What is Druva Data Resiliency Cloud?

Druva Data Resiliency Cloud

Workforce mobility and the rise of cloud services is an essential part of any business, but it creates a number of challenges for IT. Data spread across devices and cloud services, unpredictable schedules, and varied network connections all complicate efforts to protect and govern enterprise information.

The Druva Cloud Platform (formerly Druva inSync & Druva Phoenix) provides unified data protection, management, and information governance across endpoints and cloud applications. Delivered as-a-service, the Druva Cloud Platform aims to simplify backup, archival, compliance, and device management to reduce the cost and complexity of protecting end user data, ensure regulatory compliance, and improve data visibility. With centralized management and self-help data recovery, the vendor states that users' mobile workforces are protected without impacting productivity.

Druva's value proposition:

No hardware, no software

  • Delivered as-a-service means leaving behind on-premises infrastructure, hardware refresh cycles and time consuming software maintenance.

Infinitely scalable
  • Built in the cloud, new capacity can be added to subscriptions on the fly without changes to backup settings, and without needing to purchase and install new appliances or software.

No maintenance windows

  • Druva maintains the data protection solution, not the customer; the platform is always up-to-date with the latest features.

Data Protection That’s Different

  • Druva’s SaaS data protection platform boasts less cost and complexity found in solutions that aren’t built for the cloud, while remaining secure, scalable and always available.

Druva Cloud provides backup solutions for our NOC, employee PCs, and cloud services as part of our business continuity plan. inSync's flexibility also fits into our MAC workflows to migrate data when replacing employee PCs and to secure personal company data during employee separations. In our NOC, we use a direct integration with vSphere to back up server VMs and databases.
  • Customer onboarding was fantastic. We were assigned dedicated resources that helped us integrate inSync to our needs, including profile creation and application deployment.
  • Support has been knowledgeable, competent, and motivated to assist us.
  • Pricing is competitive with other solutions, possibly even better.
  • Druva Cloud is currently undergoing a make-over, and the reporting system is a mess. When the upgrades are complete, I expect the reporting experience to be much improved over the previous ones.
  • Phoenix relies on AWS and uses a credit-based consumption cost model that requires predicting usage. Not intuitive and pretty annoying to manage. We have to review annually with our account rep.
inSync's flexibility will appeal to organizations across many industries and use cases. As long as your endpoints somewhat regularly connect to the Internet, backups will be consistent. Since the entire solution is cloud-based, it works regardless of legacy infrastructure (and leadership!) or remote-first workforce. If your endpoints do not connect to the Internet frequently, inSync Cloud will not be especially appropriate. We do not have experience using Phoenix with cloud-native workloads (AWS/Azure instances), but it works great for our on-prem infrastructure.

  • Core component of our business continuity results.
  • Implementation time was about as expected. inSync was in production about a month after signing the contract, and Phoenix for about 3 months (which required seeding a lot of data).
  • Phoenix's native support for database backups allowed us to shift that responsibility to the infrastructure team, which is better equipped to manage than the data team.
Druva Cloud backs up our M365 user data (ExO, OneDrive). It was extremely quick and easy to add to our existing inSync/Endpoint backups, requiring just licensing and a couple of short meetings with our dedicated account engineer. Since it ties in at the M365 tenant level, there is no impact or visibility to users, and no per-user or per-device configuration to perform.
We were happy Mozy Enterprise customers, but when they were purchased by Carbonite we evaluated many solutions. Druva offered better Windows integration than Carbonite and better licensing, pricing, and simplicity compared to the other solutions. Around the same time, we were dissatisfied with our Unitrends hybrid on-prem appliance/hosted NOC DR solution. This was a good opportunity to look at other options. The network and endpoint teams separately liked Druva's respective platforms, and we were able to combine these services into 1 vendor.
Implementation of inSync took about a month. We performed a POC, and an assigned onboarding engineer helped us stand up and configure all aspects of the cloud endpoint backup service. the following year, we added M365 backups. This took maybe 3 hours, including the meeting to discuss licensing, approving the quote/signing the contract, and implementing with a Druva engineer. Phoenix was a larger beast in terms of many regards and took approximately 3 hours. We were less satisficed with the timeline and also the original results. It worked OK, but over the following 2 years we learned there was room for improvement. We worked with our assigned engineer and resolved outstanding performance and configuration issues.
Like any service, there are scheduled maintenance periods and unscheduled outages, however outages have been very limited and fortunately have not had any impact on our environment.
Page response in the admin center is acceptable- rarely are we waiting for data to load. Backup speeds seem fine, and restore speeds are OK considering it's likely pulling data from cold storage. It often takes 30-60 seconds for the restore to begin transferring files, but speeds are acceptable thereafter.

We needed a new backup solution after moving to Office 365. We did not want to bring our backups onsite after moving a large amount of data to the cloud. Druva offered a cloud to cloud backup solution that fit our needs perfectly. Easy to implement, use, and maintain. We have been happy with our decision and have needed to recover information from Druva on more than one occasion. It has worked great every time!

  • We have not found any areas in need of improvement.
Druva fit our request of a cloud to cloud backup solution. We did not want to bring our Office 365 backups back onsite after just moving all of that data to the cloud. It has been a great solution for our Office 365, Sharepoint, and OneDrive for Business backups. We are very happy with the product at this time and plan to keep using it.

  • Affordable solution, but have not calculated ROI.
  • Purchase decision was based on needs, not ROI.
We use Druva for Office 365, Sharepoint, and OneDrive for Business. It has worked great for our needs. We have used it several times to recover items and it has never failed. Would highly recommend the product if you need a cloud to cloud backup solution. We have been very pleased with it so far.
Super easy to add capacity.
We have not used Druva to this extent yet.
We have not used Druva in this capacity at this time.
We considered Spanning but Druva came highly recommended by fellow IT colleagues. We chose it based on personal recommendations and after seeing a demo. It was exactly what we were looking for in our backup solution.

I have clients using Druva inSync for backups of their computers, laptops, and mobile devices. It allows backups at least every 30 minutes and allows for very easy recovery by the end-user.
  • Druva inSync is a very fast and small footprint backup software.
  • Druva inSync enterprise deduplication is efficient and minimizes spaced used across all backed up data.
  • Druva inSync allows for encrypted data, geolocation of devices, and easy deployment.
  • Druva - Come back with your on-premise solution!
I have used Druva inSync for 7 years. I am very upset that the software is now only cloud-based and no longer has an on-premise version. I am highly opposed to cloud-only solutions, but Druva is a fantastic program. If I have to use a cloud solution, I would recommend Druva. I am looking for an on-premise solution to replace Druva but may have to continue using them.
  • Druva backups are fast and easy to use.
  • Druva support is awesome.
I do not use Druva inSync for backing up cloud apps.
I do not use inSync for uncovering non-compliant end user data.
Druva inSync centralized data governance is awesome and easy to use. I have used this to find, recover, and monitor backups.
I used a program called Copiun before Druva and moved to inSync after Copiun went out of business. Druva has been awesome to work with for the last 7 years.
Implementation on-premise was easy to deploy with Druva support.
Druva has continued to support my company and clients by providing peace of mind with excellent backups on each client computer, no matter where they are in the world.
I am not concerned about ransomware with Druva, since the backups cover the critical system data on all client devices.
Druva offers eDiscovery from a central location so I can find files or contents of files across any computer, employee, over any period of time. Turnover is not an issue because I can still find the information I need with Druva.

Druva has used by our organization more than five years. We have been using it for our backup purposes for laptop and mobile devices. It is being used across the whole organization. It address one of our prolonging business issues of data loss due to theft or hard disk failure.
  • The first and foremost thing about Druva is user friendliness for both administrators and users.
  • Easy deployment and upgrades of clients.
  • User is able to recover the data by themselves by using web or client.
  • No performance lagging issues when Druva is installed.
  • Only thing I am expecting are slight security improvements.
  • While doing .pst files backup, it should compress at much as possible. Since these days users have more data in mail than [the] system.
  • After upgrading to new version, the ability to roll back to the older version in case of any issues.
Ask about flexibility of implementation and security of data storage. The user should get the assurance of the data privacy. These are well suited by Druva.
