What is Druva Data Resiliency Cloud?

Druva Data Resiliency Cloud

Workforce mobility and the rise of cloud services is an essential part of any business, but it creates a number of challenges for IT. Data spread across devices and cloud services, unpredictable schedules, and varied network connections all complicate efforts to protect and govern enterprise information.

The Druva Cloud Platform (formerly Druva inSync & Druva Phoenix) provides unified data protection, management, and information governance across endpoints and cloud applications. Delivered as-a-service, the Druva Cloud Platform aims to simplify backup, archival, compliance, and device management to reduce the cost and complexity of protecting end user data, ensure regulatory compliance, and improve data visibility. With centralized management and self-help data recovery, the vendor states that users' mobile workforces are protected without impacting productivity.

Druva's value proposition:

No hardware, no software

  • Delivered as-a-service means leaving behind on-premises infrastructure, hardware refresh cycles and time consuming software maintenance.

Infinitely scalable
  • Built in the cloud, new capacity can be added to subscriptions on the fly without changes to backup settings, and without needing to purchase and install new appliances or software.

No maintenance windows

  • Druva maintains the data protection solution, not the customer; the platform is always up-to-date with the latest features.

Data Protection That’s Different

  • Druva’s SaaS data protection platform boasts less cost and complexity found in solutions that aren’t built for the cloud, while remaining secure, scalable and always available.

It's used throughout the org. In case student files are frozen, or the current system crashes, this product is used as a backup to ensure the most recent data can still be recovered, and that if our intranet goes down, we are able to still give student live accounts of their progress.
  • easy to use
  • works fast
  • does not shut down
  • faster login
  • multiple users at once
  • just all around easier language.
It's well suited when making sure student files are backed up, and that the most recent data is accounted for. It doesn't work quite as well on days when the system is working slowly, but it not all the way shut down. It also only really serves to show previous info, not live info.

We use Druva inSync as a backup strategy for endpoints. We currently use it on 55 endpoints. We started using Druva as a way to have a cloud backup solution for mobile users as well as desktops.
  • Allows for scheduling backups without having to interfere with the end-user experience.
  • For Directory backups, change the default setting to All Files. We did have an instance where an end-user was using software that used an extension that did not fall into the default settings and was not being backed up. We had to configure "All Files" after the fact.
  • Directory in question: Documents.
We have seen the most benefit for our end users that are mobile and work from home or during travel. We also use an on-premise solution and Druva filled the need for those who regularly go off-premise.

Druva is our backup solution for all endpoints within the company. We had no solution in place previously.
  • Ease of use! Easy application to manage.
  • Ease of implementation. We had Druva up and running with in a day, and rolled out in a few weeks.
  • Support is fantastic. We've only had a few issues, but support was there for us.
  • I'd like to see more backup options for Slack and Dropbox.
Our company is around 100 employees, with 70/30 PCs to Macs. We need a solution to back them up, as well as email in Office 365. This was a perfect fit.

We are using Druva to back up our laptops as well as our Office 365 environment company-wide. We like its ease of use and management, and much of the administration is self-explanatory. We have tested both backups and restores and both have worked flawlessly. Both processes are swift and work well.
  • It uses cloud storage which allows flexibility.
  • It can be integrated with Office 365 for SSO.
  • Unlimited storage.
  • I like it the way it is, there are a lot of options to cater to our back up needs
  • Configuring SSO can be difficult
  • Technical support can be hard to understand at times
It is well suited for any type of mix of Windows/Mac/Linux environments since there is a client for each. Also being able to use it on mobile devices is a plus. Users never have to worry about deleting files since restore is only a click away.

Our organization was seeking a DLP solution for remote staff and laptop users globally. We needed a scalable solution that could be centrally managed. We required a solution with real-time monitoring and a HIPAA compliance enforcement.
  • Real-time monitoring: user data usage, activities, and device locator.
  • Compliance enforcement: compliance templates available for regulated industries.
  • DLP settings: device trace, auto-delete, and file encryption.
  • More intuitive dashboards
  • Ability to add licenses from the dashboard
Druva inSync is a great solution for organizations that have a need to protect their end-user data. Easily deployed, it's a great fit for remote workforce users due to its data loss protection settings.

My name is Bert and we've been using Druva inSync at my company for more than 4 + years on all of our Macs and MacBooks at all of our offices across several countries for our Centralized Backup Plan of User's Data. Automated backups of User's Desktop and User's Documents to the Cloud has been a great solution for us, and a lifeline as well. We even had a stolen MacBook Pro and we easily restored the User's data to the new replacement MacBook Pro. With over 200+ coworkers spread all around the world, I find that Druva inSync is a must-have for any Company, IT Dept, and for peace of mind.
  • Set it and forget it.
  • No user interaction needed after the initial setup is complete.
  • Very easy to configure.
  • Automation is a bonus.
  • Peace of mind.
  • The Password reset could maybe include a copy of the reset being sent to the Druva admin as well.
  • Ability to modify or add or include different folder to be backed up.
  • The Restore Feature could be changed to redirect the restore to, or to restore to the original folder that got backed up in the first place.
Druva inSync is well suited for anyone who is looking for any automated cloud backup solution that anyone can deploy. With regards to what scenarios Druva inSync is not well suited, that would be when someone is in need of accessing an individual file or folder on a daily basis. This is NOT what Druva inSync is setup for, in my personal opinion. Because of our goals of using Druva as a BACKUP PLAN, we didn't go outside this role for its capabilities.

Druva inSync backs up our user data without user intervention. The interface is very easy to use. So far, it is fast, intuitive and reliable. Great features including the Administration console. Navigation is a lot simpler and more intuitive which makes our admin life easy.
  • Admin UI.
  • Administration very straight forward.
  • Not machine resources heavy.
  • Audit Log.
  • Issues with my VPN, but this could be our VPN provider.
  • Coexistence with Sharefile.
Durva inSync is well suited for our engineering department's resources with different file sizes and travel demand.

Druva Phoenix is used across the whole organization. Currently, it addresses the business problems related to Backups across the following categories:

  • VM Backups [VMWARE].
  • SQL Database Backups.
  • File Server Backups.
  • Cloud-based, easy to set up, configure backup policies, and administer.
  • Upgrade Backup Proxies on the fly from the Cloud as soon as a new agent version is available.
  • It's easy to scale by installing additional backup proxies when there is an increase in workloads.
  • Optimal use of Internet Bandwidth.
  • It needs functionality related to popular use case scenarios, such as application-aware backups related to SharePoint Backups and SAP HANA backups.
It's well suited for backups of VMs hosted on VMWARE and Hyper-V, SQL Database Backups, and File System Backups.

Most of our users are on assigned laptops, and inSync gives us a great solution for efficient backups to a hosted environment. We use also make use of their O365 backup offering, backing up each users' Exchange, OneDrive, and tenant Sharepoint site collections.
  • It has an excellent portal, with granular enough settings to back up and drawdown data.
  • High praise of their support. They resolve tickets fast and are committed.
  • It solves local machine backup and cloud assigned apps in one solution.
  • Browsing backed up data can be cumbersome to review. Luckly for us, our needs are only a few nested folders of user data.
It's the perfect solution for a mobile workforce who might not be connected to the wired LAN for the majority of their time.

Across the entire state agency, of which my local department is a part.
  • It doesn't do anything particularly well, IMHO.
  • Better user interface. Online training and documentation.
It backs up our server data, which is a standard feature of many systems. The key element for my agency is data retrieval from backups, and it is in this area in which Druva's user interface needs help. It is clumsy and not intuitive.

We use Druva inSync for the gap between office 365 litigation hold and actually being able to restore user data like their contacts which were impossible to restore if there was a change on an item instead of actually getting removed. Also, much easier to restore from OneDrive, that Office 365 portal with what Microsoft provides the users. It is very easy to set up, easy to manage, and even easier and much more efficient to restore user's data.
  • Restoring any data, such as mail items is very efficient and helpful compared to other products.
  • The Druva dashboard is very user-friendly and it also makes managing and monitoring the processes a lot faster.
  • Being cloud-based, you can access the dashboard from anywhere and anytime with no need to worry about hardware and maintenance.
  • Reporting needs some improvement in my mind.
Works great with Office 365 email and Onedrive. You can protect any device such as a laptop, PC, or mobile devices with Druva. Considering their pricing, it is worth it to have this as a backup if your business requires this for compliance or if dealing with sensitive data for your clients and users.

We are backing up every day. The whole organization is using it.The best part is we can schedule the backup with dedicated bandwidth and I can choose the backup data.
  • Mainly installation is easy and there is a user-friendly GUI.
  • Maintaining important data. Junk is not backup. We can choose a particular folder for backup.
  • We can exclude software files. We can create filters for files to exclude from backup like jpeg, .exe, .pdf., etc.
  • The best part is we can have a scheduling system.
  • Whereas the admin is not able to reset the password on their own.
Sometimes I feel it can be better, but it's not bad.

Druva is used primarily for laptop backup of senior leadership so that it can be available during a crisis.
  • Allows select file types to be backed up
  • Allow incremental backup
  • Ensures proper security
  • Self heal feature where if backup doesn’t happen then it guide users
  • Auto alert with risk of not getting data backed up and keep logs
Suited where bandwidth is a challenge. Secondly, does incremental backup without much overhead on performance.

Druva is used as an enterprise PC backup solution. This enables us to easily back up and restore user files. Most of the activity happens behind the scenes to the user. It’s an easy solution to deploy to a very large audience of users. As it is efficient with bandwidth, normal day to day operations are wide area network friendly.
  • Backup user files
  • Easy to use
  • Bandwidth friendly
  • Initial sync can bring down your ban bandwidth.
  • Does not operate well in China.
  • Auto-detect places of users saving application files and doing backups.
Well suited to a distributed user environment to protect IP inside your user devices. Extremely friendly backup solution across the globe.

Backs up Office 365, particularly Exchange Online.
  • Works automatically in the background.
  • Runs all the time.
  • Is a very reliable way to backup Exchange Online.
  • The logging is overall not very complete and detailed.
  • The alert management system is REALLY not very good. We often get alerts and then have to log in only to find nothing wrong. And the logs don't show the issue.
  • The reporting is limited.
Backup Office 365 where their current solution cannot.

Druva inSync is being used in our department. Assuring a save and continue backup of the work environment of the researcher.
  • Transparant Backup of the data
  • Easy restore functionality
  • Versioning
  • The network infrastructure is sometimes slow. Maybe better compress the data or speed up the network.
The backup everywhere gives the researcher a save feeling that his data is safe. They travel a lot and are in several places, not always aware of backing up their data save.

It is being used across the entire organization and is mandatory. We use it to backup desktop and documents of all systems for our security. It allows us to have backups on hand if a user: leaves the company and we need access to data if it was destroyed, needs a new computer and easy to just restore the backup, and if data is lost and user needs the latest backup.
  • Restoring backup data onto a new machine is quick and easy!
  • Very easy-to-use interface with good analytics on devices installed and device locations, etc.
  • Being able to customize location names when adding users would be a +
Great use cases: when a user leaves the company and we need access to data if it was destroyed, if an employee needs a new computer and easy to just restore the backup, and if data is lost and user needs the latest backup. It has worked very well for us so far!

We use it to backup all PCs and laptops across the organization, both in branch locations and home office. We backup profile information as well as several custom folder locations that are specific to our organization. We have used it to restore data when replacing computers on a schedule, as well as in a fail scenario. We are currently using the cloud cache setup to help with internet traffic during business hours.
  • Profile backup, it pulls most of the profile settings which allows for setting up the user new computer much faster.
  • Custom folder backup - we use it to backup and restore custom folder locations, we do not backup the entire computer. This keeps are backups as small as possible but also allows us to make sure we get all the data that we have deemed important for the company.
  • The cloud cache servers help to keep the internet traffic down during the day and uploads the days information up to the cloud overnight when the bandwidth isn't at such a premium.
  • We have been having a problem with some of our devices going inactive and not backing up.
  • Backing up to the closest cache server and not to one configured server all of the time. This would allow our users the ability to backup quickly when traveling to the different branch locations.
Druva inSync is well suited to backup and restore remote locations where we can setup a cache server. This allows us to store information from the cloud overnight for restores and sends the data out at night and aids in keeping internet traffic in area that may not have high internet bandwidth in check.

Our company used Druva inSync to securely manage project files between our team members all over the globe. It was used across our entire organization for project management, marketing, and other uses. It addressed our need for reviewing files as they were accessed, updated, deleted, and shared with others and gave us control to revoke sharing as needed.
  • The ability to track file access with the auditing system is unparalleled. We can generate reports on a user or on a file/folder to see who has accessed it and when.
  • When a file went missing we reviewed when it was last accessed and it was deleted 6 months ago. With Druva inSync we were able to not only recover the file but determine who deleted it and inform them of better practices so it wasn't accidentally deleted again. This was incredible and invaluable.
  • Managing teams of users and how they access folders/files is great and very simple.
  • We often share access to folders or files with our clients during the software development phase and having the ability to revoke access as needed is fantastic. If you accidentally sent a link out for sensitive files you would be able to revoke access to that link and generate a new one rather quickly.
  • The main area they could use improvement on is the client on your local computer. There were a few times it would stop working and I would need to contact customer support to get it working again. Those scenarios have been fewer as of this year so they hopefully have things sorted out by now.
  • The version control system does exist, but it is kind of hard to access so they could improve how you access it and how it works.
I can't think of scenarios it would be less appropriate or suited for, but it is well suited for an organization looking to keep their files in a safe environment with version tracking and audit trails. That is pretty much any organization in this day and age. Computers are great but hardware breaks down intermittently so knowing you have your files in a secure location that won't ever fail is fantastic.

Druva was used by a department as a backup for infrastructure. Users work off of shared drives, then the machine that holds the file shares and databases are backed up using Druva.
  • Druva runs quickly.
  • Does not have an appreciable effect on computer performance while running.
  • Easy to restore from.
  • Restores relatively quickly.
  • It would be nice if it would restore quicker.
  • It would be nice to have more granular control of what gets backed up.
  • It would be nice to be able to re-activate a device that was previously de-activated.
Honestly, from my experience, this is a great product that would work under any circumstances.
