Dynatrace is mostly used by the monitoring team, and if there is a code issue, it gets passed on to the developers' team.
  • User session gethering and parsing
  • Complex issues detection
  • Customer support
  • Flexible pricing
Dynatrace is great to have a general, for an overview into the huge applications with multiple dependencies, but it's not a best tool for dashboarding and getting the code level bugs fixed.

Our IT department is using Dynatrace for Application Performance Monitoring.
  • Identifies performance issues
  • Displays problems in a clear manner
  • Button label terminology
  • UI could be more intuitive
I believe Dynatrace is well suited to show granular detail of the issues that are occurring to help rectify performance issues with enterprise applications.

We use Dynatrace to monitor our applications and infrastructure, both on-premises and in the cloud. Dynatrace helps us to make sure all systems are stable and operating properly.
  • User interface
  • CPU and memory monitoring
  • Some advanced features are not well documented
  • Google cloud support
Dynatrace is well suited for monitoring legacy monolithic apps as well as microservices-based architectures. Dynatrace works really well out-of-the-box, but it needs a lot of customization to work properly for some more advanced setups. Training is available, but not clear at times for people who are looking for more advanced topics.

It is being used to provide root cause findings and to prevent issues from taking systems down so users are not inconvenienced from an outage. the real user monitoring is outstanding, being able to reply want user did on web app is great. And being able to create conversion goals to show business their money value is awesome.
  • Session replay to show what users did
  • Easy of integration with API
  • Management of zones and groups
  • Intregration with CA Products
  • integration with F5
Finding the load blocks with our applications and the F5 load balancer. monitoring applications in cloud and in our on netwook, and also able to create conversion goals to show where the money is going

Currently, Dynatrace is being used by multiple lines of business to provide telemetry, monitoring, and alerting for internal applications.
  • Ability to gather telemetry for a multitude of technologies
  • Smartly organizing data in its user interface
  • Not all AppMon functionality has been ported over to new product, causing confusion
  • API is still feature incomplete
Dynatrace is well suited for applications with appropriate volume and continuous services. Not suited for batch-style operations and other complex, disjointed scenarios.

Dynatrace has been implemented across our enterprise. Dynatrace has provided the end-to-end visibility we've needed to quickly identify and address issues within our organization.
  • Ease of installation
  • Ease of use
  • UI changes for the host monitoring section to exclude some of the metrics
Depending on the technology, Dynatrace may not be the best possible solution. Yet for our use case, it has been well instrumented and provides a great deal of insight into our applications.

Dynatrace is being used by our whole organization in different capacities. It's being used primarily for operations and production management. We're looking to expand it into our development and QA environments and for pre-production workflows. Primarily we're addressing uptime, stability, and availability questions. One of Dynatrace's critical value propositions for us is end-to-end traceability. We are looking to use it to help understand customer experience and support business intelligence problems.
  • Automatic instrumentation
  • User enablement
  • Pricing
  • Mainframe WAS/Liberty
Dynatrace is good for production monitoring, performance testing, and capacity management. Dynatrace is not currently great at business analytics, mobile monitoring, mainframe, or development workflows.

Dynatrace is currently utilized within our Information Technology department as a monitoring and alerting tool. We are looking to expand the usage to QA & Deployment. We continue to expand our monitoring with cloud infrastructure, on-premises infrastructure, and legacy application additions. Going forward, we look to leverage the dashboard aspects to provide pro-active support.
  • Monitoring
  • Alerting
  • Bring service trace and pure paths to the forefront
  • Ingest on-premises logs from legacy hardware
Dynatrace is phenomenal for ingestion of cloud infrastructure and applications running native via containerization. Dynatrace functionality is limited as a monitoring tool for AIX/Power hardware. Dynatrace mobile application has too much noise for event alerting that is not at an outage/problem level.

Dynatrace is being used across our entire organization to help accelerate our deployments to modern technologies. It is essentially a springboard to help our company focus on what is needed in our org and take away the “busy work” of manning alerts and problem detection. The team dynamic has shifted to enabling developer to build better code faster and helping to push the product.
  • AI powers the product and makes the most sense in this space.
  • Full easy instrumentation.
  • Speed of return on investment is amazing.
  • Reporting for business users
  • Documentation on new features
  • Communication of new features
[For] Any could-based elastic environment it is essential. Running an multi hybid cloud enviornemnt is particularly daunting and this makes the movement much smoother and easier.

We do all of our development in house (Java on WebLogic/Tomcat) we use Dynatrace primarily to track and monitor user performance. We started as an Appmon and Synthetic Classic Customer back in the day and are now on the new Dynatrace platform. However, our primary use case hasn't changed. We are currently working on a massive rewrite and targeting microservices (Kubernetes/Docker) this was the primary driver for us switching from AppMon to New DynaTrace. The primary business issues it addresses for us are numerous. Being able to get insight into into important business transactions like claim processing and batch processing are vital to our business. The product is primarily used within our ISS organization however not all those users are technical.
  • Tracing user actions click by click
  • Monitoring and Alerting on critical Business Transactions
  • Tracing hotspots in database queries
  • I wish that the New Dynatrace had all the functionality of Legacy AppMon
  • I wish that the New Dynatrace had better documentation. AppMon seems to have much more flushed out info
  • I wish that it was easier to "clone" created environments. There are many things in Dynatrace that you get stuck creating multiple times.
Dynatrace is extremely useful as a triage and diagnostic tool. Especially if being used by technical people. It can do monitoring and alerting but the configuration of it still seems a bit convoluted to me. If your primary use is not technical you may run into issues. It is definitely a very robust platform and easy to get lost in.

Dynatrace is used for select applications in our company. We use it to troubleshoot apps and improve the performance of key apps. We also use synthetic monitoring to ensure reliable uptime and availability for our customers. We recently deployed real-user monitoring as well to track user activity. We have also integrated Dynatrace with Splunk and Service Now. We do get problem alerts from Dynatrace in Service Now
  • The backtrack feature is awesome.
  • The replay features to troubleshoot applications issues is incredible.
  • The Appdex index provides a health score for executives.
  • The ability to view error logs within Dynatrace is a very useful feature.
  • End-to-end transaction monitoring and code injection help troubleshoot a lot of issues.
  • Basic functions like extracting a list of deployed or discovered hosts are missing from the console.
  • Needs more interfaces, like Solarwinds etc. to be built-in with Dynatrace
The Dynatrace team is always improving the app and the support is great. However the mindset is for a smaller sized organization. Eg. Role-based access to administer different apps is missing from this tool. Dynatrace reports are virtually non-existent and it only provides dashboards. Not an ideal situation when leadership is actually seeking tangible reports to be delivered to our clients (government mandated application status and outage period requirements)

Dynatrace is being used across our IT department, primarily in the Digital and Payments areas of the bank. We use it to manage our operations, enhance the user experience, and provide insights to our business stakeholders beyond the traditional technology monitoring use-case.
  • Fantastic user and support community with a global reach makes it easy to connect with expert advice.
  • Problem Root Cause Analysis and Incident Recovery, as well as Technical Debt Reduciton, have improved considerably. This translates to a better customer experience.
  • Some functionality is still missing as the product is being developed. For example, LDAP integration for SSO/AD Authentication is still in the Early Access Programme.
  • The product requires Root Access which has required robust conversations with our Security/UNIX teams who had their concerns.
Dynatrace stands out in monitoring micro-services, quick root causes analysis, and its ease of use from an integration perspective with the likes of ServiceNow. Dynatrace requires low overhead in comparison to previous APM+ solutions which impacted system performance. Dynatrace provides great insights into the digital environment.

Dynatrace/Appmon was quickly adopted across the entire organization. It’s nice to see the help desk using Dynatrace when clients call in to quickly diagnose and answer problems. It has really cut down on the time to answer and assist clients with their issues. Session replay is going play a huge role in our support teams.
  • We are easily able to detect memory issues and quickly pin point where they are coming from and most of the time, narrow it down to a specific user and their actions. With this ability, we can call clients and tell them exactly what they are doing and how it is affected the systems.
  • The ability to trace slow SQL statements is huge. Having insight to the database and knowing exactly where are slowness issues are occurring is 90% of the battle.
  • Detecting threading issues easily and connection pool issues has become very convenient before applications move to prod. We can easily see if there’s an issue before moving code, eliminating down time for our users.
  • Dynatrace could work on its naming convention for Appmon and Dynatrace users.
  • The web client could be more robust and have the ability to dive deeper into issues.
If you have a web app, you need Dynatrace. I can quickly and easily detect issues within an application making for a better user experience.

We currently use Dynatrace to monitor our applications. We plan to use it to not only monitor our applications but to also monitor our server environment, Docker and F5.
  • Server monitor
  • Application monitor
  • Upgrades
  • Main screen - update the grey to black
  • Allow trusted Certs to be put directly into CACERTS file.
Monitoring servers and applications from start to finish. I do like their ability to capture and record web clicks so you can see exactly what a client/customer is doing on your website so you can figure out what went wrong or how to improve the site. Love the fact that you can view a vCenter environment to see what is going on and like the emails I receive when something goes wrong.

We as a consulting and service company, recommend Dynatrace to our customers to address their existing issues related to application monitoring.
  • Dynatrace does quite well in synthetic transaction monitoring and end user monitoring.
  • The DCRUM which does the real user monitoring is a key strength for clients that have some custom and COTS applications which are not written in Java or .Net.
  • Mostly our clients look for end to end application monitoring that ties up with existing infrastructure monitoring tools as well. Dynatrace has good capability in integration with other monitoring tools and ITSM.
  • For SAP and Skype monitoring, it can be improved. I agree any tools cannot provide [more] in-depth monitoring than the proprietary tools but still it can be improved.
  • Log collection and analytics engine can be developed to put as a single stop monitoring solution
It is well suited for companies that only do infrastructure monitoring and are struggling to move to the next level of application monitoring. Also, customers who have less capable APM tools can switch to Dynatrace to have better APM end to end monitoring.

Dynatrace is being deployed on on-premises applications and is used for application performance and health monitoring. It is used to solve our objectives by helping monitoring applications' health and performance so we can focus on delivering greater business value. We also use Dynatrace to generate alerts and distribute reports to various users.
  • Product offerings
  • Customer support
  • Performance metrics of web requests containing dynamic query parameters
  • Would like to have awareness sessions at partner office locations
As per my knowledge of using Dynatrace, it is well suited for any type of application with multi-tier distributed applications. Dynatrace is also well suited for public clouds such as AWS, Azure, and GCP. Dynatrace works well with AWS cloudWatch, Azure monitoring API, so there is no need for OneAgent install on individual instances, especially since most of the hosts in these cloud environments are not static. Dynatrace also works well with Kubernetes so it can help with private cloud deployment such as OpenShift, etc.

We use Dynatrace across the organization to help us find the root cause of issues in a more timely manner. Additionally, we use it to improve the customer experience of our external applications.
  • Root cause analysis is heads and shoulders above the competition. I don't have to spend the time sifting through the data to understand what metrics deviate from the norm.
  • Impact analysis is superb, showing us the actual users that were impacted by an issue.
  • Cost
  • Ease of use. The tool generally does a great job, but can be difficult to find where we need to do some fine tuning where things don't work as expected. Example--problems where we think separate problems should be joined into one problem.
Well suited for a variety of applications like our internal apps, customer-facing apps, and cloud apps. It pulls everything together that I need to monitor my applications: Real User Monitoring, synthetics, session replay, infrastructure monitoring. I can follow everything from web page to database calls.
The tool quickly identifies issues and creates alerts with all the relevant information to help me resolve the problem.

We currently use Dynatrace as a proactive monitoring and analysis tool. Dynatrace has allowed us to quickly identify potential trouble spots and act quickly to eliminate or mitigate impact to the business.
  • Provides an "at-a-glance" view of my application performance.
  • Provides the ability to drill down into specific areas of concern while the event is occurring as well as before and after.
  • Dynatrace could use a bit of housekeeping in categorizing actions. For instance, I would like the ability to tailor my view based on my area of interest, i.e., performance, root cause analysis, etc.
  • Dynatrace can sometime be overwhelming in the amount of information presented. More intuitive filters would go a long way here.
Dynatrace is well suited to a number of tasks. It is important to determine who the end users are and gather good information to tailor their experience accordingly.

For instance, business/marketing should not have access to some of the more technical data, and business metrics can be a distraction for IT operations personnel.

With Dynatrace, we have fewer headaches with troubleshooting most of the root causes of our problems. With session replay, we can see exactly where the end-user has failed. It is a good product for reporting as well with the dynamic dashboards. The pure path technology is very useful in troubleshooting as well.
  • Diagnosing root causes.
  • Dashboard reporting.
  • Notifications by email.
Dynatrace is well suited for troubleshooting with session replay when the end-user has some failed transactions. We had some issues with the consumption of CPU usage. With the host dashboard and transaction flow, it is easy to figure out where the root cause is located. The Database dash is very useful as well, and we can figure out why a transaction is slow thanks to it.

After dealing with many of the big vendors on the market that have failed to innovate for many years, we set out on a quest to select the next generation monitoring tool for our company. When it was decided that we wanted to focus on AI and decided to kick the tires on Dynatrace, the choice became obvious. We needed to do more with less and the AI allowed us to start focusing on root causes and potential problems proactively rather than being reactive. We also found that we have been able to deploy our Dynatrace footprint within our environment faster than with any other vendor before them providing an ease of use and administrator.
  • The OneAgent - Select an OS and that's it! Dynatrace does the rest.
  • AI - The Dynatrace AI is not just AI hype. It has actually proven itself over and over again within our company.
  • There is a need for better controls over how the licensing pool is divided up within a company.
  • Better reporting on who is using what in terms of the licensing pool.
Honestly, we have found a use case for Dynatrace in just about every area of focus for our company. This includes everything from infrastructure, to user experience, to network. The only area we have found where Dynatrace can be used, but as more of a compliment to another tool would be Google Cloud Platform (GCP). GCP offers Stackdriver and provides some things that Dynatrace can not get.
