Dynatrace monitoring tool is used by our IT division, which in case of tool using includes IT ops, QA, dev and partially product team. Tool gives great view of app performance and provides business crucial metrics if using DEM module. Accelerates product delivery process, helps to detect any anomaly pre-production or production environment. AI makes the monitoring process easier and provides exact suggestions.
  • Root cause analysis.
  • AI option.
  • Self baseline discovery.
  • Price.
  • Login issue.
Based on my experience with this tool, it provides great visibility of application that is running in any environment. Code level visibility and AI root cause analysis helps to built proper code and reduces MTTR on production. Also, tool helps to avoid war rooms, because everyone sees what is going on when having exact samples what to fix.

We use it across 30% of our organization currently, and we are expanding that to include our infrastructure and entire application development teams. Being able to use predictive modeling has allowed us to find issues before they occur. Dynatrace is easy to use and enables the teams to be more proactive and less reactive. Allowing more time for them to do the jobs they are supposed to do and not troubleshoot issues.

Dynatrace is an excellent tool for predictive monitoring. The product allows the team to realize the issues that may be coming in the future and stop them before they start. This has shown value time and time again in our organization even with third-party tools that are being hosted in-house.

It is used for monitoring the most important applications in our environment. It helps us capture a lot of application-level information that is very helpful to fix a lot of issues.
  • We can look at method/class level data using Dynatrace App Monitoring.
  • We can look very closely at overall application health along with infrastructure.
  • Very good to monitor and capture UEM data.
  • More infrastructure monitoring out of the box would be a great feature.
  • Monitoring things like certs expiring.
  • AI already exists in newer Dynatrace OneAgent
  • Seamless Integration with OneAgent.
Appmon is a wonderful tool to capture and monitor application-level performance. However, the cost of the product is very high and so, it is difficult to use it across the enterprise.

We use Dynatrace as the main application monitoring solution. We have an APM team that is the main user base for it, but our application support and business teams also use it. It helps determine what the pains of the application are and allow development to fix those before it affects a large number of users.

  • Group management
Essentially, as long as you have an application that meets the supported technologies, you should be using Dynatrace.

Dynatrace Application monitoring is being used for a particular project for a banking client in UK for Wipro. We are using this product for providing the application performance management where we can see various aspects in terms of performance of the application we are running. Ee have even evaluated AppDynamics for this use case but we have picked up Dynatrace.
  • Context Specific drill down from the dashboard to the class level
  • Outstanding support around Windows and Linux
  • Easy to install and get it running
  • Helps to determine the root cause of the problem in a very good way
  • Not enough focus on roles and empowering the adminisrators of Dynatrace of the SaaS version
  • Under high load, performance of Dynatrace is not that good. I feel this is where it can improve.
  • A bit difficult to automate the different processes that users occupy with the different applications.
Well suited scenarios - Drilled down to the class level of the code from the dashboard which helps in doing the root cause analysis of the problem.

I'll not pick this tool for the cloud environment as I felt installation on the cloud servers is bit difficult. I wish there was a feature that would allow a Dynatrace administrator to remotely uninstall/remove the cloud agent from the Dynatrace management console without having to physically log on to each server to achieve that task.

Trace your issues with Dynatrace!

It is being used throughout our entire IT department, including Developers and Engineers. The ability to recognize an issue as well as using the backtrace to troubleshoot to a specific code to solve the issue have been extremely important in our world. We have become very reliant on Dynatrace and it is with good reason. Downtimes have been cut drastically, mostly before the end-user notices anything happening.
  • Server and services monitoring. We catch the problem prior to it becoming serious
  • Network monitoring. If our connection goes down, we can trace it to the source immediately
  • Database monitoring. DB failure rates are shown as well as where it has failed.
  • Closer to realtime monitoring. 30 minute monitoring window is not helpful. I don't need to wait half an hour to have the monitoring updated
Very high learning curve. Take the training videos and virtually memorize them. When the product is completely understood and navigation is natural, then Dynatrace is an extremely useful too. Implementation can be tricky, but the Dynatrace team is eager to assist in all aspects of utilization. From intial evaluation, to startup, and finally to usage. They are more than willing to train as often as needed.

Dynatrace Application Monitoring is primarily used by the Search team for our e-commerce platform. Dynatrace allows us to quantify the performance of our search features across various metrics. Over the past few years, this has been a key factor in improving our overall search experience for customers on our e-commerce platform.

  • Intuitive to use, quick onboarding
  • Simple setup and installation
  • Easy metric tracking
  • Metric tracking allows quick problem identification
  • Very heavy tool, requires high spec servers
  • Automation options are limited
  • Cannot customise for specific business needs
Dynatrace Application Monitoring works well if you want to track performance of customer facing applications or sub-applications because of its robust monitoring metrics. It also handles high volume applications well.

On the other hand, if you wish to monitor performance of a back-end service, it might be better to build a monitoring service using Splunk.

We use Dynatrace as a monitoring tool across my organization. We have a very strong performance engineering team that are responsible for making sure our application is stable and reliable. To make sure of that, we need a strong monitoring tool to help our engineers to find out the performance slowness in all layers (application, middleware, database).

  • I am fine with the capabilities but could use improvements to customer support
  • Price
One of the best features is it will automatically alert you if anything goes wrong. You just need to set the baseline metrics and it will consistently gather information and analyze it to notify you if there is any deviation. It provides excellent dashboards that can be customized as required. Excellent tool, highly recommend.

We use Dynatrace to speed detection of problems and resolution in addition to explore key user metrics and information in an easily digestible format
  • Always delivering new features based on customer requests
  • Anomaly detection “out of the box” so you know when parts of an application become slow or unavailible
  • Rich support for plugin and API integrations for flexibility
  • Ability to use the deep inspection of .NET and java objects to do counts and transaction tracking across application layers
Because Dynatrace as a company shows true customer focus and is continually and rapidly delivering new features based on customer request

Dynatrace is probably the best Application Performance Management software around

We use Dynatrace to monitor performance across a suite of systems that comprise our ERP system. Our system of systems include Sage X3 ERP system, Acumen Clockview Time and attendance system, and two custom, in-house developed .NET applications (Operations Center, and CrateMaker). When we went live with this suite of systems, we had significant performance problems, and needed some tools to find and address performance problems. Dynatrace was an easy installation, that gave us insight to the performance of the network, servers, storage systems, databases, and applications all with a single agent installed on a handfull of servers. Dynatrace also enabled us to monitor performance from the user perspective, so we could trace performance from user workstation when a button was clicked to identify slow performance, and trace that all the way back to the SQL query and see where the slow down was. We could identify bad SQL queries, slow database performance, slow infrastructure performance, or slow workstations. We could detect problems before users experienced them. Dynatrace was very very useful.
  • Visibility at every layer of the technology stack
  • Super easy installation through a single agent across every platform, to include server and workstation.
  • Easy ability to navigate through the interface and drill down to the underlying problem - without a masters degree in anything. I was up and running the day I installed the first agent.
  • Automated alerts to notify you when issues arise - before someone tells you the system crashed or is slow.
  • The ability to see the interconnected system of systems, and to see the relationships of one event on other services.
  • Cost. It is expensive, but you get what you pay for.
Great for ERP systems and other critical business systems

Great for Web-based applications, either internal or external, where performance and user experience is important.

We use Dynatrace across all of our offices across North America to trouble shoot end user issues with applications.
  • Dynatrace saves a lot of time in determining what is the likely cause of an issue a end user maybe experiencing.
  • We had users in a remote office that were complaining of application latency and we were able to determine the problem stemmed from a router configuration with the help of dynatrace.
  • There are so many options that are nested. If there is a way to make the user interface a little more intuitive, that would be great.,
Dynatrace is extremely well suited for an application that is run in both local and remote offices that query a database. The data it collects is in real time and can be compared to historical data.

It is used by certain departments within the organization at this time. Both production and pre-production are leveraging DT. We are working with more groups to try and simplify the monitoring tools landscape and bring more over to Dynatrace.
  • Has assisted with a much faster mean time to deliver based on the data provided during outages and incidents
  • The tool provides the details necessary to engage the different teams where issues may arise - especially when those teams do not want to accept fault
  • Monitoring!
  • The artificial intelligence could be increased and improved upon
  • Log analytics would be a great addition
  • Less agent management
App mon supports our production environments but also has been added to some pre-production environments in order to monitor changes to code before they are pushed into the production environments to allow dev teams to see the impact to the business that their changes may have before deploying.

It is being used by our customers to monitor their e-commerce platforms and applications.
  • Finding the root cause on every level of the stack. Developers can pinpoint the causes and provide solutions or development areas.
  • Monthly reports would be a great addition. Now we need to hand build the reports from weekly reports. Most of the customers want to have monthly reviews.
Well suited when there is a customer with a solution that has issues and they would like to start monitoring. With Dynatrace SaaS is very easy to start monitoring fast with the 2-weeks trial... usually helps a lot with after sales.

Dynatrace is used across the organisation, primarily for troubleshooting application performance issues. It is used in multiple applications, from customer facing web applications to internal back office web services and user applications. We use the full stack monitoring including the Synthetic (Gomez) last mile monitoring for our public facing web journeys.
  • Mapping the application stack dependancies using the smartscape view
  • Alerting of problems
  • Root Cause analysis with Purepath
  • Log correlation and aggregation
  • Rich mobile application for smart phones and tablets
