What is Druva Data Resiliency Cloud?

Druva Data Resiliency Cloud

Workforce mobility and the rise of cloud services is an essential part of any business, but it creates a number of challenges for IT. Data spread across devices and cloud services, unpredictable schedules, and varied network connections all complicate efforts to protect and govern enterprise information.

The Druva Cloud Platform (formerly Druva inSync & Druva Phoenix) provides unified data protection, management, and information governance across endpoints and cloud applications. Delivered as-a-service, the Druva Cloud Platform aims to simplify backup, archival, compliance, and device management to reduce the cost and complexity of protecting end user data, ensure regulatory compliance, and improve data visibility. With centralized management and self-help data recovery, the vendor states that users' mobile workforces are protected without impacting productivity.

Druva's value proposition:

No hardware, no software

  • Delivered as-a-service means leaving behind on-premises infrastructure, hardware refresh cycles and time consuming software maintenance.

Infinitely scalable
  • Built in the cloud, new capacity can be added to subscriptions on the fly without changes to backup settings, and without needing to purchase and install new appliances or software.

No maintenance windows

  • Druva maintains the data protection solution, not the customer; the platform is always up-to-date with the latest features.

Data Protection That’s Different

  • Druva’s SaaS data protection platform boasts less cost and complexity found in solutions that aren’t built for the cloud, while remaining secure, scalable and always available.

Not applicable, but I am sure that the feature set of inSync would make these issues much easier to deal with, should they occur

Druva's legal hold and eDiscovery feature improved my company's IT and Legal collaboration. With the right tool, we can work with each other more effectively. For example, the Legal team now can have special accounts to browse the backup data on their own without IT support.

Druva offers eDiscovery from a central location so I can find files or contents of files across any computer, employee, over any period of time. Turnover is not an issue because I can still find the information I need with Druva.

As of now, we have not needed to use Druva inSync for employee turnover challenges during COVID-19. However, if we did, we would most likely have a case where we would need to pull data from a backup after wiping a machine. If so, we would have no issue as we mark Druva accounts as Preserved at least for a year after a person leaves the organization.

We are fortunate in that we have not seen any increase to our employee turnover during this crisis. Druva has always been useful in allowing access to a departing user's data, through a restore to a network location accessible by management for review of any needed material. In that manner, Druva remains as useful now as it was prior to the crisis.

Even in "normal" times our company has a low turnover rate. We have not had any employee turnover due to COVID-19. That said, we have had a few employees leave our company for other employment, and in a few cases, having access to their inSync backups has proved useful. One example is, it has made it possible to more efficiently repurpose a departed employees device since we don't have to be concerned with retrieving their files first.

In regards to COVID-19-related employee turnover challenges and looking from that perspective, yes. We did have to and rely on inSync to restore and preserve laid-off and furloughed employees' data which, aside from prompt data access from these users, it did provide peace of mind knowing in case we didn't get it back from the user, we still have the data available.

With the implementation of Druva inSync just over a year ago, our ability to manage employee data, especially with departing employees, has significantly improved. Office 365 Exchange Online does not provide a way to perform a traditional backup of user mailboxes. We've relied on Druva inSync's auditing capabilities as well as other governance features and they've performed flawlessly.

Due to some turnover it has helped with retaining data that needed to be kept to our company. There are also instances where some departments needed the data that was previously on a machine but may have been wiped. Even if the machine is no longer available, we can access the needed data.

Druva inSync has been extremely helpful in data preservation for employee furloughs during this crisis. The peace of mind in knowing that employee data will be fully available once they return as well as preserving security from data leaks is an unexpected benefit from using this product. Additionally, having the data available in case of the necessity for eDiscovery is also a potential benefit down the road.
