JobBOSS² runs on the cloud, and this makes it easy for our staff to use. We use JobBOSS² as our ERP system. This allows us to plan and control the flow of the product being manufactured. Scheduling is used to assist with the tight schedules and outside processors we work with within our industry.
  • Scheduling of jobs based on many different options
  • Easy Maintenance, no upgrades
  • Quoting is done well
  • Orders are processed in a timely manner
  • Inventory management
  • Provide Support with more than an email contact or call back abilities, phone extensions to get direct to the support person assisting.
  • Require support to follow up even when a call has run over on time - let the closed call be decided by the customer.
  • Data Collection could use an easier way for the operator to access the documents, for example, setup or inspection paperwork
Production manufacturing and machining would be strong points. JobBOSS² has some options to grow into other ECI products or 3rd party vendors. These offer options for inspection, quoting, accounting, and scaling the business to many locations. A good example for a small business owner could use Intuit Quickbooks and move into JobBOSS² accounting as the business grows.

We use JobBOSS² to manage our work, finances, and scheduling. This package takes you from an estimate through to an end-of-year financial review. You can track virtually everything you could want. It comes out of the box with most reports and functions you could want and is easy to learn for someone computer savvy. If you struggle with technology, you can still use it just fine; it might take a little more time to get up to speed. We were not really digital before this, which has allowed us to get a much better grasp on our business without needing to create elaborate spreadsheets to look at data. We are only in our first year, but it already saves time for us from quoting to managing work. The team that sells JobBOSS² is well-informed and honest. I think most shops could have the basics down within a few months and within a year be fully utilizing the software, but to truly get all the benefits, I think it will take a few years to get everything exactly how we want it. Overall, couldn't be happier with JobBOSS² and their staff.
  • Estimating is great once you learn how to use it, and it makes repeat estimates easier than ever.
  • Time tracking is amazing for us. It has taken some time to figure out exactly how we want to use the tracking parts, but it's only because it has multiple ways to do the same thing and finding out what works best for us took some time.
  • Billing and Purchasing are a breeze. The full package is worth the money to fully integrate the entire business into JobBOSS² since it can handle it all.
  • Automated reporting would be great. We can build custom reports, but have to do automated tasks entirely different and having the option to send multiple reports on schedule would be great.
  • Custom reports and automated tasks through knowledge sync are incredibly complex to setup. I am very computer savvy with sql database experience and the way that all works is highly convoluted whether by design or necessity that is my biggest gripe.
  • More customization options to better have this fit our business instead of generically a manufacturing business. For example, if I have a customer that wants price breakouts on individual parts, but wants them as part of a lump order, I cannot lump two estimates together and remove setup, I have re-create multiple estimates. Or, more specifications for time/labor, like weekends are always OT, not the 2 option only system it is now. I have a ton of ideas but they may be more specific to our shop, like selling sheets by the square foot, while also allowing me to set a markup rate rather than a sell rate. I hate the sell rate system, everything is markup based and having it designed for sell price rather than markup on cost seems backwards. Shops that use this are not retailers so prices fluctuate and having to work around everything using sell price is a pain.
  • Allowing us to track gross profit rather than net profit would be great. I like seeing net profit, but the system of burden rate, avg labor rate, billing rate, etc etc is just another weird system making it hard. I assume this is because this is built for machine shops that run a machine at a price but even that seems weird because I enter a work center to run a part at xx price per hour and the ticket is created but needs to be scanned to track it's work, but a guy has to monitor it to ensure the ticket doesn't stay scanned too long even if the machine stops. It would be nice if I could make the software just calculate the cost regardless of whether someone scans the "cut" task for a cnc machine.
Overall I feel like JobBOSS² is well suited to most any job shop of any kind, but it seems like someone decided it should be somewhat tailored to repeat manufacturing and completely unfriendly to one-off work. We mostly do one-off work and it's much better than using paper like we were but it seems like the world of one off work is not a big concern, as well as reporting being very unfriendly. When we ask how do we get gross profit to show up, it's like I'm asking a foreign language question and told I have to pay for custom reporting to be done and it will take a while. I just want it to NOT calculate burden and a bunch of other stuff automatically. It would be great if I didn't have to link databases together to get a quoted price included on a report. I'd love to see the ability to have all data fields available on all reports and you just choose them, and not use a 3rd party system for creating those reports. It's probably a huge task and not worth it if most people don't want it but the one thing I feel like I was misled on was the level of reporting and ease of getting the reports I want.

We currently operating all manufacturing operations out of JobBOSS². We use JobBOSS² for order entry and control, quality control, load leveling, and employee management. Before we implemented it, we operated all off verbal communication and Excel spreadsheets. JobBOSS² has increased efficiencies and has made communication more clear. With the aid of JobBOSS² we are also able to give more accurate data back to our customers, Ex. Leadtime, on time percentages, etc.
  • Order Managment
  • Employee time Tracking
  • PO Generation
  • Invoice/Receiving
  • Accounting functions
  • Ordering on the time and attendance page
  • Quoting process
JobBOSS² has been a tremendous improvement from our Excel spreadsheets. It has been helpful with tracking material to specific jobs- The attachment tab is helpful. The interface between JobBOSS² and QB could be more user-friendly. Tracking employees is helpful. JobBoss is less appropriate for quoting. There are more variables to take into consideration than what is offered.

I implemented JobBOSS² on Jan 1, 2023, to replace proprietary software previously being used/ modified as needed. In addition to this software, Linmark utilized Excel spreadsheets and Quickbooks to manage jobs, accounting functions, and reporting. After the implementation, we used JobBOSS² and synced AR & AP to Quickbooks weekly. JobBOSS² has been a welcome change at Linmark, as we were given a magnitude of visibility that we would have never had otherwise. JobBOSS² brought into one cloud-based software all the functions we previously performed across multiple platforms.
  • Multitudes of Standard Reports
  • Ability to Almost Completely Customize Reports & Forms
  • Inclusive Software from Quoting through Manufacturing to Invoicing
  • Return and Rework Tracking
  • Ability to "click-through" from module to module is somewhat quirky and not always do-able
  • Implementation process and initial learning is very independent, more assistance and direction from ECI would be appreciated.
  • Ability to set Product Code at Order level instead of Estimate level would be quite helpful
  • Ability to add WorkCode at Line Item Specification screen would be very useful
  • Ability to enter material quantities at decimal amounts instead of whole numbers. This is a huge disadvantage of JobBOSS²
While JobBOSS² has some quirks and learning curves to get around initially, it has been a great resource for our company. The visibility of jobs on our manufacturing floor and their statuses has been the most helpful. For our office staff, having all functions from job entry to purchasing to invoicing in one software has been hugely time effective compared to our previous process of double and sometimes triple entering information across multiple software platforms. For our business, a precision job shop where every job is different, and we do not have many production-run type jobs, JobBoss2 is very well suited. It allows us to enter all details and routing requirements for each job/ part. The main scenario in our shop that we have JobBOSS² not well suited is raw material inventory handling due to the requirement of entering material in full number quantities only and no ability to enter any decimal quantities. This means that if you have 4-1/4" of a type of metal on your shelf, you would enter 4" and disregard the 1/4" - this becomes an issue when manufacturing a part that is 4", but you would need to have 4-1/4" or even just 4-1/8" of material for the CNC machine to chuck on-to (hold on-to). Now we see we only have 4" and believe we'll need to order material when we would not need to.

We use JobBOSS² as our primary ERP software. We like the project costing and purchasing functions as a way to keep accurate costs of the labor, parts and administrative paperwork needed for each project. We also use the quality documentation function to comply with our quality management system. We wished it did more from a CRM and profit margin calculation perspective. The reporting functionality is limited but good for what we need.
  • Good job costing
  • Timely Business reports
  • Accurate inventory
  • Better reports with deeper detail
  • CRM funtionality
  • Drawing upload functionality
The JobBOSS² ERP software offers robust functionality for streamlining business processes, managing finances, and tracking inventory. While it excels in data integration and user-friendly interfaces, occasional glitches and limited customization options prevent it from achieving greatness. Overall, it provides solid support for small or medium-sized enterprises but may lack scalability for larger organizations.

We use JobBOSS² in our machine shop for order in take planning, production scheduling, purchasing of raw materials and other supplies as well es employee time tracking. We also use the report functionally for tracking profitability per job, which also allows us to better quote based on historical values adjusted with updated labor and raw material cost.
  • Time tracking per job
  • Order in take management
  • Purchase handling of raw materials
  • In my opinion, Management and bait and switch on sales side
  • Not being clear about what you are buying
  • Selling consultant hours although not needed
We spent over spent by about $4000 for the upgrade from our old local hosted E2 shop software to the new cloud based JobBOSS². We were not informed that we are paying for a certain amount of consulting hours upfront ($4000) for our upgrade. We did not need those hours and, in my experience, when I asked to credit them.to.our account for billing they refused although this was never explained before hand. In my opinion, this is very much a bait and switch sales behavior. We are happy with the software but the sales team and their management is something else. Furthermore the consultant hours are expiring after 12 month which was also never discussed.

JobBoss2 is our currently ERP system with the Time & Attendance.
The ERP software is static and not robust enough to pivot with a dynamic business environment. Required modifications are considered customizations that you need to pay consulting.
The Time & Attendance cannot be directedly exported to another payroll provider like ADP, Paychex.
  • Real Time data
  • Email of Invoices and Purchase Orders.
  • Keeps Historical Data
  • Customized Reporting
  • Missing a description field for each Invoices and each Journal Entries
  • Material Requirement Report does not include the available stock on hand.
  • The decimal points rounding is not adjustable.
The cloud hosting is eliminates the need to maintain a local server but, it is limited in data analysis and as an Accounting and Finance tool.
The ability to see a specific description for an invoice and/or the specific description of a journal entry line item when you run a General Ledger Detail report.

Jobboss2 is our company's ERP platform. We use it to track customer orders, inventory, time tracking, outside service processing, and production routings. The problem it solves is the manual tracking of orders, inventory, and routings in Excel spreadsheets & on paper, which was a slow, cumbersome, repetitive, and often redundant task. Inventory was tracked in a spreadsheet previously, orders were tracked in their own individual spreadsheets, and job routings existed on pen & paper. We're now able to track all of our parts and routings in Jobboss, tweak them easily to launch new production runs, and capture inventory information. Instead of manually tracking time with a time clock or pen and paper, machinists are now able to scan a bar code and start recording their hours automatically for particular operations.
  • Inventory.
  • Job routings
  • Time tracking
  • quoting - limited functionality currently
  • costing of jobs and parts - there is very limited information on how their calculations work and limited customization of costing. Most of the job costing or margin reports are inaccurate. Costing is a black box with Jobboss2 that doesn't allow you to better understand how they are calculating nor the ability to tweak the variables of those calculations to align their reports and models with the way your organization costs and prices jobs.
  • Raw material inventory and resource tracking for jobs - we don't even use the raw material function because it's inflexible. When you quote raw material, oftentimes you ask for one size diameter of raw material...but the vendor may not have it and often the next best size instead. When/if this happens, you'd have to delete or re-add the raw material to jobboss2 and re-assign that size to every part that's used. You'd, in theory, have to have every possible size of raw material and every spec of raw material that you use in Jobboss2, and you'd still have to re-assign it all of the time to different parts when you couldn't find the ideal size of material. This is a huge gap.
  • Automatically logs you out while using the platform, even with only one tab open. We'll be actively using jobboss2, and even within a minute of login, you click on a module of jobboss2, and it will ask you to log in again. Very frustrating.
  • Inability to open multiple tabs in Jobboss2. We need to crossreference information all of the time, comparing inventory, last jobs routings & dates, and costs which we try to pull up multiple tabs in jobboss2, but it does not effectively allow you to do this. It's slightly possible, but oftentimes will log you out of your session as soon as you open a new tab.
  • Blanket orders and consignment - Jobboss2 is ineffective at allowing efficient tracking of blanket orders or parts on consignment. There's no functionality for consignment tracking of parts as you try to track replenishment buckets.
  • Customizable reports with more field and table selections - reports can be customized but only with the fields that Jobboss2 provides for that specific report. We need to link other tables from the database to be able to see the information that we need, and jobboss2 does not easily allow you to link a new table into reports to add additional fields that you want or need to see. For example, in Salesforce...you can pick specific tables that you want to link together and pull any field that you need. Jobboss2 only allows you to see the specific tables that they pre-built for reports. If you need another field that's missing on the report, you'd have to know SQL in order to add it vs. a user-friendly report builder that anyone non-technical would be able to use, which is standard in most other software platforms for ERP or CRM.
  • material/inventory forecasting to plan when you need the next job - this is incredibly limited. We typically look out for 2-12 months to plan when we'll need the next lot for a particular part. Jobboss2 material forecast will only let you look at the next 4 months as 4 columns and then it groups any months beyond that into one 5th column. You should be able to set a specific time horizon (i.e. from today to 12 months out and see the stock level and orders needed for each of those next 12 months. As a result, we still have to use manual spreadsheets to plan our production and scheduling jobs.
  • jobboss2 upcharges for most new features or modules that you want to add. For example, they've built reports that would be incredibly useful for the majority of their customers, but they charge to add one simple report because it's considered a customization.
Jobboss2 helps with creating routings, tracking hours towards those, and tracking inventory for discrete orders. It does not work well for blanket orders, consignment, or long-term agreements-type contracts with customers. Raw material tracking is completely ineffective with Jobboss2. Costing is quite ineffective with Joboss2. Production/lot planning & scheduling is ineffective and is a huge limiting factor. All of these items require manual tracking in spreadsheets. Jobboss2 has helped us get away from tracking routings with pen and paper and timesheets with pen and paper... but we're still having to use Excel to track consignment, blanket orders, job planning/when to launch new travelers, and costing/quoting. Going from pen and paper routings to digital has been a huge help overall, but the other limitations are incredibly concerning, which has led us to research & possibly switch ERP platforms.

We use JobBOSS2 in all areas of our business, from accounting to inventory management to shop floor control. We were looking for a better analysis of shop production and a system to help us streamline jobs and resources.
  • Great reports.
  • Training and tech support.
  • Job process is laid out in a logical, accountable way.
  • Report designer could be more user-friendly.
  • Better explanation of month-end journal entries that are needed for financial reports.
I think JobBOSS2 is well suited for any machine shop or manufacturing business.

We use JobBOSS² for everything at our organization, it's really helped us grow as a team. It's great for keeping track of all customer orders and all vendor purchase orders, whether they are open or closed. Using JobBOSS² makes everything easier to find in just a few clicks. I couldn't imagine working here without it.

JobBOSS² works great for large production orders, but it is not the greatest for one time orders. The estimating module is great and you can get super detailed in the BOM and routing steps, but if you're only going to make that order one time is it really worth all of the prep time? Now, it's very different for large production orders, because you want to be as detailed as possible and put as much time into the prep to avoid any issues in production.

We use JobBOSS² to help maintain organization, workflow, and job costing for our rapidly growing company. This year, we purchased a separate building to host our Machine Shop capabilities and needed software to provide a central hub for our production team, as we are now actively working out of two locations. Before JobBOSS², tracking inventory and material usage was all done with Excel spreadsheets kept in multiple locations. We also did not have a great way to track Job Costing or P&L reports. The Job Travelers give precise data for labor hours, and the platform makes pulling reports like a P&L or Actual vs Estimated Cost quick and easy! We are also an ISO-certified company and purchased the Quality add-on. It is so much easier having all of our information stored in one central location where all users can easily access it since this is a website-hosted software. We also use JobBOSS² for our purchasing needs, production, and shop floor control. Assigning exact material needed directly to jobs is a luxury we did not have prior. Ultimately, using JobBOSS² has not only given us better, more accurate, and easily accessible financial data but also helped us organize and simplify many of our purchasing and material processes.
  • Inventory Management
  • Job Costing/P&L Reports
  • Quality Control (NCRs & CA Tracking)
  • Estimating/Quoting
  • Data Collection
  • Editing forms or documents if needed is very difficult
  • Scheduling Whiteboard is not super user friendly and takes a lot of time to learn
  • Harder to setup for a Service Based Industry - But very possible
JobBOSS² is very well suited for Job Shops. If you are in a service-based industry, like myself, you will have to apply the training the best you can to suit your company. For example, estimates are saved as defined parts in JobBOSS², but as a service-based industry, we are not making parts; we receive customer parts and provide a service, then ship the same parts back to our customer. It was not a simple data conversion because our "item" list in QuickBooks was not typical for a manufacturing company producing a product. We have had to enter customer parts manually and what service we are providing on an individual basis since we did not have set "Part Numbers" to pull from our QuickBooks Items list. We also have a lot of Time and material jobs that we cannot save to the system and have to re-quote every time due to changes in how much material and labor will be needed.

We are a manufacturing company using JobBOSS² in all aspects of our workday. We use a majority of the features provided with the software throughout each day, and we also use it to Sync with our desktop version of QuickBooks for Accounting. We have found JobBOSS² to be very user-friendly, easy to learn, and to use. I use the Estimating, Customer Quotes, Orders, Shipments, Vendor RFQs, Vendor POs, Receiving, Inventory Items, Inventory Adjustments, Time & Attendance, and Inventory Transfer modules on a routine basis each week. I have found them all very easy to use and have had no issues with any part of it. I have also learned how to use the Report Designer function and have found it relatively easy to make my reports look how I want them to, instead of just the standard format.
  • Customer service and Technical Support respond quickly and work diligently to fix any issue I may run into so I can continue to work without any large delays.
  • I love how easy it is to open additional copies of JobBOSS² as I usually work in several places at once in the system and have anywhere from 3 to 5 open at a time.
  • All of the different areas of JobBOSS² that I use were incredibly easy to learn, and I love that everything you need to see or enter is on the same page without having to click on additional tabs to enter information.
I believe that JobBOSS² would be well suited for any small to medium-sized business for sure I am not sure about a larger-sized company as I only have experience with smaller to medium-sized companies. I believe that for those size companies in any industry, JobBOSS² would be a great asset for them.

We use JobBOSS² as an enterprise-wide ERP system. From Estimate to Invoice, the ERP system incorporates all aspects of work. Creating estimates that convert into orders/jobs and act as shop travelers is key to managing production. The interface is straightforward to learn at first. There are more sophisticated features that take longer to master. The ease of use is also a challenge - anyone can enter part numbers (that have access), and controlling key nomenclature is important to avoid redundant parts and dilute the value of the ERP control. The built-in features are best for managing job costing, creating job requirements and purchase orders, and invoicing jobs. We do not use any integrations with financial software (QuickBooks or other) and find the accounting system is sufficient for our use (with the help of an outsourced accounting firm).
  • Job Costing
  • Invoicing
  • Purchase order creation
  • CRM is bare bones and requires an external program to be more effective
  • Automatic Job Scheduling is hard to master - another program for project management is required
  • Internal communication is limited. We rely on other systems to support communication
From quoting job costing through an invoice, JobBOSS² performs well. Converting quotes to jobs is seamless (as long as the part was built correctly in the first place) and cuts down the time to issue orders to the shop floor. The system is flexible to handle the constantly changing demands of job shops, but it also has built-in features that allow orders to be issued from stock/inventory. The ERP tends to create challenges for large projects that require numerous assemblies and sub-assemblies - the program requires breaking up the parts to prevent system limitations.

JobBOSS² is our MRP/ERP system for our small manufacturing business. We use it to track all materials and jobs through our value stream. We also use it for all of AR/AP and bookkeeping.
  • Cloud based, very easy to login from anywhere
  • Tracking invoices and pulling reports for AR & AP works well.
  • Database of customers and vendors
  • Custom Development team provides quotes in a reasonable timeframe
  • Custom reports - support for this should be included, and not an added cost.
  • Margin Summary cost data is broken, duplicating costs. Cannot be used for analysis.
  • Scheduling module is difficult to use, difficult to adjust for changing team size and capacities.
  • Subassembly jobs show $0 Job Value; this creates a mess when trying to gauge the $/hr profitability of individual job numbers. Because all of the profit is in the parent assembly, most of the hours are stuck with the child jobs showing $0 in sales value.
  • My customer service rep cannot answer any technical questions, I'm referred to a support queue.
  • Support reps are quick to call an issue DONE and close out my ticket, without verifying that my problem has been addressed.
  • I cannot look at my sales backlog and show how many dollars from jobs are scheduled due for this week, next week, the week after, etc.
JobBOSS² works great for scheduling material requirements and driving purchasing. Setting up dashboards is fairly easy, as long as the data already exists in the system. Running admin AR/AP in JobBOSS works well. Accepting payments with NET1 in JobBOSS² works well. I want to drive my business with throughput accounting KPIs, but I cannot get these from JobBOSS² as it is not set up for this.

Before I go into this, I want to point out that I've worked with some of the smartest and most patient technicians who represent JobBOSS². BUT. Here's where I'm having problems 1) Job Costing - We have the manual scanner in place yet are unable to run any reports that tell me how much time we are spending and, moreover, HOW MUCH MONEY!!! We've had a consultant out here, but she pushed the scheduling module - We are a job shop - We cannot use said module.
  • Quotes
  • Job Costing (Without the purchase of scheduling)
  • Reporting!! PLEASE!!!
  • API Integrations - If your system cannot do it - Let us see if we can find one that can!
  • Put URL's for email addresses, and User Fields (Custom)
  • Ability to put notes as CRM systems do
I give JobBOSS² a 3 out of 10, the design of the system looks like an old AS400 Point and Click Technology.

JobBOSS² is our ERP that we use to run our business. It has all the features that you would need to run a manufacturing business but it has some areas of weakness. We use the software to quote, process orders, and manage our outside processes. We do not use the scheduling module as it does not meet our needs.
  • Job Travelers
  • Purchase Orders
  • Manufacturing routing
  • Scheduling
  • Reporting
  • Customization to your business
JobBOSS² is suited best for smaller operations, simple parts, and few moving pieces.

We are currently in the process of implementing the JobBOSS² application. We upgraded the software as a continuation of utilizing the program, but we needed to implement the program as an implementation, so the current process of implementation has been delegated to our sister company in Canada, and now I do not know when we will go live. From what I have worked on and with, this program will assist our organization with all aspects of our daily work, from accounting to inventory management. I cannot wait to see it implemented completely.
  • Tracking inventory
  • Header and footer customization
  • Accounting
  • Accounting details
  • Time clock tracking
JobBOSS² is great for manufacturing companies. We can move from quotes to invoicing fairly easily and quickly.

I use JobBOSS² to manage my company's Accounting, Purchasing, and HR departments. The product helps our company place orders for raw materials, enter and pay invoices to suppliers, and receive payments from customers.
  • Quality (vendor and customer returns)
  • Automatic customer AR billing
  • Automatic vendor AP payments
  • Ability to create custom fields
  • Customizable reporting
There are many times when we'd like to capture data in fields/records and cannot do this in JobBOSS². We also are handcuffed in having to pay custom report fees, so I wish there were more user-friendly ways for the average user to create custom screens and reports.

JobBOSS² makes it easier to track our expenses related to jobs and customers. It helps us track our usage per job and the ease of keeping track of inventory.
  • Tracking of inventory
  • Tracking of cost per job
  • Invoicing customers
  • Ease of tracking employee time
  • Ease of tracking time per job
  • Ease of tracking job from beginning to end
  • We would like to be able to add a skid count to our BOL
  • I would like to be able to see OPEN accounts payable without having to close the month.
I enjoy that I can look up any job by the customer, job number, or other methods on JobBOSS².

I am responsible for invoicing customers and entering invoices from vendors using JobBOSS². I also track vendor payments and write out checks. I am responsible for uploading material certifications into the repository as well. I generally handle all accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll tasks.
  • Tracking time on jobs/machines
  • Billing is fairly easy to send out
  • Financial reports are hard to export to a user friendly version
  • Multiple reports are needed to be ran to get comparison data
For estimating and job tracking, JobBOSS² does quite well. However, on the financial/accounting side of things, there is a lot to be desired.

We utilize JobBOSS² to track customer orders, purchase orders, and inventory. It allows us to monitor the activity and maintain data records of the activity.
  • Easily "inquire" on parts, vendors or customers
  • Able to trace activity via audit trail
  • Can import BOMs
  • It is clunky in going from "TAB" to key board on data entry screens
  • Processing returns is a lengthy process & too many steps
  • Processing orders for stock is a bit cumbersome
  • Check processing with discounts is not the easiest
  • Production scheduling is challenging
Distributors would do well with JobBOSS² process mfg where there are not a lot of different SKUs.

We use E2 Shop System across the whole organization, starting with entering the orders when they first arrive to creating packing slips when the order gets shipped out. With the help of order summaries, such as backlog and shipment summaries, it is very easy to keep track of orders and shipments. It also provides purchase order summaries, which helps us identify which vendor we're sending our parts to more and their dollar value as well. Also, with the help of dashboard, it's easy to see monthly/yearly goals and sales, as well as backlog analysis in a pie chart form. E2 Shop System helps us with production schedules and keeping a smooth schedule running the shop floor.
  • Backlog, order, and shipment summary
  • Production schedule
  • Cost analysis
  • Keep track of inventory
  • Keep track of material orders
  • Keep track of tooling maintenance
  • Helps create corrective/preventive actions (NCR, scraps)
  • Production schedule
E2 Shop System is great for backlog and shipment summaries, which our organization uses it for every single day. We also use E2 Shop System to enter new jobs and to keep track of them until they gets shipped. E2 Shop System is also very good at keeping track of partial shipments; it has the option to make partial packing slips so that we make them for exact amount of parts we shipping. E2 Shop System also helps us to create a router, which goes on the shop floor with each individual job that shows all that needs to be done with for that particular job.

There is an improvement required when it comes to the production schedule. It does the job for now but it doesn't notify when we are running late on jobs--it needs to be done manually currently.

We initially tried to use E2 Shop System for shop floor management and inventory management but due to their lack of support, we've had to abandon the software.
  • Bill of materials
  • Subassemblies
  • Inventory management
  • Support what's purchased, after our purchase was made, I never heard from them again.
  • To reiterate I believe the software is excellent but if you have any support issues, you're done.
E2 Shop System will not work if unless you have an experienced IT senior staff person. If you were going to count on them for customer support, you will not get any.

We utilize E2 for all aspects of our Sheet Metal Fabrication, from purchasing to scheduling. E2 has many different modules that we use. They are:

Purchasing
Inventory
Order Entry
Job Travelers
Returns/Non-conformances

These modules have helped us significantly in tracking jobs throughout the process as well as compliance with our ISO standards.
  • E2 is very user friendly. Once configured, users can start using without a long training time. We implemented in stages so they would not get overwhelmed.
  • E2 has a ton of reports available. We print time tracking on a daily basis to review hours and steps during manufacturing.
  • E2 allows you to customize reports using Crystal Reports to allow you to get the information you need out of the reports.
  • Annual maintenance costs for updates and support is rather costly.
  • You must really think about how you will use E2 so when you implement the software it is right the first time.
E2 is great at getting you information via reports and you can drill down to specific details. This has helped us calculate hours, costs and track non-conformances to allow for improvements.

The scheduling module is complicated and Shoptech does not offer much in the way of virtual training on implementation. We are paying for onsite training and implementation. All other aspects are pretty straight forward.
