What is Druva Data Resiliency Cloud?

Druva Data Resiliency Cloud

Workforce mobility and the rise of cloud services is an essential part of any business, but it creates a number of challenges for IT. Data spread across devices and cloud services, unpredictable schedules, and varied network connections all complicate efforts to protect and govern enterprise information.

The Druva Cloud Platform (formerly Druva inSync & Druva Phoenix) provides unified data protection, management, and information governance across endpoints and cloud applications. Delivered as-a-service, the Druva Cloud Platform aims to simplify backup, archival, compliance, and device management to reduce the cost and complexity of protecting end user data, ensure regulatory compliance, and improve data visibility. With centralized management and self-help data recovery, the vendor states that users' mobile workforces are protected without impacting productivity.

Druva's value proposition:

No hardware, no software

  • Delivered as-a-service means leaving behind on-premises infrastructure, hardware refresh cycles and time consuming software maintenance.

Infinitely scalable
  • Built in the cloud, new capacity can be added to subscriptions on the fly without changes to backup settings, and without needing to purchase and install new appliances or software.

No maintenance windows

  • Druva maintains the data protection solution, not the customer; the platform is always up-to-date with the latest features.

Data Protection That’s Different

  • Druva’s SaaS data protection platform boasts less cost and complexity found in solutions that aren’t built for the cloud, while remaining secure, scalable and always available.

Veeam and Druva are both currently a part of our IT backup infra.
In term sof the comparison- Veeam does better with cluster backups both for Windows and SQL, whereas Druva being a totally cloud-based solution is much easier to manage and set the backup policies for, which makes my admin job easy.

We had been using Druva for Insync (endpoints) and Phoenix (HyperV). We were using Syncovery for data on servers (NAS and FileServer backups). Syncovery started encountering errors in the automation causing our department to have to manually kick off backups nightly. When a help request to fix the automation was placed, Syncovery made it clear that they had no intention to help us, despite paying a yearly subscription for help. Having had a good experience with Druva with their other products, we decided to consolidate into one backup solution and have been happily automated ever since.

Druva has an easier to use front end. the overall cost is also a factor. The support provided has been excellent. We had a detailed POC nefore selecting Druva. During the POC while Druva may have been sloghtly more expensive they provided the best package of features and support that we were looking for.

Druva is a unique product in the data protection space and does things very differently. This means they are often presenting a very different approach to other vendors in the space. This usually leads to a more modern approach to protecting workloads in both on-prem and cloud environments including SaaS applications such as M365

In terms of support and services.
Their product is competitively less expensive but the availability of data can not be compromised due to lack of support and services. Druva's OEM support makes it unique and top of the line.

- Support provision is amazing
- Functionality that goes above and beyond
- Reporting and monitoring is a very light touch
- Restorations are a Dream
- It just works! Once it was set up, we haven't need to troubleshoot or fix it.

We were happy Mozy Enterprise customers, but when they were purchased by Carbonite we evaluated many solutions. Druva offered better Windows integration than Carbonite and better licensing, pricing, and simplicity compared to the other solutions. Around the same time, we were dissatisfied with our Unitrends hybrid on-prem appliance/hosted NOC DR solution. This was a good opportunity to look at other options. The network and endpoint teams separately liked Druva's respective platforms, and we were able to combine these services into 1 vendor.

Can do what competitors do, just easier. Can do more than what most competitors can by allowing metadata and data. Head and shoulders above the rest. Sales department was able to beat any competitors price.

While we like both Druva Data Resiliency Cloud and Veeam, what sets Druva Data Resiliency Cloud apart is it is much easier to deploy for O365 cloud-to-cloud backups, we didn't need any additional infrastructure, whereas Veeam wasn't as flexible with the deployment, so it was an easy pick. Pricing-wise also Veeam is a lot on the higher side compared to Druva Data Resiliency Cloud.

Among the 3 choices Druva was 1) the most cost efficient and 2) easiest to implement and dive into. In terms of speed, Druva has proved to be faster with backups and restores compared to the others. Backup and restore speeds are faster with Druva than compared to our old onsite backup system that Druva has replaced.

Druva has a lot of advantages over Druva in terms of having a much better end user GUI, Veeam also did not really have an end user solution.
Druva also provides better bang for our buck in terms of the functionalities, 24/7 Support and the continuously updating roadmap. We are quite happy with our decision to go ahead with Druva.

Compared to Veeam, Druva was more feature rich, easier to integrate and much less complex.
Also, Druva GUI supports all kinds of workloads within the same GUI so you don't have to log into multiple portals, also the Support is 24/7 and the proof of concept was in-depth and useful.

Barracuda was quite difficult to manage in the long term because of their on-prem requirements, they would often send us damaged hardware which caused us a lot of backup issues for weeks in many cases. Thanks to Druva Data Resiliency Cloud offering, we don't have to worry about such issues anymore since everything is going on the AWS cloud.

Compared to Datto Backupify- DDruva Data Resiliency Cloud has a much better interface(Datto is quite clunky). Also, Datto doesn't provide good enough protection for Endpoints, it doesn't have enough layers of security in terms of data protection. Overall in terms of the features being provided for the pricing- Druva Data Resiliency Cloud is a much more comprehensive and well-rounded choice.

Compared to Veeam and OneDrive- Druva offers a lot more layers for backup protection and data locking.
The backup policies are also much more flexible and robust in terms of their options provided. Price-wise also Druva compares nicely to these competitors when you consider the features and services you're getting in return for your investment. We're happy and sure we made the right choice of vendor.

Along with Druva Data Resiliency Cloud- during our selection procedure we also evaluated Veeam and Carbonite. While all seem to be good solutions- Druva Data Resiliency Cloud went far and beyond to make sure that our free trial was excellent and the features that we had wanted were showcased and the proof of concept was a success. So overall given the pricing and the features- Druva Data Resiliency Cloud ended up being the automatic choice.

  • Rubrik and Veeam Backup & Replication
We evaluated Druva Data Resiliency Cloud, Veeam and Rubrik all at the same time prior to onboarding, we even used Veeam before switching over to Druva Data Resiliency Cloud. The primary reasons we chose Druva Data Resiliency Cloud were the better pricing, much easier and smoother deployment compared to Veeam during our proof of concept trial with Druva Data Resiliency Cloud. Also, their teams are available 24/7 even on weekends. So we're very happy with our decision.

Compared to the above three competitors Druva Data Resiliency Cloud overall meets all our preferences and goals that we wished to accomplish from cloud protection and backup vendor. I personally like the product so much that over the last 6 years I've had Druva Data Resiliency Cloud become our backup partner across multiple companies working in multiple capacities.

  • Veeam Backup & Replication
While both Druva Data Resiliency Cloud and Veeam serve our purpose well, Drive provides a better ROI and service overall. We also don't experience backup failures with it, the GUI is also single and unified to use once you start getting used to it well. So I personally like Druva Data Resiliency Cloud a bit more than veeam and will continue using it.

We use Barracuda as a supplement to Druva. Barracuda handles individual email item recovery and review well. We also use Barracuda for email security. Druva is our first choice in recovery of entire mailboxes or restoring a mailbox folder from a time stamp. We would be open to see what Druva has to offer that we use Barracuda exclusively for.
