Used as part of professional services offering for our clients. Additionally, we are currently integrating the application into our product set.
  • OneAgent - significantly simplifying deployment
  • Topology auto-discovery - defining the estate through automation
  • Customer growth - sold through seeing, not believing
  • Access to training (albeit improvements coming soon)
  • A lesser point, but product naming - generational shift could be more clearly demarcated
Rapid set-up for a base of non-negligible monitoring.

It’s used in the IT department to locate our own software problems.
  • The complete monitorization of all the transactions in a monitored system
  • The real confidence of the data captured
  • We cannot draw a branching map with our private IPs
It is a dynamic and complete solution to monitor your own software.

We are using Dynatrace as a monitoring tool for IT purposes, as an internal application.
  • Gives us a perfect view of our application maps
  • Help to solve little problems that affect users
  • Make a geographical map of our branches with internal IP.
Used to solve application problems and know what is happening.

It is being used by our customers to monitor their e-commerce platforms and applications.
  • Finding the root cause on every level of the stack. Developers can pinpoint the causes and provide solutions or development areas.
  • Monthly reports would be a great addition. Now we need to hand build the reports from weekly reports. Most of the customers want to have monthly reviews.
Well suited when there is a customer with a solution that has issues and they would like to start monitoring. With Dynatrace SaaS is very easy to start monitoring fast with the 2-weeks trial... usually helps a lot with after sales.

Dynatrace is used across Devs and Ops. Managed by Ops and used by Devs in particular. We try to address debugging issues and performance as well.
  • Dashboards
  • Monitoring
  • Deep dive debugging
  • Pure paths
  • JVM properties
  • Low memory usage
It is well suited for on-premise infrastructure. Need more features for the cloud.

Dynatrace is being used across the entire organization to manage performance throughout the entire product lifecycle, from development to production. It helps improve the performance of the website and helps monitor it during critical events.
  • Quickly and easily provides detailed information on the root cause of performance issues
  • Allows monitoring of entire application stack
  • Provides detailed information about user experience and behaviors
  • Can be overwhelming to first use
  • Provides so much information, it can be easy to get lost in all of it
  • You still need to fully integrate the old functionality of appmon into new UI
Great anytime/anywhere there is a need to manage customer experience in a business critical web site. It provides the information need for developer and operations to manage the code and applications. It also provides the high-level information needed to manage the business.

We are using the app [monitoring] solution to monitor our shop floor system landscape. This is Java-based and is used for problem analysis and use case monitoring.
  • Trace analysis
  • Use case tracking
  • Multiple drill down options
  • Cumbersome interface
  • Difficult to map use cases with user activity
  • Manual configuration settings
  • Impact on runtime environment when installing
  • Well suited for user experience measurement and root cause analysis.
  • Less for local and offline client system monitoring.

We use it as a whole-stack monitoring tool for our eCommerce application
  • Sifts out false-positives that we don’t need to worry about
  • Gets to the root of any issues very quickly
  • Provides focused paths to resolution
  • I wonder if I’m getting the best from it
  • Some of the pure paths can look different to my mental image of the architecture
  • It is great for providing focused feedback on a complex multi-tier architecture.
  • Provides good levels of analytics for different areas of expertise.
  • Has excellent “c-suite” eye candy.

Dynatrace APM is used across the organisation, mainly by application support teams and developers to monitor application performance for in house developed applications.
  • Dynatrace APM gives a complete view of the user journey from when they connect to our web application to when they leave.
  • Dynatrace APM enables application teams to troubleshoot performance issues through the use of Dynatrace’s purepath technology.
  • Dynatrace APM's ease of dashboard creations enables users to quickly provide pertinent data for both operational and management reporting.
  • Deployment of Dyntrace APM is cumbersome and takes too long.
  • Sometimes it is difficult to understand the data being presented and trying to find the root cause of issues.
  • The plugin architecture is not very flexible and difficult to add customised monitoring via the plugin API.
Dyntrace APM is well suited for monitoring performance for web based applications. It is not suitable for any infrastructure based monitoring, though there is some capability but it is limited.

Absolutely 100% OOTB

Score 10 out of 10

The Synthetic Monitor is part of our Dynatrace installation and is used by the ICT and security areas. Directs the need to detect end-user response time. The great thing about the solution is that most of the reports or views are done by the OOTB product. Integrates seamlessly with the other tools of the Dynatrace suite.
  • Completely autonomous in the data import and OOTB construction
  • Breakdown dashboard of automated application times
  • Detailed reporting of the user response time
  • Poor and sometimes insufficient documentation
  • Very rigid and expensive architecture for scalability
  • Cost of licenses
It adapts very well and automatically to essentially departmental applications, but with some difficulties in 'unpacking' with applications residing on the legacy host mainframe. Manages to build 90% of the reporting and dashboards completely automatically. Analyzes network traffic with a connector that recognizes, hops and correlates response times. It is very reliable.

We use Dynatrace across all of our offices across North America to trouble shoot end user issues with applications.
  • Dynatrace saves a lot of time in determining what is the likely cause of an issue a end user maybe experiencing.
  • We had users in a remote office that were complaining of application latency and we were able to determine the problem stemmed from a router configuration with the help of dynatrace.
  • There are so many options that are nested. If there is a way to make the user interface a little more intuitive, that would be great.,
Dynatrace is extremely well suited for an application that is run in both local and remote offices that query a database. The data it collects is in real time and can be compared to historical data.
