What is Druva Data Resiliency Cloud?

Druva Data Resiliency Cloud

Workforce mobility and the rise of cloud services is an essential part of any business, but it creates a number of challenges for IT. Data spread across devices and cloud services, unpredictable schedules, and varied network connections all complicate efforts to protect and govern enterprise information.

The Druva Cloud Platform (formerly Druva inSync & Druva Phoenix) provides unified data protection, management, and information governance across endpoints and cloud applications. Delivered as-a-service, the Druva Cloud Platform aims to simplify backup, archival, compliance, and device management to reduce the cost and complexity of protecting end user data, ensure regulatory compliance, and improve data visibility. With centralized management and self-help data recovery, the vendor states that users' mobile workforces are protected without impacting productivity.

Druva's value proposition:

No hardware, no software

  • Delivered as-a-service means leaving behind on-premises infrastructure, hardware refresh cycles and time consuming software maintenance.

Infinitely scalable
  • Built in the cloud, new capacity can be added to subscriptions on the fly without changes to backup settings, and without needing to purchase and install new appliances or software.

No maintenance windows

  • Druva maintains the data protection solution, not the customer; the platform is always up-to-date with the latest features.

Data Protection That’s Different

  • Druva’s SaaS data protection platform boasts less cost and complexity found in solutions that aren’t built for the cloud, while remaining secure, scalable and always available.

Druva backs up our AWS instances. We had been searching for a product that could take backups as well as snapshots and didn't want to keep it on-premise.
  • Simple Install
  • Clean Interface
  • Quick SUpport
  • Don't have one
We only use it for basic backups/restores but the product has been very straightforward and works seamlessly.

Endpoint backup and recovery as well as server backup and recovery. Also used for location and status of endpoints. Protection of ransomware and potential hacks and viruses. We have successfully completed audits from our parent company as well as clients. We have used Druva to standardize our lifecycle management process and policies.
  • Backup.
  • Data Security.
  • Data Recovery.
  • Server Backup.
  • Server Recovery.
  • Faster recovery of data.
Any organization that uses endpoints and/or servers which is 99% would be benefited greatly by implementing Druva to increase their security and strengthen their ransomware protection. Druva will help with audits and lifecycle management that is usually required by clients as well as internal auditors mainly for financial protection.

Originally, we were looking only at endpoint backups for our users' machines. After talking with Druva, we found it was quite easy to implement SaaS backups for our Google Workspace, which included Google Drive and Gmail. With the system we were previously using, the end-user data restore process is a bit of a nightmare and not end user friendly at all. Druva, on the other hand, is very easy to use and I no longer need to assist end-users with file restoration. Moving between machines - if the user's laptop is replaced, for example - is also very easy. When the user logs into their Druva account, the system notices a different machine and asks to either add the device to their account or replace the one already found. If replaced, it will ask if it should begin a file restore process. Backups are also a breeze as you can define different backup profiles to different sets of machines. These profiles are then pushed out to the assigned clients without having to mess with the end user's client install. Profiles can be either as granular or as simple as you'd like to use and can be applied across a number of platforms.
  • Simple end user restore process.
  • Easy to use, web-based Control Panel.
  • Assign different backup profiles to different sets of users/machines.
  • Upgrade client software remotely.
  • Wide range of retention periods.
  • Changes on the backend from Druva engineers can sometimes cause errors with Google Apps backups.
  • Backups on Windows machines can become stalled if the device has been up for a while without a reboot.
A good portion of my users are scattered around the country (thanks Covid!) so I needed a means of backing them up as well as keeping the client updated. Once the client is installed on the user's machine and they've logged into the application, profiles and client updates can be pushed to the device remotely. With Google Apps, so long as Druva has sufficient access to the organizational unit that contains your users, it's a "set it and forget it" situation.

It has been used to back up all my VIP users' information. We use it in the whole organization. It solves the sensitive endpoint backup automation.
  • Backup automation
  • AD Sync
  • Massive deployment
  • A massive deployment MSI package with some kind of customization (logo, description, etc.)
  • A report maker or an existing report customization tool
Druva inSync is well suited when you need backup automation with almost no user intervention, massive endpoint backup implementation, endpoint backup with Active Directory integration, cloud backup and restoration, or in DLP scenarios. It is great for doing the cloud backup, and it is very helpful in restoration with a new or stolen/lost endpoint. Also, you can back up more than one endpoint (computer/smartphone or mobile device) with the same license, because it is based on a quota limit, then you can share this quota between maximum of 5 devices.

Prior to implementing Druva across the organization, we were managing 3 different backup solutions. Now we have one single painted glass for all things backup.
  • Ease of use.
  • Ease of implementation.
  • Super fast and reliable restores.
  • Reports can be made customizable to what the administrator wants to see.
  • The job details can be made more extensive so that it is easier to identified and troubleshoot errors in backups.
  • The insync platform can be more robust in terms of job details.
If you are looking to have a single, intuitive platform to manage backups across your organization (thing O365, AWS, VMWare, physical servers, NAS, endpoints, etc) then Druva is the perfect solution for this. There is no on-prem appliance needed so your workloads can be geographically distributed.

As a company we use Druva across the entire organization on all of our end user machines for corp[orate] back ups. It allows our end user to not have to run their own backups and if a machine gets lost or stolen, the information the end user may have stored will be retrievable even after we remote wipe the laptop.
  • Easy to choose what information should be backed up.
  • It is deployed to end user machines remotely.
  • Able to set intervals when to run the backup.
  • Can also set the pause duration between backups.
I think that Druva is well suited to running back ups in the background. Once the options have been set, the end user can leave it and let it run. However, there have been some users that have experienced slower response times during the backup process but this usually doesn't happen after the options/settings have been corrected.

We use Druva inSync to protect our user data on PC's as well as M365 cloud, including Sharepoint, Teams, OneDrive and mailboxes.
Druva inSync is used company wide, and has been a valuable tool for us.
  • Leveraging a backup solution to Microsoft 365 environment can be a time consuming job. With Druva inSync, it can be achieved in minutes.
  • Although it seems that user's PC backup is thing of the past, since everything is in the cloud nowadays, there still is need for it in certain cases. Druva inSync delivers [an] easily configurable interface for end-user backup, with pre-configured rules.
  • Speed of recovery to M365 environment could be faster.
M365 environments are easy to backup with Druva inSync.
Notice that recovering data, ex. to Sharepoint 365, can take a long time.
Recovered data can also be downloaded to another location, which is useful.

We're using Druva inSync across our entire organization. For us, it addresses the need for an endpoint backup solution in the days of remote work. With employees distributed across the US, we were in need of an endpoint backup solution that would allow us to retain data while reducing hardware costs, storage costs, and bandwidth in user homes.
  • Endpoint backup
  • Ease of use
  • Easy restorral
  • Unlimited storage options
  • Docker/Hypervisor backups
  • Auto-update capabilities
  • Google Authentication implementation is poor
  • Better identification of what is/isn't being backed up at a folder level
Scenarios in which Druva inSync is well suited.
  • Distributed workforce
  • Remote-work
  • Decentralized offices/computing environments
  • Cloud-based computing environments where less is stored on the device, and more is stored on the cloud.
Scenarios in which Druva inSync is less appropriate
  • Traditional office environments with local backup options and cost-effective local storage options
  • Docker/Hypervisor heavy environments
  • Low-Bandwidth/high-latency environments

We use it for all user desktop and laptop systems. Primarily as a backup method so that any user, be they on our internal network or on travel, can ensure their information is safely stored. We were also using inSync to share folders as a Dropbox-like tool. However, since support for it is ending, some groups are asking we inquire about other options.
  • Integration with our SSO tools.
  • Bandwidth and CPU controls, allowing adjustments based on a user to user basis.
  • Able to set hard limits on type of content backed up.
  • The loss of the inSync Share folder is a big issue for many.
  • Better integration with Kerberos technology.
  • Better macOS support.
Users that are on travel have a fairly easy experience backing up and accessing files. They can reach the web interface if their system has any issues (to access a PowerPoint, for example, if their main system has issues) and if they are remote users in general we can ship them a system they can self restore data to.

Druva Cloud Platform is installed in all laptops in our organization for desktop and laptop backup. It is used across the whole organization. It helps integrate files with Office365 and helps back up all Office365 files. All machines are backed up at least two times a day. So it is a one-stop solution in the case of any recovery of files as well as managing loads on the server.
  • Office 365 backup.
  • Restrict backups to specific networks.
  • Sharing files like Google Drive or One Drive.
  • Restore data only in particular networks.
  • Intranet based backup.
  • Troubleshooting backup failure takes a long time.
  • Auto error diagnostic.
  • Help knowledge base improve.
Druva Cloud Platform is well suited for large organizations for backing up data and restoring it to a specific network. Druva Cloud Platform. may be less appropriate for intranet users since most of the backup is on the cloud. So, for any organization looking for premise-based backup, Druva Cloud Platform may not be suitable for them. Druva Cloud Platform is more suitable for organizations that already have their data on the cloud or using cloud-based systems for storage of their data.

It is being used across the organization for targeted users - Executives and critical users. This is to ensure that data of these users are backed up in case of accidental or intentional deletion for business continuity.
  • Backup size is smaller due to deduplication process.
  • Easy to restore data when devices are reformatted.
  • Provides real-time monitoring and status of backup.
  • Bandwidth utilization during backup is throttled.
  • Multi-domain and multi-tenancy.
  • More user friendly interface.
  • Cost for Hard Disk (Endpoint) Backup is separate from the Productivity Suites (Google or Microsoft).
Really suited for data backup of critical users for business continuity. [It is] important to have a stable internet connection to finish backup, although the use of bandwidth is throttled.

Druva inSync is used for backing up our entire fleet of workstations. Some of our engineers have terabytes of data stored on their workstations, and some engineers have both a desktop and a laptop. These include CAD files, analysis results, and many other files spanning a large range of engineering applications. Prior to deploying Druva, all of this data was at risk. We even had a few instances of paying for data recovery services, which were very expensive. Additionally, any time we replaced a computer it would take lots of Service Desk time to transfer all of the right data. When people started working from home, these issues went from a concern to a nightmare. People needed to take desktops home, increasing the likelihood of failures due to transport. Now, in addition to solving the above problems, users are able to restore files that they accidentally delete (this happens more than you would hope). Druva has reduced the amount of support our users need and has increased their productivity as a result. Keeping workstation data safe can be invaluable in engineering situations where data must be local to the workstation for adequate performance.
  • Easy to deploy with a broad range of deployment software
  • Covers Windows, macOS, and Linux
  • Offers an unlimited storage option
  • Admin portal is easy to use
  • Users must log in to the Druva agent when it is first installed. A zero-touch option would be nice to make adoption faster.
  • The product does require an agent to be installed on each client. A clientless option for on-prem workstations might be nice.
  • The admin interface is easy to use, but can be a little busy if you only have one of Druva's products.
Druva inSync is perfect for scenarios where end-users keep a lot of data on their workstations and if you want to give them the ability to restore that data themselves. For users who only keep office documents and small files, other products are likely better suited to the task. Additionally, if files are often shared between workstations, there are other ways to back up those shared files (such as storing them centrally). Lastly, this is a file-backup product: It is not for restoring a Windows installation onto bare metal.

We use Druva inSync across our organization worldwide to help protect and secure our high-value VIPs' data and endpoints. It allows IT to manage, monitor, and control our endpoints data and back it up successfully to the cloud.
  • For remote endpoint backup it can't be beat. Deduping, reports, speed--nothing I have seen comes close. It is best in breed.
  • It also helps with data security with remote wipe capability and geo fencing.
  • We often use it for user system upgrades; one exec called it the easiest PC refresh he ever had.
  • It frankly just works.
  • It used to offer baremetal restore on some of its products, backing up as an image; that would be a nice feature but not 100% necessary since a recovery of a system would require a new image anyway.
It is the best in breed for backing up users systems, its user data profile management and persona backup work excellent. its really a piece of mind for IT knowing our Execs data is getting backed up. And if it isnt then I get a report of it.

We are using Druva In-Sync across the whole organization for device and SaaS backup (G Suite). This allows us to have personal devices backed up and restorable by the individual, as well as the admin. The G Suite backup covers our needs to keep our Google Drive data backed up without relying on Google's uptime SLA.
  • Easy to manage by end users.
  • Easy to restore by end users.
  • Easy to manage by admin.
  • Implementation of devices could be easier. Currently, you need to provide a spreadsheet with usernames and device serials/MAC addresses to implement in a batch

Druva is being used by our IT department across the whole of the organization. It addresses our need to have reliable, redundant, and maintenance-free off-site backups for the servers in our organization. Druva replaces a traditional tape-based rotational backup solution.
  • Easy to use.
  • Easy to implement.
  • Seamless handoff between sales and implementation.
  • I don't know that I want this to change, but it did take some to get my head around the billing model.
  • The differentiation between sites in the interface could be clearer.
  • It might be nice to get more details directly from the log.
Druva exceeded our expectations. Many vendors make big claims but when you examine them in more depth, they aren't really true. For Druva, the salespeople were completely transparent about what Druva could do and what it couldn't do, and there was total parity between what the salespeople said and what we were able to implement.

We are using Druva inSync to backup our Office 365 environment across the whole organization. The business problems does it addresses is the problem of having an on-prem backup solution and deciding on to secure the backup data offsite. It also addresses the all of the backup data is accessible anywhere. So it we have to restore something, we can be anywhere and not have to run into the office every time we need to restore.

  • Backed by AWS infrastructure.
  • Reasonability priced.

A scenario that Druva inSync is well suited for is for companies that are strictly cloud-based. Druva Phoenix is a dependable, enterprise grade backup solution. We have used many cloud/offsite backup solutions including Veeam for our clients but none as dependable as Druva. Veeam is a operationally & commercially non-inclusive solution; there are no such hidden commercially exclusive ideas with the Druva solution. We do not exclusively use Druva for all our clients, we use AWS S3 & Backblaze B2 as well but when we need a bundled, easy-managed, easy-transfer solution we always pitch with Druva.
