Dynatrace is well suited for visibility by environment for production and release confidence. It's well suited also for war room triage and deep diving for issue remediation. It has deep application monitoring and multi-level capabilities, so it's great to see how deep the app reaches. It's not well suited for simple single-layer/page apps.

Dynatrace is well suited for allowing a big picture view to determine root-cause analysis. It is not so good if a developer would like to analyze their code for improvements or slowdowns that happen at various places in the stack, which may be unrelated to an issue.

Dynatrace's ability to perform real user monitoring and session replays is extremely useful. The ability to do location-based performance analysis is also useful. The ability to do error detection and pure path analysis with Dynatrace helps identify exact areas of concerns.

Today, applications are so complex and resource-intensive that we always get into debates over infrastructure issues vs. Application code issues. Dynatrace helps us find the bottlenecks and focus on fixing the issues the right way.

Dynatrace is less appropriate on the server side than SolarWinds.

Dynatrace is great if you have custom-written applications that you are running in the cloud or on-premises. It helps provide insight into your applications, how they are used, and what your customers are experiencing. For monitoring externally, the service works well to help you see what your customers are seeing.

We found that for cloud environments with micro services and container based deployments, Dynatrace shines as it provides details for both infrastructure and applications. Most tools just do one. Dynatrace is not very helpful on databases. We have not used it on mainframes, as there are existing tools that work well.

Dynatrace is very well positioned as a the choice APM at most any web firm on the internet that has SLAs and is customer-focused. A little more UI polish would be a nice addition, more simplified and inline with their competitors - alas, Dynatrace is in its own league in the APM space.

The solutions help us a lot in various scenarios. It's easy to implement and use. It took half a day to start to verify some bottlenecks in our environment and direct the team toward actions that will really impact positively our business. We could identify the user that should be impacted by the performance of our platform, and with the UX, we could verify the real reason for the experience and what we are looking for.

If you have multiple technologies running on different platforms doing automatic load balancing and resource management it is really helpful to give you a good insight in the current state of your IT infrastructure. Also integrating with other tools like ServiceNow or implementing keptn is a really helpful way to get up to speed and really help your IT department.

Dynatrace is very effective in root cause analysis. You will be able to identify the root cause of the issue more quickly and efficiently. This tool also will give you better ability to take proactive measures. The end to end monitoring capability of Dynatrace is really amazing. The future plan of Dynatrace is also promising. It is well-suited with new technologies.

Great for monitoring customer-facing apps, like a website, and for correlating events - it's easy to integrate into Service Now for a single pane of glass. Dashboarding needs to be more robust as many departments want to see how their systems are doing at a glance. API is great which makes this a true platform for integration.

Well suited for web applications. With these, you get code insights and performance counters from within the applications. Real user monitoring helps a lot in solving user errors on the website and probably helps us improve application usability

Less appropriate for monitoring old applications developed in C++. This is a black box for Dynatrace, and you can only see some basic counters as CPU, memory, disk, and network.

Dynatrace is ideal for any environment with a higher level of complexity. Different hardware, software packages, and business functions typically mean lots of different software packages for management. Out of the box, Dynatrace can help with all of them. I can't really think of any environment that it wouldn't be helpful in.

We struggled with multiple tools to be used for monitoring the IT health. One of the key reasons for choosing Dynatrace is to have one tool which monitors Infrastructure, Cloud and applications, since we need all these elements monitored so that it can relate an incident where the issue is lying. This is why we chose Dynatrace.

Dynatrace OneAgent is well suited in almost all scenarios where application monitoring as well as infrastructure monitoring need to be implemented. It may not be appropriate if it is a very small application or small scale infrastructure to install Dynatrace OneAgent and setup all monitoring which may not be used.
