What is Druva Data Resiliency Cloud?

Druva Data Resiliency Cloud

Workforce mobility and the rise of cloud services is an essential part of any business, but it creates a number of challenges for IT. Data spread across devices and cloud services, unpredictable schedules, and varied network connections all complicate efforts to protect and govern enterprise information.

The Druva Cloud Platform (formerly Druva inSync & Druva Phoenix) provides unified data protection, management, and information governance across endpoints and cloud applications. Delivered as-a-service, the Druva Cloud Platform aims to simplify backup, archival, compliance, and device management to reduce the cost and complexity of protecting end user data, ensure regulatory compliance, and improve data visibility. With centralized management and self-help data recovery, the vendor states that users' mobile workforces are protected without impacting productivity.

Druva's value proposition:

No hardware, no software

  • Delivered as-a-service means leaving behind on-premises infrastructure, hardware refresh cycles and time consuming software maintenance.

Infinitely scalable
  • Built in the cloud, new capacity can be added to subscriptions on the fly without changes to backup settings, and without needing to purchase and install new appliances or software.

No maintenance windows

  • Druva maintains the data protection solution, not the customer; the platform is always up-to-date with the latest features.

Data Protection That’s Different

  • Druva’s SaaS data protection platform boasts less cost and complexity found in solutions that aren’t built for the cloud, while remaining secure, scalable and always available.

We use Druva inSync as our primary Office 365 email and OneDrive backup solution. All users in our Office 365 tenant have their email and OneDrive protected with Druva inSync. We're able to quickly backup, monitor, and restore data as needed. We simply worry about what data to backup and not about the infrastructure to perform the backup.
  • inSync was easy to deploy. I spend little time managing the software.
  • I never need to worry about buying additional backup hardware. Druva inSync scales with my needs.
  • The user sees no impact during backups
  • Some of the errors you'll get on failed jobs can be ambiguous
Druva works for getting your Office 365 emails and One Drive data backed up. Its fantastic for cloud applications. With no hardware to purchase, you can protect Endpoints, On Prem servers Physcial or virtual, and you AWS Cloud all from a single platform. It's simple to use and easy to get setup and going.

  • Druva inSync provides backups without the extra costs and overhead of managing on premise hardware
  • I check the admin console for five minutes in the morning then I'm on to the rest of my day
We protect our Office 365 environment with Druva inSync. We have email and one drive added to backups, then Druva will sync that data between our AD environment. That way you'll be able to see an individuals users cloud applications under a single user profile. The backups run seamless. I rarely have to do anything in the admin console outside of check job status.
I've been using Druva for over 4 years and I've never had to worry about expanding backup storage, or increasing performance of the backup platforms back end. This is all handled seamlessly by Druva. The backend is upgraded fairly regularly to keep all Druva products looking like they are a part of the same managemnet console. With Druva, I don't need to plan to purchace capacity before we "run out of backup space". The backend scales and we simply pay for the backend storage usage.
We currently do not use this feature of Druva.
We currently do not use the feature of Druva inSync
Druva inSync was already in the environment when I started. I was not involved with comparing other solutions.

The represent the Server and Cloud Team. These are the people who may log into the console on a weekly\monthly basis.

We have 5 people who are capable of supporting Druva. But really only 1 person does the day to day on-going support. Even the day to day operations of making sure backups are running is a 10 min daily task. The only extra time we spend in the console is to either protect a new VMware host, or restore a backup.
  • Server backups and data protection
  • Endpoint data protection
  • Office 365 data protection
  • We use the out of the box features and we get the data protection we need
  • Right now we do not leverage multiple AWS data centers. This is very possible with the product, but we are not curretnly leveraging it.
I can't imagine going through the process of vetting another data protection software stack to evaulate if it's a better fit for the company. We did this exercise with a few other products a year or two ago and Druva was hands down the winner. Everything about Druva fits our business model, and we can effectively run the product accross 3000 endpoints and mailboxes, 300+ servers between physical hosts, on prem virtualm or Cloud systems with 1 admin spending less than an hour a week in the admin console.

The single most important factor was Druva being a cloud first SaaS application. While we did have an on prem footprint, the need to buy addtional storage or a physical appliance was not applicaitble with Druva. We can simply use their proxies and protect on prem data without having extra hardware.
There isn't anything I would change. We set the product up for evaul, then continued to use that setup post purchase. It was simple to get started and simple to keep using.
  • Implemented in-house
No
Change management was minimal
We do not have a standard change managemnt process. The IT Team worked within the IT team and got this taken care of.
  • No issues
We got off the ground quickly with Druva. Across all Druva Products. CloudRanger took less than 10 mintues to setup within our AWS account and get our systems protected.
  • No Training
The product is very easy to use without training. You can follow the setup instructions on the web browser and get a system protected quickly. The help feature is very simple to use.
We purchached premium support to have the assurance that if we run into production issues we have the Druva team ready to go and assist if we run into problems. The product works so well, that we open a ticket maybe 3 times a year. It's so easy to use.
No
On their CloudRanger platform, there is a little "Need help? Chat with us button" at the bottom of the page. I clicked this link and within seconds I had a chat window opened with support ready to go on the other end. I can't remember what I needed help with, but I was blown away that I got help via chat and had my question\issue resolved in under 5 minutes without leaving the admin console page.
Most issues I have can be solved without opening a ticket. But if I need to get in touch with a support agent, I can open a chat request and within minutes have a tech on the end assisting me. The few tickets I had to open were resolved on the first call.
  • CloudRanger can be setup in minutes and you can define your backup polcies within the admin Console. Once those are defined, you can add AWS systems to CloudRanger without leaving the AWS Console.
  • We can setup a new ESX\HyperV host in a matter of 15 minutes and have data backing up to the Druva cloud. This is perfect for our M&As
  • Protecting a few hundred servers requires very little administration. Our daily task list for Druva is simply reviewing any failed backups and correcting the issue. Typically an admin will spend less than 10 minutes a day on the administration end.
  • From what we use of this system. There isn't anything that is cumbersome. This product just works.
I was able to protect and restore our data without the need for formal training on the software. Everything was simple to use out of the box. With CloudRanger, it leverages existing AWS APIs so we can restore with CR or directly within AWS. It's the best of both worlds.

We needed a new backup solution after moving to Office 365. We did not want to bring our backups onsite after moving a large amount of data to the cloud. Druva offered a cloud to cloud backup solution that fit our needs perfectly. Easy to implement, use, and maintain. We have been happy with our decision and have needed to recover information from Druva on more than one occasion. It has worked great every time!

  • We have not found any areas in need of improvement.
Druva fit our request of a cloud to cloud backup solution. We did not want to bring our Office 365 backups back onsite after just moving all of that data to the cloud. It has been a great solution for our Office 365, Sharepoint, and OneDrive for Business backups. We are very happy with the product at this time and plan to keep using it.

We use Druva for Office 365, Sharepoint, and OneDrive for Business. It has worked great for our needs. We have used it several times to recover items and it has never failed. Would highly recommend the product if you need a cloud to cloud backup solution. We have been very pleased with it so far.

I have clients using Druva inSync for backups of their computers, laptops, and mobile devices. It allows backups at least every 30 minutes and allows for very easy recovery by the end-user.
  • Druva inSync is a very fast and small footprint backup software.
  • Druva inSync enterprise deduplication is efficient and minimizes spaced used across all backed up data.
  • Druva inSync allows for encrypted data, geolocation of devices, and easy deployment.
  • Druva - Come back with your on-premise solution!
I have used Druva inSync for 7 years. I am very upset that the software is now only cloud-based and no longer has an on-premise version. I am highly opposed to cloud-only solutions, but Druva is a fantastic program. If I have to use a cloud solution, I would recommend Druva. I am looking for an on-premise solution to replace Druva but may have to continue using them.
  • Druva backups are fast and easy to use.
  • Druva support is awesome.
I do not use Druva inSync for backing up cloud apps.
I do not use inSync for uncovering non-compliant end user data.
Druva inSync centralized data governance is awesome and easy to use. I have used this to find, recover, and monitor backups.
I used a program called Copiun before Druva and moved to inSync after Copiun went out of business. Druva has been awesome to work with for the last 7 years.
Implementation on-premise was easy to deploy with Druva support.
Druva has continued to support my company and clients by providing peace of mind with excellent backups on each client computer, no matter where they are in the world.
I am not concerned about ransomware with Druva, since the backups cover the critical system data on all client devices.
Druva offers eDiscovery from a central location so I can find files or contents of files across any computer, employee, over any period of time. Turnover is not an issue because I can still find the information I need with Druva.

As an Office 365 Administrator, I have to be able to identify and manage risk. We value the Microsoft O365 cloud platform, but when it comes to restoring deleted files, their restoration process is awful! I have significant piece of mind when files are deleted from our SharePoint sites, that instead of going into the "recycling bin", I can restore the entire Document Library or Site as needed, to the day before. This alone has saved me a lot of time!
  • Restoring users and deleted files from both Cloud and desktop applications, with only a few button click.
  • The InSync dashboard allows me to see where all my assets are and when their last backups occurred.
  • The installation process was VERY easy. So getting everyone up and running was painless.
  • Restoration Log Report, should match file name to Microsoft's Activity log. One for one comparison helps to ensure that all files were restored.
  • They need a report that also allows me to know if a backup process is taking a more than normal amount of time. I had one user whose backup started August 28th and was still running Sept 15th. This to me, would be a "failed" backup, but it was just stuck and none of their reports alerted me.
  • I really don't have a third issue, Druva Rocks!
The scope of reports provided within the Druva portal is good, however the details needed to verify against Microsoft Activity logs, is where Druva needs to improve. When the point was raised to the Druva Support team, they took immediate action to try and help ensure that in future incidents, the reports would more closely align to the reports from Microsoft activity logs. This helps me to verify that ALL the files deleted were indeed restored.
  • I have lived through the restoration process and must admit, the security I feel having Druva now, compared to before when I just relied on Microsoft, is life changing for me! If I see that someone accidently deleted 2,700 files (due to improperly Un-Sycning a SharePoint synced folder). I don't even flinch. In the past, with Microsoft, it would have been a nightmare to restore.
  • Peace of mind, is the biggest ROI I can think of!
We used to pay for MozyPro (before Carbonite), when I was shopping around for a Cloud backup, Druva stood out because it could backup us everything: Desktop, Exchange, Outlook and SharePoint. Since we are 100% Office 365 cloud based, Druva won!
We have not had any issues, so I don't have any examples, I use the Microsoft Alerts to identify all the issues within our system.
NA
Druva stood out because it not only backed up the laptops, but Exchange, OneDrive and SharePoint, in one solution.
I sent invitations and walked everyone through the process. It was so painless that I would do it again!

  • Streamline SharePoint Migration, from Client to Internal Team site.
We live in the cloud, Microsoft has some wonderful features, but the fact that you can't search and filter the recycling bin is a huge issue for us Admins.
Yes
MozyPro was the previous desktop backup, we did not have a Cloud OneDrive or SharePoint backup and that proved to be very painful. After 7 tech support calls to Microsoft, I literally gave us trying to figure out what files had been deleted from a site. Microsoft kept asking, what files were deleted, to which I responded, I don't know, that is why I wanted to restore the whole site!!!!

During the evaluation process, Druva was the least expensive when you take into account that MozyPro only backed up our desktop. When Carbonite purchased MozyPro, they also added the cloud backup. However, their bid was still higher than Druva's complete solution.
I did a very thorough evaluation. I would not change anything that I did, except move quicker on getting it purchased.
  • Implemented in-house
No
Change management was minimal
  • Getting time on everyone's schedules, where they were going to be home for the first complete backup. There are some users that have a lot of content so backup had to run over night.
  • Online training
As an administrator, if I had a user who needed additional training, it was available. As an Administrator, the product was so easy I didn't need it.
Yes
Desktop support is the one area that I value most. If a machine is down and has to be replaced, the ease of installation and duration of "down time" are significant issues. Knowing that, if I could not help the employee, Druva could helps give me piece of mind.
No
During a recent "Un-Sync" action performed by a user, thousands of files were deleted. With the support of Druva, I was able to restore all the files and verify to the user that everything was made whole. That is the most valuable thing I could do. Druva is working hard to make sure that their reports more closely align with the Microsoft Activity reports, so the verification process is easier to reassure the user and team that all files were restored.
I have dealt with MANY support teams in my role as system administer for: Office 365, Concur, Replicon, Webex, Adobe, Dataprise, and MozyPro. The support team at Druva, is far and above the best! They respond quickly, they take action when needed, and they are easy to understand (meaning they don't talk too Techy, to my users). I am very please with all the support we receive from this team!

I have recommended this product to both Microsoft employees and Dataprise employees, so their clients can have the piece of mind that Druva brings me. They all agree that Microsoft's site restoration process is difficult at best, and the ease of restoration with Druva is of great value.

Druva has used by our organization more than five years. We have been using it for our backup purposes for laptop and mobile devices. It is being used across the whole organization. It address one of our prolonging business issues of data loss due to theft or hard disk failure.
  • The first and foremost thing about Druva is user friendliness for both administrators and users.
  • Easy deployment and upgrades of clients.
  • User is able to recover the data by themselves by using web or client.
  • No performance lagging issues when Druva is installed.
  • Only thing I am expecting are slight security improvements.
  • While doing .pst files backup, it should compress at much as possible. Since these days users have more data in mail than [the] system.
  • After upgrading to new version, the ability to roll back to the older version in case of any issues.
Ask about flexibility of implementation and security of data storage. The user should get the assurance of the data privacy. These are well suited by Druva.

Yes
We need support in case critical issues happened that our in house support team wasn't able to solve.
We can get immediate support and response. Online chat is also available where technicians are responding immediately. They will carefully listen and understand our issues and then provide the recommendations and actions. Once the issue solved they will follow up to make sure the customer didn't have the issue again and the issue is resolved.

One time, during a server migration from physical to VM, my server hard disk went to non operational mode where my Druva storage is located. Due to this, the user's backup didn't happen. When I made a request, Druva support people took the remote session and collected the logs and analyzed them. Within hours they came back with a solution and we did the recovery successfully.
