Dundas BI is currently being used by almost all of our admin staff (managers, leadership, IT, HR, recruiting, etc). We implemented a dashboard tool to get away from Excel reporting and expose the data to everyone who needs to see it to help with data integrity and improve productivity. By creating interactive dashboards, we have been able to save our users time by providing the data they need in a fast and easy to use interface. We have also increased our time to market for creating dashboards the business needs.
  • Data Connectors: Dundas BI can connect natively to SQL (relational and OLAP/Tabular), SharePoint, Excel, and a slew of others. The system is flexible enough to allow a user to create their own data connector not available out of the box
  • Visualizations and Interactions: The standard visualizations do a great job of helping us tell a story with our data. Bar chart, pie charts, watefalls, pareto charts, etc., are all simple to set up with the ease of drag and drop. Likewise, the wizards for creating interactions on charts is great.
  • More advanced customizations and interactions can be accomplished via script.
  • HTML5: Dundas BI is based on HTML5, so it will work in any browser.
  • SharePoint/webapp integration: With the use of a web part, dashboards can be embedded within a SharePoint page. We can also take a dashboard we create and embed it in a custom web application.
  • The interface, while very nice, can be confusing to a new user. It takes a little getting used to, although I'm not sure I have any suggestions on making it better.
Dundas BI does great when you need to visualize lots of data. The ability to add filters, charts, tables makes displaying data easy. By using layers, you can create as many pages as you need, with the interactions to flip between those layers without writing any code.

I think where we may not need to use Dundas BI is when someone requests a data dump or Excel style report or just a table filled with data without the need for visuals. While Dundas BI can handle this with no issues, sometimes it's easier to send an Excel sheet as a one off data dump and turn it into a dashboard if that data is needed more often.

I am a profoessional services Manager at Infocloud. I am acting as product manager for Dundas BI where I am responsible for all pre-sales activities related to Dundas BI. Due to the flexibility and ease of use of the tool from one side and the great support that we gain from Dundas company, we succeed to sell the product to many industries in Middle east. Currently we are planning to get inside the North America market.
  • Flexibility, I always tell my customers that you don't need to harm your brain in thinking how to do it in Dundas BI, you just need to think what to do. the tool is so flexible with open API and depending on common programming languages like .Net, JS and HTML5. you can do what ever you want.
  • Single Experience, you don't need to have multiple interfaces for multiple devices like desktop or mobile, whatever you see in the desktop you will see the same in the mobile. sometime it is great to connect to Dundas through the mobile and complete the design of your dashboards.
  • Friendly Tool: unlike other tools, Dundas was designed in attractive way that brain can accept it from first view, with little training or by watching the videos on Dundas website, you can start designing your work.
  • Responsive design: latest version of Dundas BI (V3) allows you to design one dashboard that it applicable on all devices.
  • Easy to install, and easier to upgrade to latest versions. one install file from Dundas website is enough to install the tool with minimum requirement.
  • Supporting large subsets of data like million of records, even the in-Memory analysis is there, but I believe that the tool is running slowly once you run dashboard with millions of records.
  • Out of the box support for social media data sources like facebook, Twitter even they are available on other websites.
  • Enahance the support for big data connections.
Dundas BI is suitable in cases where you are looking for the best dashboard designs and look and feel. You can build Dundas BI as an internal website that is the same as the other process assets inside the organization like Sharepoint or the organization's website colors and designs.

Dundas BI is less appropriate if you want to use the tool as pure data analysis tool specially for non IT people.

We are currently in the beginning phase of developing executive level financial dashboards, but we are amazed at the capabilities and presentation of the visualizations. Dundas BI dashboards will be used to standardize reports for the board of directors, as well as other internal customers such as functional managers, program managers, project leads, etc. There are countless options and we are just scratching the surface.
  • Professional looking data visualizations with flexible presentation options.
  • Software could be geared more toward an average user as opposed to a technologically advanced user.
Dundas BI is excellent for displaying professional looking, interactive visualizations allowing you to drill down to underlying details, etc.

We use DBI as part of the solutions (OEM) we sell to risk and audit [companies} We also sell DBI for use as a standalone dashboard solution. [Our] current focus is on [using it in] an application area so it would go across departments but limited to few users. We do have customers that have rolled out DBI to over 500 users.
  • Linking to various data sources
  • Charts and chart types
  • Easy to build a table
  • Style and feel of product.
  • Deployment model for user and also technology is easy to understand and deploy. I have worked with dashboard solutions since 1994 (10 different technologies) and Dundas BI has been the easiest to install and roll out - easy to understand and use. Obviously building a dashboard can still be complex, but it the ease to roll out that is awesome.
  • Even more grid like functionality to rival Excel (standard user compare to)
  • More Excel like simplicity in using a grid.
  • Better guessing at what type of chart to default and some more default styles
Dundas BI (DBI) is well suited for quick ad hoc analysis - but that depends on the nature of the ad hoc analysis - not as simple as a pivot table but could see using DBI more for guided analysis and dashboards where users want the ability to filter and slice data but with views that are predefined.

Dundas BI is used both at our customers as our own organization as well. We manage our servers, sales, financials and activities in Dundas BI dashboards. In seconds we have proper insight in the status of our KPI's and know what part of the process we should pay more attention to. Since a lot of the information is spread throughout all kind of sources, both in the cloud as locally installed Dundas BI offers one overall dashboard instead of logging in to multiple platforms and looking to non related isolated information.
  • Integration with Excel into the canvas is working extremely well. It amazes me every time again. So simple and so effective.
  • The flexibility to develop your own look and feel. All other tools talk about it but Dundas BI really offers flexibillity
  • I would really like to have more options for making Infographics. Dundas BI offers extreme data visualization, now text visualization!
Well suited for distributing information in dashboards with cool looks.

The broad gap between ERP systems and line of business BI is often filled by expensive and complex third party or custom solutions. Access to key business data and analytics is in the hands of solution specialists rather than those in operations who need it most. Dundas BI bridges this gap well with a cost effective platform for data access, business intelligence and self-service.
  • Ability to quickly gin up what ifs and examples to help management visualize how best to see their data.
  • Comprehensive platform from data sourcing to visualization.
  • Fully browser based and mobile ready.
  • Flexible pricing model uniquely using concept of concurrent users and elasticity.
  • Three dimensional visualization would be nice to add, not a have to have, but would be nice to have.
Probably the best solution we have found for a comprehensive enterprise BI solution which has a chance for a positive ROI.

We are a custom healthcare data integration and analytics provider that is utilizing Dundas BI as a unified data visualization tool to help organizations make more informed decisions about their operations. We've continued the tradition of using Dundas BI applications since its inception as a tool in Microsoft's SQL Server Reporting Services. Dundas BI provides the flexibility to be utilized as an enterprise, individual department or focused information-consumer purpose depending on the needs of the organization.
  • Continued growth and maturity of its products over the years.
  • Has proven to be a relatively simple application to implement with little customization necessary.
  • Dundas BI has an extensive and proven data source collection making integration of multiple disparate data systems virtually seamless.
  • Allows for fast data modeling and visualization deployment.
  • Although not a hard application to understand, Dundas BI can appear intimidating and non-intuitive to new developers until, through proper training, the lexicon and development stages are understood.
  • Their examples libraries are fairly extensive and growing, however having more online samples and multimedia examples are always welcome.
Dundas BI is a multi-functional tool and is well positioned to be used in virtually any scenario. It can be thought of as a painters' blank canvas. Each user has the flexibility to paint their own painting to get their story across.

We use Dundas BI to help our customers visualize their pertinent data and become more able to dynamically adjust their business in real time to be more profitable and efficient. Everyone has terabytes of data stored up on their servers and in their cloud based data grids, but it is hard to find the data that is actually meaningful when you need it. With Dundas BI we bring that data out into a single dashboard that provides our customers with the data they need to be successful. Why crunch numbers when you can look at pretty colors and gauges and know exactly what is happening?
  • Dundas BI is very easy to install. They have clearly put a lot of work into packaging their software and also ensuring it is smart enough to go out and get the things it needs if they don't already exist. It is really easy to install.
  • Dundas BI, by using HTML5, makes it very easy to visualize the data. Every modern browser now supports HTML5 without requiring Silverlight, Java, or some other clunky technology that has recently been banned by Homeland Security.
  • Dundas BI makes it very easy to create data connections and start to build the dashboards that bring value to your organization. Everything is done in an easy to use and figure out interface. You can also drag and drop data right into the panes as usable data. Very slick.
  • Not too many cons for how we use the application. It really is easy and powerful. Very powerful.
  • Licensing is one thing that could be looked into. It is simple, but a little confusing. For example, if I get a license today, but a new release comes out tomorrow, it seems that the license doesn't work with the new release. Maybe that is by design, but it would be nice to clearly understand.
Dundas BI is a tool that every business should have. Having the ability to quickly and easily visualize data is something that was mostly a dream a few years ago. Today Dundas BI has made it a reality. As long as you know the data you need, you can quickly bring it from boring numbers to pretty colors, charts, and gauges that even top level executives can understand.

Dundas BI is being used to provide several thousand independent business people who have a relationship with our company with performance management tools. It is also used by internal departments for data analysis.
  • Simple to implement and maintain.
  • Flexible - We were able to accommodate several integration scenarios.
  • Development environment that is easy to learn.
  • Dundas BI is a relatively new product. While I am very happy with the product, I look forward to the continued addition of new features as the product evolves.
  • I would like to see a more extensive set of documentation.
Dundas BI is well suited to seamlessly integrating dashboards into a website.

I'm unaware of the number of users we have that view our dashboards created in BI. We have a few developers in our team for which BI is involved in their daily work. Dundas BI allows the sales (business) side to view data in a easy to digest format that is visually appealing.
  • It's a robust platform that has a lot of versatility for your average user.
  • It has powerful developer tools for creating dashboards.
  • There's been some feature requests I've made, however they are recent so I'm unaware where they will go.
  • There needs to be more documentation for developers.

We use Dundas BI in conjunction with our own software and solutions. As a software and solutions provider, Dundas BI was an easy decision to be a reseller. First off, the open API allows for quick integration into our customers' ERP systems. It is also a great product to embed in other web parts and third party applications. The product solves numerous business problems for our customer base with its self-service BI platform.
  • Dundas BI has an open API allowing for quick connectivity into proprietary databases.
  • The graphics are second to none.
  • The ETL package is perfect for data users who need to move and transform information.
  • The product should be offered as a desktop offering so smaller firms can take advantage of its power.
Dundas BI is less appropriate for those firms primarily interested in reporting and the smaller firm that wants one user to publish dashboards.

We are currently in the process of implementing Dundas BI to provide enterprise-wide dashboard and reporting capability. This will be a migration from the previous Dundas offering, Dundas Dashboard. Dundas BI will allow us to provide financial, strategic, and operational dashboards to all levels of users within our organization.
  • Integration - Dundas BI has an extensive API that allows for almost limitless flexibility. The available APIs include .NET, JavaScript, and REST APIs. By leveraging the API functionality and standard web development tools like jQuery and CSS the application is extremely easy to customize. Need to include a bootstrap menu or component within your dashboard? Add the bootstrap CSS and insert the necessary HTML in the page. The HTML5-based nature of the application makes it super easy to work with.
  • Load balancing - Load balancing is included right out of the box with Dundas BI. Installing a secondary instance and connecting it to your existing Dundas BI database is a simple 10 minute task. Dundas has done a great job here with making installing and managing multiple instances very straightforward.
  • Mobile - Dundas BI has outstanding mobile support out of the box. Again, the HTML5 based nature of the tool makes easy work of creating resizable dashboards/components that work on a wide variety of devices and screen resolutions. Obviously, touch-based events are also supported.
  • Data Connectivity - Dundas BI includes a wide variety of data connectors out of the box. However, you're also free to create your own data provider using the Dundas BI API if needed.
  • Platform - Dundas BI represents a comprehensive BI platform in a single package. It is not just a visualization tool. While we are leveraging SSAS as our primary data source, Dundas has included a built in OLAP engine within the product for companies who wish to implement everything within the platform. The inclusion of R server integration is a nice added bonus.
  • Product Maturity - Dundas BI is still a relatively new product on the market--recently releasing their second major version. There is the occasional unexpected behavior or feature that seems to be missing/incomplete. Dundas support is very responsive with these items and tends to release several minor updates between major releases to remedy these issues.
  • Documentation - Again, this is a maturity discussion. Dundas is doing a great job adding new content to their support site. However, they still have some progress to make in this area.
  • User Community - Dundas does not have an interactive user community that I am aware of. A product of this scale almost demands a forum or similar platform to allow users to collaborate, share code 'snippets' and generally show off what can be done with the product.
Dundas BI is well suited for anyone who needs a comprehensive BI platform or embedded BI within an existing web/Intranet application. The only scenario where it might not be appropriate is if your company is using older browsers (<IE10) and is unable to upgrade its user base company-wide to a modern browser.

Our organization assists other companies with the implementation of Dundas BI.
  • Visualizations: we've worked with numerous dashboard and BI solutions and the visualizations that come out of Dundas BI can't be matched.
  • Performance: Dundas BI is extremely robust.
  • Support: The Dundas support team is absolutely top notch.
  • Complex: Dundas BI is extremely comprehensive, we've found there's little it can't do. This though comes at somewhat of a cost, as it can become complex.
For mobile users Dundas BI visualizations can be a bit tough. There's no mobile native app, which means navigating from a phone can get sticky.

We currently use Dundas BI, to build operational KPI, sales driven, and platform specific dashboards. These dashboards are used by various departments, across the entire organization. These dashboards allows us to quickly identify problems within our application and resolve complex issues, as well as drive business decisions around sales, customer service and business processes.
  • Dundas BI provides a user interface that is both powerful and user friendly. You are able to quickly pull data out for consumption, and with more effort provide a very polished and professional presentation of the data.
  • Dundas the company is vested in the successful deployment of the platform and has been exceptional in their support and involvement of our implementation.
  • Dundas BI is very flexible in allowing connections to most any data source, and provides the ability to script data transformations as part of the data cubes.
  • Dundas BI can be intimidating to initial users. There are a lot of options which make the platform very flexible, which can also make some of the features difficult to implement correctly. While you don't need to be a BI expert to get information from Dundas, you do need to speak "Dundas" to build the more complex dashboards.
  • The Dundas BI interface can be non-intuitive at times, and some tasks which should be very simple may require contacting support to find the correct way to perform them.
Dundas BI is well suited for dashboarding of information that is kept in a logical way. Dundas BI wants to push as much of the data work down to the data source as possible. Dundas BI can do some amazing things once the data is within its own data cubes, however the more complex the data the slower these functions can become.

We are a small software company servicing the homebuilding industry - we sell Dundas BI to our clients as part of a complete reporting package. Our clients use Dundas BI across multiple departments. Dundas BI gives our clients the ability to analyze the data, spot trends and make informed decisions based on the data that is presented in the Dundas BI dashboards.
  • As a software package, Dundas BI is extremely flexible - if you can dream it, you can most likely build it in Dundas BI. The possibilities are quite literally limitless. This puts Dundas BI is a position of strength relative to other BI vendors since DBI doesn't limit a user to a canned set of pre-defined visualization types; those do exist, but are not the end of the story.
  • Since the software is based on the latest technologies (HTML5, CSS and JavaScript) Dundas BI is in a unique position to capitalize on the ever-expanding Internet of things. Try doing that with other major BI players, most of whom rely on some form of legacy technology (trust me, we looked).
  • As a company, it is obvious that Dundas has made product support a priority. As a software provider who provides support to clients, I'm rather persnickety about support; the Dundas BI support team provides consistent, concise support in a timely manner. If the first line support team doesn't know the answer, they have access to the developers and the professional services team. Dundas BI support rocks!
  • This is something that I believe Dundas is currently working on - I would like to see more documentation (with examples) on the Dundas BI JavaScript API.
At the risk of sounding like a shill for Dundas BI, I can't imagine a scenario that would preclude the use of Dundas. If a company searching for a BI solution does their due diligence, all roads lead to Dundas BI. Our company went through this exercise less than 2 years ago and Dundas BI is the only product that met all of our requirements.

Dundas BI is being used across the whole organization by every department. Our IT staff is no longer spending hours running extracts and queries against our databases for users to be able to get the data they need to make business decisions. It is also used by executives for tracking sales, revenue, billing and for forecasting.
  • SUPER EASY to use!
  • Flexible, no matter what kind of data they make it easy to slice and dice quickly and easily.
  • Alerts - these are so handy for companies that can't monitor data 24 / 7.
We haven't found anything it can't do. We've shut down all our other BI and graphing systems and only use Dundas BI now.

Dundas BI is the dashboard development tool of choice for our organization. It's easy to pull data from multiple sources into a single dashboard. The visualizations are both powerful and beautiful, allowing designers to quickly and easily communicate complex information in a way that is easy for users to understand at a glance.
  • Data access - Dundas BI has built in data connectors for every type of data we have needed, from Excel to SQL Server, to Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Google Analytics. Connecting to data is a breeze.
  • Sharing objects and resources between projects is easy and saves a lot of time.
  • Visualizations are very flexible and customizable.
  • Scripting is easy with the JavaScript API.
  • Dundas BI provides the ability to use dynamic measures and hierarchies, but the period over period calculations (PoP) are not supported with dynamic elements when the dynamic element is a time hierarchy. For example, if the requirement is to allow users to select Fiscal Year vs. Calendar Year, we are not able to then use PoP calculations.
We are basically a Microsoft SQL shop, and Dundas BI has been an excellent fit for our environment. Also, anyone just starting out with mapping will find it easy to use the map visualizations, right out of the box. It is easy to add multiple data series to a single map and produce sophisticated results. This has been a tremendous value add for our users.

Dundas BI is the tool of choice for our organization when it comes to data visualizations. The tool allows for rapid development of highly impactful dashboards, by non-IT personnel none the less, that are published both internally and externally, as well as consumed on multiple platforms. Self-service is key to our internal users and with Dundas BI this is done with the greatest of ease and in a powerful way. Highly recommend the tool!!
  • Rapid development by non-IT personnel
  • Cross platform
  • Self-service
  • Extensive library of visual components
  • Truly interactive maps based on big data
  • Presenting formatted text
  • Publishing the "library" of available visualizations
Dundas BI is very well suited for self-service and data exploration as well as pre-defined dashboards.

Director Dashboard Reports for the reporting financial & performance information providing live and up to date information.
  • User friendly
  • Caches and manages large amounts of data very well without impacting the live system.
  • Flexible design.
  • Great step by step support videos.
  • We moved from Dundas Dashboard to Dundas BI which solved most of the browser legacy issues we experienced.
Suited for live reporting; not good for mobile reporting while offline.

Dundas BI provides us the ability to portray and display what, may be considered complicated and overwhelming, in an interactive, cohesive, logical and easy to understand manner. We use the platform to show interactive charts and portray performance data relative to client investment accounts. We are able to answer all the important questions using data displayed in such a manner that provides the client with both a "big picture" overview and, also, the details of each account and then - the accounts as a whole. It has been an invaluable investment in our firm and our clients.
  • Dynamic and interactive charting.
  • Taking raw data and making it meaningful.
  • Visual portrayal of accounts, performance, relativity, risk, cash, flow, etc.
  • A way to use Dundas BI platform on our website - or ability to link to website.
I can not think of any scenarios where Dundas BI would not be well suited.

The majority of our company employees work in remote locations. We use Dundas BI to track response times in our call center and productivity metrics for each employee.
  • Dundas allows me to write direct SQL statements to retrieve data from my database.
  • I can copy and paste various elements of dashboards from one area to another, thereby reducing development time.
  • The documentation is searchable and very extensive.
  • I would like to see additional presentation chart objects (e.g. different types of pie charts, bar charts, etc.).
  • I would like to have preconfigured templates with color palettes already configured (I am lousy at picking complementary colors).

Dundas BI is currently being used by our research and development team to better visualize manufacturing defects and identify issues causing re-work for an active production line. The problem being addressed involves the high amount of defects impacting first time quality rates and the added cost of re-work to the program.
  • Dundas BI is easy to use and does not take a developer or software engineer to create.
  • Dundas BI is able to integrate and exchange data with almost any web service tool.
  • I love the fact that it is HTML 5 compliant and does not require Silverlight, and is compliant with smart phones and tablets for automatic re-sizing to fit your data viewing output medium.
  • Dundas support is great and is available to help out in a bind.
  • So far I haven't seen anything.
It is well suited to handle all types of data sources and provides great way to connect to data from multiple sources. It is very helpful in identifying areas currently being tracked by metrics to measure trends in performance, output, safety, cost, and schedule. Dundas BI provides power users the capability to create their own customizable dashboard views on the fly with little to no effort, when the need for viewing the data in another way [arises].

At my previous company, Dundas Dashboard was being widely used across a global organization. One of the main business problems it solved was enabling business users to create BI tools without dealing with the constraints within IT, a constant bottleneck. Currently, in my new role, I'm helping other companies make the right choice regarding BI platform and strategy; the flexibility and ease of use of Dundas BI is making it a smart choice.
  • Dundas BI has achieved a unique balance of providing powerful capabilities for both the sophisticated software professional and the non-technical business user.
  • The time required to learn how to build powerful visualizations using Dundas BI is very short due to the wealth of well-organized videos, articles and support center.
  • Dundas BI has demonstrated a high degree of responsiveness to customer demands and emerging trends through its well-paced releases packed with improvements.
  • Dundas BI can become even better as it includes more robust data mining capabilities within its engine.
Dundas BI is well suited for organizations requiring trustworthy, enterprise grade BI capabilities.
