
  • Sometimes the personnel data is outdated.
  • Email accuracy is not the best; perhaps having an indicator of how likely that email is accurate would be helpful.
D&B is well suited for building industry- or geography-specific target lists. It is not always the most efficient/reliable for email contact info.

D&B Hoovers is a good tool that gives real-time data and it is so easy to use. The best part is it gives data for small entities also where we can't find any information on other external tools. The challenges are it is quite costly as it is charged based on every report but they can come up with different pricing.

I use D & B hoovers for gathering information about prospective companies and their decision-makers, I zero in on my prospective company and leads using LinkedIn navigator and then use D & B hoovers to get more information about the company in terms of their revenue, geography, number of employees and their decision-makers. D & B hoovers give information about the specific employees based on their function and designation. I send emails based on this information and pitch my services.

D and B hoovers are best suited when you want to target companies based on their revenue, employee strength, location, and the kind of business the company is doing, this helps to make a cohort and find companies that are most likely to buy you products or services. However, D & B hoovers has some scope for improvement when it comes to getting details of individual decision-makers in those companies. It's not bad but can improve.

I use it for sales and lead opportunities. My sales teams are who primarily use the software. It creates great sales opportunities and offers information and tools to move our sales process forward. It provides new intel that other softwares don't as well as gives us another resource to use to contact potential customers.

For any sales team, it is a great tool to help generate new leads. Sales is all about relationship building but sometimes just having a direct line makes it easier to contact the decision-maker. Any resource that provides direct emails or phone numbers is always beneficial to a salesperson.

Our B2B sales teams need leads, and my job is to fill the sales funnel through email marketing and direct mail. I get my leads through the D&B Hoovers database and am able to drill down to the exact decision-maker I need to approach. Being able to not only have phone numbers but verified email addresses available makes my job easier.
  • Able to find target business decision makers
  • Able to select email addresses only
  • Sorting businesses through a variety of ways is helpful
  • Able to select titles "containing" specific words
  • We should be able to "exclude" words from titles or company names
  • Able to access titles and email addresses more easily - not look at list first, select find matching contacts button, then go back to sort to add titles contain and email addresses, etc. This is a two-step process to get what I need.
Building target lists are crucial in B2B sales. Having accurate information is extremely helpful. I find D&B Hoovers has the most accurate information out there that is continually updated throughout the year. The selection criteria are most helpful in building lists. I find downloading the information as an Excel file or CSV file easy to upload into my software for email marketing or direct mail lists to printers.

D&B is one of our best tools to identify, enrich, enhance our account data, duns numbers and all the related fields. I use it daily and it is great to improve the quality of our data. Account hierarchy, Duns, Immediate parent duns, domestic ultimate DUNS and Global Ultimate DUNS numbers are very important fields to be populated.

Avention is being used to bring in new business to our organization. It is used across the whole organization. It doesn't address any business problems, really, as most of the information can be found through extensive intel searches on our own. However, having Avention makes it easier to obtain the information as it's in one central location.
  • It provides names of the decision makers (very important)!
  • It shows the parent company and lists the locations of all the subsidiaries.
  • It allows us to create filters and lists for our research, which is really helpful.
  • What's really needed is email addresses for the decision makers.
  • I don't like the white background as it's difficult to read the information. The contrasting colors of grey make it even more difficult.
  • Avention should use deeper colors as a background and contrast with brighter colors in the font/text. It would make the perusing of the information easier on my eyes!
