Dynatrace Delivers

Dynatrace provides the best insights into our environment from end to end. It provides user sessions throughout the application so, we can see exactly what users are doing and potentially not only fix problems but provide improvements before any issues arise. There is no simpler product to deploy and get so much information from than Dynatrace.

Nagios still is used today as our main alerting tool. It does repeat static checks well, but Dynatrace blows it out of the water when it comes to connecting all the app dependencies together. Also, Davis makes MTTR and root cause analysis simple compared to Nagios.

When it came down to ease of implementation and ease of use, Dynatrace was the clear winner. Working with the sales team was easy as well. Of course, they could not give the tool away, but I felt like they worked as well as they could with us to get us a price we could live with.

The others don't have the tools that Dynatrace has, nor the AI features. They couldn't compare to Dynatrace when it came to troubleshooting options or log analytics. They also didn't have the same level of vendor support as Dynatrace has given us. Dynatrace is the future, and I look forward to working with them more.

Datadog is a good system but does lack a lot of features provided by Dynatrace, and more importantly, it does not have the support Dynatrace provides. Many other systems, Zabbix, Nagio, AppDynamics also exist, but so far, Dynatrace really shines above them all.

Great product, but pricey

Dynatrace was the easiest to use. AppDynamics was a close second. The Dynatrace AI agent was extremely impressive. Others are working on it but don't seem to be there yet. The Dynatrace roadmap and vision (coupled with execution to this point) matched where we were going the best with cloud and kubernetes playing the most key roles. New Relic required far too much code instrumentation and changes to get the detail we got out-of-the-box with both AppDynamics and Dynatrace. New Relic and AppDynamics were both more competitively priced though--Dynatrace is pricey.

These technologies seem to be primarily reactive. Kaseya alerting is particularly difficult to set up and can create very chatty alerts with too much information. These products do not recognize relationships between applications. The ability to integrate log monitoring into Dynatrace's event correlation makes this product superior to the problem analysis offered by these other products.

Before, when using APM in New Relic and SolarWinds for infrastructure, it was always difficult to pinpoint where issues came from. Now, the conversation starts out with people from those 2 groups talking on the same page with the same data, thanks to Dynatrace.
