Dynatrace OneAgent is being used in multiple projects at DaVita. Our primary usage is for production support, checking docker container/services health, and heap size monitoring.
  • Session Replay
  • Infrastructure Monitoring
  • Traversing through UI can be improved.
The Power Dashboarding, Real User monitoring and infrastructure monitoring are some of the great features that are suited for our organization.

Dynatrace is used to monitor some of our critical applications and the OneAgent is installed on all the servers hosting processes/services related to those applications. We look at infrastructure, process, services and applications. We combined synthetic transactions and real user monitoring to know how the application is doing. We build dashboards that are then used by our Control Center.
  • Easy synthetic transaction recording.
  • Easy deployment of the agent.
  • Support of legacy technologies.
  • Support for API development.
Dynatrace is well suited for:
- Monitoring end to end critical applications if they are all on-premise.
- Quick agents deployment.
- View of the entire stack.
- Point problems using the AI built-in (Davis).

We use it as an APM tool for monitoring our production and other environments. It monitors infrastructure services (full stack) end 2 end monitoring in a multi-tenant environment. It is used by multiple teams: Ops, Engg, performance teams, etc, to monitor different environments by the organization. We primarily use it to track the infrastructure level issues as well as performance issues.
  • Initial setup is easy.
  • Dashboards and reporting functionality is good.
  • Sometimes the information is presented on different screens and we get lost navigating from screen to screen.
  • If we can simplify the user experience and present more info relevant to the user.
Dynatrace's monitoring and alerting is good, initial setup is easy, UI experience is good to start with, and the dashboard is good but could be extended.

We are using Dynatrace primarily to monitor the production operations systems across multiple Clouds. The primary user of this tool within our organization is the Cloud Operations team. We monitor for service level performance, API level performance index and are planning extend this usage to develop an overall health index for our product in the production systems.
  • Collecting the data from multiple sources and display in a single pane of glass.
  • Excellent monitoring and alerting capability.
  • Product on-boarding took longer than we initially anticipated.
  • It would be nice if we have some pre-canned reports to start with after initial on-boarding.
Dynatrace is well suited for organizations who are willing to use this product across multiple disciplines like Product Management, Operations, QA and Devops given the cost of investment and to get better ROI. It is less appropriate for smaller startups with a smaller BUDGET.

Dynatrace is being used to monitor the majority of production applications. This includes payments, b2b, database calls. It is used by operations and developers. It addressed getting APM into our org for automation and containerization.
  • Dynatrace was quick and easy to implement so we could see an immediate impact.
  • Root cause analysis and problem identification help lower MTTR.
  • The UI is easy to use, which makes for quick adoption.
  • The ability to alert on low volume right out of the box for transactions and services would be nice.
  • The fact that you can’t resize the number of open problems tile is frustrating.
  • The beehive dashboard page is worthless.
Well suited for automation and containerization. It is less appropriate for Ruby and web methods.

Dynatrace is available throughout the organization, but is deployed based on infrastructure of the departments and applications which would like to on-board. We use it for Application Performance Monitoring and User session tracking in addition to standard infrastructure monitoring and alerting.
  • Application Performance Monitoring
  • Real User Session Monitoring
  • Some automation friendly features currently missing
  • More granular user permissions
Application Performance Monitoring! It's great for that, let's you know very quickly when it detects a problem, based on very reasonable and customizable heuristics. Easy to deploy! Just a single agent to install, and it the auto-discovers other components, services, and infrastructure automatically. Real User monitoring! Find out insights about how users are actually using your website or mobile app and find out quickly when and where issues arise in your mobile app infrastructure.

Dynatrace is used to monitor all of our critical systems including databases, VMware, Linux servers, rancher clusters, and cloud infrastructure. It is primarily used by operations and dev teams to troubleshoot and monitor our apps and systems. We need 100% uptime and Dynatrace helps us get there.
  • Service flow does a good job of showing the app-to-app dependencies and downstream issues.
  • Alerting and integration makes it easy to know when a critical problem arises.
  • Host license management is non-existent. Needs way better visibility and reporting.
  • Not much native support for web-methods.
Dynatrace does great at baselining applications and letting you know when an app is outside of its normal thresholds. We have legacy apps that throw errors all the time and need to be able to ignore the normal amount of errors. The frequent issue functionality solves this problem.

Dynatrace is being used primarily by our business and product engineering operations teams. Its an initiative owned by the operations team, which we also share out to the dev teams to also use. Its primary goal in our setup is to provide monitoring insight to certain application stacks and to perform synthetic monitoring. We look for the tool to provide insight into dependencies, during incident troubleshooting, and to perform just overall health checks.
  • Dynatrace is pretty solid with root cause identification. Even if it's not hooked into the entire platform, it can analyze the flows of data in and out of the app and server to form a picture of where there might be unusual slowdowns or other errors. This can help speed up the time needed to troubleshoot incidents.
  • The dependencies breakdown is useful to seeing a high level flow of how data can travel between multiple dependent applications and how performance of that data can potentially degrade.
  • The UI can feel a little crowded and hard to pick up on the fly. I think it has to do with the wealth of features that are available, but it still makes it difficult for non-technical and even some technical teammates to pick up and run with.
  • The organization of access for various aspects of data is robust, but also seems a little too open in a way. It requires dedication and oversight to make sure new applications are being added in a similar way so that the access to see the data is consistent with the other applications.
Dynatrace would be well suited for platforms where a large variety of applications and services are interacting at any given time. Given the complex nature of inter-app communications, identifying root causes and how the downstream impact of certain performance issues can be a bit more difficult with other non-APM style solutions. However, if you have a set-up where there is a heavy emphasis on legacy style infrastructure monitoring, Dynatrace might not quite fulfill your existing needs completely. There will be some gaps based on infrastructure focused monitoring, but this likely depends on your current implementation.

Dynatrace is being used by our whole organization. Furthermore, we try to implement it at other customers, mostly starting at departments and then try to expand throughout the whole organization. We address performance issues, code-level issues, resource management issues, and cloud migration issues. Dynatrace helps us in creating in-depth full-stack overviews where the AI Davis leverages the most important information and helps in resolving complex issues.
  • Full-stack visibility.
  • Automation.
  • Complex tool to use.
  • Limited data visibility from within the tool.
When your environment is big, complex and going through a transformation Dynatrace is the tool that is a must-have. It helps you in creating observability and control over your transformation. It also helps in making sure that developers can focus on developing.

It is used to monitor the infrastructure and copy pure path information to investigate client issues. We resolve issues in code, methods, and other parts of the request workflow. This helps to identify and pinpoint the problem ASAP.
  • Pure path monitoring.
  • Business flow and transaction monitoring.
It is well suited for application monitoring and infrastructure monitoring. I am not sure about its capability of business transaction analytics. However, it is well suited for application monitoring and infrastructure monitoring.

  • Monitoring of websites and applications.
  • Granularity in patterns and code anomalies.
  • Templates for settings and environment set-up.
Dynatrace is suited for a CI/CD company that would like to roll out code a lot throughout the day.

This is the only tool that supports a multi-hybrid cloud environment and it meets our needs for complex and distributed apps that are supported by different teams. It's capability to discover apps and reduce the number of bugs was key in our decision making. We have also been able to increase the frequency of deployments.
  • Multi-hybrid cloud solution!
Dynatrace is well-suited for multi-hybrid cloud and on-prem environments.

It's being used by IT to troubleshoot incidents that may impact our customers in a variety of ways. We have different types of systems, some distributed across thousands of stores and some running in centralized data centers. The scale is unmanageable without this type of platform.
  • Automated topology discovery is useful as no one ever seems to know the bigger picture.
  • The Davis AI anomaly detection removes the guesswork.
  • Some services can get pulled into problems and correlated even when unrelated.
  • Some services that aren't deployed frequently require numerous restarts to keep up with the frequent release schedule.
In the organization I am in, a tool like Dynatrace is a must. It should be monitoring your infrastructure and integrated into your build pipelines and performance pipelines. When you have customers and revenue tied to your system, you can't afford to not know exactly how it's performing.

We use Dynatrace across the company to monitor our critical business applications so that our customers are getting the best experience possible from us. Dynatrace allows us to deploy faster with less man power than competing products and helps identify issues automatically.
  • OneAgent deployment is really easy.
  • AI baselines and automatic problem identification.
  • Licensing model complexities for large companies.
  • Better APIs to bring more transparencies to the usage of the tool (dem usage, host unit usage, etc).
We use Dynatrace on a large chunk of our Openshift implementation and it works well for us there. It's easy to spin up a container with our OneAgent ready to go. We would love to see more mainframe support in the product so we can migrate off of the AppMon product.

I started using recently Dynatrace at an enterprise level. The tool is very user-friendly. We are performing in infrastructure and business-critical applications. We recommend this product to other vendors who are willing to move to a better monitoring tool. We recently deployed APM in one business-critical application where we could found the performance issue at a code level. This product is amazing for those working in the IT sector.
  • Has increased the performance of our system.
  • One of the best monitoring tools in the current digital transformation platform.
  • It needs more investment to integrate multiple other tools.
  • Most users require training to understand the product.
Dynatrace is an excellent user-friendly APM monitoring tool in the digital area. I would recommend friends and vendors to use this product since it has more capability and performance in the automation area. It also offers better integration capabilities.

Our DevOps, engineering, QA and product teams all use Dynatrace in some capacity. Product primarily uses real-user monitoring and session replay features to detect issues and gain insight into how users are engaging with our product.
  • Session replay capabilities.
  • Ability to detect quickly how many users where impacted by an issue.
  • Tagging features associated with session replay.
  • Masking capabilities.
From a product perspective, I have gained quick insight into how our users are engaging with new features via Session Replay immediately following a release. The ability to quickly detect how many users are impacted by an issue and ability to drill down to see how has been resourceful from a CS, marketing and product perspective.

Dynatrace is being used with the IT department of the organization. It has reduced the speed to resolution of environmental issues and provided more insight into how the environment is performing overall. It also easily integrates into other software, allowing for the ability to automate problem resolution for recurring issues.
  • Dynatrace is easy to deploy. The previous APM that my organization used required manual configuration for each new deployment. Dynatrace saves the team substantial time by doing this for us.
  • Dynatrace alerting integrates into a number of platforms, which has allowed us to spend less time with "eyes on glass" and more time implementing new tools.
  • Dynatrace does not provide an easy way of tracking license usage and growth. Environment growth must be manually looked up, instead of providing any kind of alerts that the environment may be about to hit the license cap.
Dynatrace is well suited for large, complex environments where tracking down issues could be tedious and time-intensive. Its ability to determine root-cause for issues is highly accurate and has saved us a large amount of time. It does not perform as well when the environment has a number of small issues that arise during the day, as problems will be opened for each environmental "blip".

Dynatrace is being used across our organization as a whole. In my team, Dynatrace has allowed us to streamline the support processes. The new version is even more powerful than APPMON. It integrates with our ticketing system and when an event occurs an incident is created for the appropriate support group and we receive an alert at the same time. We also use it to troubleshoot all issues encountered with the systems. We can also view and correct issues before the users are impacted.
  • The real user monitoring (RUM) is especially great and allows the use of session replays which allow us to see exactly what the users experienced on their screen.
  • The dashboarding capabilities are fantastic and allow the tracking of key functionalities as well as sending automatic reports to users and groups of users.
  • I don't see anything to be improved off-hand as I have just recently been introduced to the new version. The people from Dynatrace have even more improvements road mapped for the near future.
I work in systems maintenance, and Dynatrace is well suited for every type of investigation that needs to be done. The new version is even more powerful and will allow us to use the Session Replay feature. Dynatrace is a great tool and has also allowed us to streamline the support processes.

Dynatrace is currently being used in several areas across the enterprise, likely around 25-30%. This will continue to grow as more services are brought on board. We are looking for more responsive monitoring, self-correcting, and usable data, not just data.
  • Customizable dashboards.
  • Reduces the noise of unnecessary alerts.
  • Easier ways to monitor thick-client applications.
  • Increased data logging retention options.
All of our web-apps should have this implemented. App health and real-time self-healing are good now and will only get better. We have several thick-client applications which would benefit hugely from this type of RUM and logging. Hopefully, we can make it an affordable option.

Dynatrace is used to monitor and troubleshoot mission critical applications. Those applications use different technologies from back-end legacy systems, relational & No-SQL databases, applications run mainly in Java and Linux and Windows machines, some applications are on cloud environments. Currently in my team it helps us a lot during performance testing to spot different kinds of issues - logical, infrastructure & network. There are other modules that we would like to implement to monitor user experience.
  • Troubleshoot DB issues.
  • Readability of full paths.
It is well suited in cases not only where monitoring is important, it also provides important information on how your application is being used so that you can can make critical business decisions for your business. At this time I can't see any scenario where it shouldn't be used.
