to distribute strategic documents and project work amongst my team.
We use it for pricing and policy reviews, employee reviews, commission statements and other management functions.
We also use it to share retail item photographs for use in out catalogs and display materials.

  • distributed storage
  • a slightly cleaner interface for restoring deleted documents
It is well suited for distributed organizations that need to share documents quickly and securely.
It also serves as a good passive backup utility for key files.

  • It has helped tremendously with restoration of accidentally deleted files.
  • It has made collaboration with remote offices very easy
  • it is a little clunky to setup on machines with limited storage in my opinion.
Much better restoration and access control. Much easier setup.

The fact that it is cloud based makes it easier for us to use at distributed locations and on multiple devices.
I wouldn't change. I am happy with how and what we chose.

It scaled well as my company grew and people took on new roles.
I can access it from anywhere I can get wifi or cell service. The local files are always available.
There sometimes are delays during syncing or delays with integrated software in my experience. This is manageable though.

  • Safe and easy storage within the cloud.
  • Easy to navigate.
  • Gracious bonuses in adding storage.
  • Shouldn't have to purchase additional options such as "Packrat" Unlimited Undo history while on a paid plan. I'm currently on the Pro Plan. It would make perfect sense to have Packrat as a paid option on the Free account, not on a paid one.
  • Dropbox should consider dropping Tweeting a shout-out as an option for Bonus space. "Hawking" Dropbox services for free storage space just cheapens the user experience, IMHO. The option of "E-mailing a Friend" to sign-up in order to obtain bonus space should suffice.
  • I find Dropbox extremely useful and definitely feel secure in using it in my two-year experience.
  • Monthly plans are highly economical for such a necessary service.
  • Ease of use makes daily operations run much smoother.
  • I appreciate the secure measures taken in third-party file sharing.
If it isn't broke, don't fix it, obviously. I've been very comfortable in my current user experience with Dropbox, so some pretty comparable competition [in price & ease of use] would have to come along to get me to switch, basically. I'm a loyalist by nature, so I tend to stick with something until I'm given fair enough reason not to.
Try it. It works for me and I'm quite certain it would serve you well. You would be hard-pressed to beat the price of the monthly packages, too.

Advanced administrative / operations knowledge-base.
  • Safe/ sufficient storage for the multiple hats I wear.
  • Safe file sharing during events where I'm providing online media coverage.
  • Absolutely no problems accessing my files within my two-year experience. So far, so good.
  • Honestly, I don't have any, but I'd like to look into it. I'm always looking to sharpen my levels of expertise. Thanks for planting the seed.

Change management was minimal
I needed to stay current in improving my daily operations. Dropbox was suggested to me by a former colleague two-years ago and I've been using it just fine ever since.

Ok, but not as thorough as on a desktop / laptop, now that you mention it.
It's storage, not rocket science. It's easy, as it should be. I don't consider what minor issues I do have as deal-breakers. Just don't interfere with my experience & I'm perfectly OK.

  • Great for "no thought" file back up
  • Synchronizing files across multiple computers and devices
  • Enabling iOS devices to better handle more file types
  • Share files with others
  • Not a good archive backup system
  • Not a substitute for version control
  • Backing up files in realtime
  • Always having access to relevant working files
It has worked consistently and made life easier

Using it as is.
Easy to set up across devices. The browser UI is pretty basic but works well enough.
I wish file transfer was a little faster at times.
