What is Druva Data Resiliency Cloud?

Druva Data Resiliency Cloud

Workforce mobility and the rise of cloud services is an essential part of any business, but it creates a number of challenges for IT. Data spread across devices and cloud services, unpredictable schedules, and varied network connections all complicate efforts to protect and govern enterprise information.

The Druva Cloud Platform (formerly Druva inSync & Druva Phoenix) provides unified data protection, management, and information governance across endpoints and cloud applications. Delivered as-a-service, the Druva Cloud Platform aims to simplify backup, archival, compliance, and device management to reduce the cost and complexity of protecting end user data, ensure regulatory compliance, and improve data visibility. With centralized management and self-help data recovery, the vendor states that users' mobile workforces are protected without impacting productivity.

Druva's value proposition:

No hardware, no software

  • Delivered as-a-service means leaving behind on-premises infrastructure, hardware refresh cycles and time consuming software maintenance.

Infinitely scalable
  • Built in the cloud, new capacity can be added to subscriptions on the fly without changes to backup settings, and without needing to purchase and install new appliances or software.

No maintenance windows

  • Druva maintains the data protection solution, not the customer; the platform is always up-to-date with the latest features.

Data Protection That’s Different

  • Druva’s SaaS data protection platform boasts less cost and complexity found in solutions that aren’t built for the cloud, while remaining secure, scalable and always available.

Implementation of inSync took about a month. We performed a POC, and an assigned onboarding engineer helped us stand up and configure all aspects of the cloud endpoint backup service. the following year, we added M365 backups. This took maybe 3 hours, including the meeting to discuss licensing, approving the quote/signing the contract, and implementing with a Druva engineer. Phoenix was a larger beast in terms of many regards and took approximately 3 hours. We were less satisficed with the timeline and also the original results. It worked OK, but over the following 2 years we learned there was room for improvement. We worked with our assigned engineer and resolved outstanding performance and configuration issues.

We worked with Druva professional services for our deployment. The initial setup and configuration were completed over a two-day process. There were a few initial things we had to work out on our own side and decide how to handle them. One of the issues we had to decide on was how to sync users from on-premise to Druva as we added them. So, some of it was the design and deployment features we did not consider while we were working on our migration plan. Had we already been fully a cloud-based company with our data, the deployment would have probably gone much faster.

Very smooth onboarding as no extra hardware/software requirements in the office, all done via an admin web portal, basically just need to allow Druva to access O365, then select which data (exchange, SharePoint, one drive, teams, etc) to backup, and then the backup schedule, that's all.

Implementation was easy. As with most well-designed products, integrating with Microsoft 365 is a breeze. Just allow the site to install the app in your tenant and all permissions are set for you - then away you go. We had some support in the first place from Druva to ensure we implemented properly.

The portal was set up quickly, but the instructions to set up AAD sync were a bit ambiguous and I needed to have support from a technical engineer to get everything working correctly. A 10-minute call with a very friendly support tech got the sync up and running, and within a few more minutes the backup jobs had started processing successfully.

Implementation from cloud ranger to Druva Data Resiliency Cloud platform was a seamless integration experience to upgrade the policies and license for continual backup/recovery support. This may be one of the best "set it and forget it" apps for backup solutions, that also allow notifications for failures etc...

The implementation took about 3 months to set up and roll out. We stuck to the schedule and were able to get good cross-training during the process as well. By the time everything was set up, we also knew how to manage the platform and got off to a great start. We were very satisfied with how everything was carried out.

Google apps implementation is done with an admin superuser and requires no end-user input or configuration. Speed of end-user implementation is related only to how fast you can install the client on each user's laptop.
