It's currently being used across multiple applications and infrastructure levels across the company. Dynatrace is used to address utilization issues, network issues, and traffic issues. Dashboards, alerting and reports help the users to form a perspective on various business cases, get into the hotspots, service flow and purepath and discover the root cause of the problem being reported.
  • Technical customer chat service
  • Great segregation of host, process groups and services
Cons
  • Dashboards
  • Reporting
Dynatrace is good for discovering infrastructure related issues and application traffic related issues, but cannot be used for synthetic monitoring, customized dashboards and customized reports.

We use Dynatrace to speed detection of problems and resolution in addition to explore key user metrics and information in an easily digestible format
  • Always delivering new features based on customer requests
  • Anomaly detection “out of the box” so you know when parts of an application become slow or unavailible
  • Rich support for plugin and API integrations for flexibility
Cons
  • Ability to use the deep inspection of .NET and java objects to do counts and transaction tracking across application layers
Because Dynatrace as a company shows true customer focus and is continually and rapidly delivering new features based on customer request

Used across the organization. It helps us to identify business metrics that provide insight into the overall health of the business on real-time and root cause analysis when problems are detected.
  • Root cause analysis
  • Auto-discovery of system and processes
  • Consolidation of performance information
Cons
  • Migration from AppMon (previous version of the product) to the newer version (Dynatrace)
It is best suited for simplifying the deployment of the monitoring agents of the tool and for root cause analysis.

We use Dynatrace for application performance monitoring throughout our IT organization and are even expanding into our stores. It gives insight into architecture and end to end flow of business operations. It baselines what normal is and alerts us when we deviate from that. It allows us to get a high level picture of where problems are occurring and drill down into pure paths to find the root cause.
  • APM
  • Alerting
Cons
  • Custom Metrics
  • API
Dynatrace is great for getting users a wealth of knowledge on areas that need to be monitored. It is great for giving comprehensive application performance management data. It would be less appropriate in areas where you just need a simple up down check. Because of the plan to charge for custom metrics, it is not as well suited to use it for that.

Currently, we are using Dynatrace to monitor some of our critical applications. As a lead developer, I greatly appreciate the way Dynatrace captures and aggregates the health and usage metrics for the apps. In just the past five months, Dynatrace has helped us identify several application bottlenecks and components that required refactoring.
  • Robust dashboard capabilities
  • Providing insight into user experiences
  • Analyzing performance between various time periods to help find releases related to performance degradation.
Cons
  • Support of all SaaS functionality in Dynatrace Managed, where there are currently gaps
  • Reporting seems very limited at this time
  • Support for additional granularity when sharing dashboards
  • The ability to export and import dashboards (or other equivalent backup/restore options)
Dynatrace is a wonderful tool when you are trying to find and resolve application health issues. The GUI and intuitiveness provides a wonderful experience for those used to digging through raw telemetry or memory dumps to find application issues.
