A great expense report & reimbursement tool.

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

My organization used Tallie for spending & expense management, specifically corporate credit cards and employee reimbursements. Tallie is excellent if you don't need travel management, have an existing corporate credit card, or want the option to choose.

Pros

  • Corporate Credit Cards.
  • Employee reimbursement.
  • Low cost.
  • Scalable
  • Sage Intacct integration.

Cons

  • Purchase order matching.
  • Ecosystem approach - Emburse has multiple products, meaning multiple apps, but you're only paying for what you need.
  • AP automation - see other Emburse apps.
  • Emburse product catalogue is confusing with a lot of similar apps.

Likelihood to Recommend

Organizations that don't travel a lot and have an existing credit card program or want the ability to choose. Tallie does expense reports and reimbursements well without requiring you to pay for features and modules you don't need. Also, the fee structure is based on active users in the month, so if you have a lot of staff or volunteers, you can add them to the system without paying for them to be in the system, and then your cost is only active users, not total users or per expense report.

In my opinion, Avoid Doing Expense Reports on Emburse Tallie

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I have used Emburse Tallie for a couple of years and dread using it each month. I miss the software that our company used to use and even miss old Excel expense reports compared to Emburse Tallie.

In my experience, it is next to impossible to upload new cards to port expenses over to Emburse Tallie.

I don't like giving poor reviews unless they are deserved and I think this one is deserved.

Pros

  • Imports from cell phone app
  • In my experience, Frustrating users

Cons

  • In my experience, Importing new credit cards is incredibly hard
  • In my experience, Getting real time help
  • In my experience, Importing expenses and routing them to the correct report

Likelihood to Recommend

In my experience, taking pictures of receipts via cell phone are fairly easy to do and Emburse Tallie scans and tries to categtorize them.

Tallie Ho! It's a software review

Rating: 7 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Primarily used for corporate credit card reporting and receipts management. Links to bill.com for export to accounting and payment of personal expenses.

Pros

  • Easy end user experience
  • Imports from bank credit card system
  • Analytics reporting helps stay on top of users

Cons

  • Search functions need much improvement; i.e. vendor search for transactions.
  • Impossible to import transactions for dates prior to card being added to system. There's no going back.
  • Needs better recognition of expense categories. Sees airlines and Chick-Fil-A as Dues and Subscriptions (?)

Likelihood to Recommend

Works fine for expense management with link to another system for payment. Doesn't function like Concur where it's all self-contained, but also doesn't cost nearly as much to implement or maintain. Imports work well as long as everything has been set up properly ahead of time. It is particularly ill-suited for searching for vendor detail, etc. For example, I can't search for how much I've spent with Southwest Airlines.

Mileage reporting made easy!!!

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

On a day to day basis I [use] Emburse Tallie for mileage expense reports. It has made it very simple to input a [submission] to my manager. All I have to do is submit the start address and the end address and it picks it up automatically. It makes it super easy to submit to my manager for approval. I have not needed to use it for other expenses, but just by looking at it I do not think it will be a problem at all if the need should arise.

Pros

  • Easy address input
  • Calculates mileage for you
  • Organizes it in an easy to read manner

Cons

  • Sometimes(not often) the mileage shows up differently for trips to the same location I have done before.

Likelihood to Recommend

Mileage reporting for expenses is super simple [with Emburse Tallie]. I have not used it in another way so as of now it works great!

Back to traveling means back to expense reimbursement

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Tallie is used by our whole company. It originally was implemented to streamline our travel expenses. Taking a photo of the receipt <b>when </b>you get it is so much easier than taping, scanning, and uploading back at the office <b>after </b>the trip. And forwarding PDF emailed receipts means I don't have to download those either. Finance is happy having receipts; managers are happy they have documentation; staff is happy they get reimbursed quicker.

Pros

  • Allow capture of receipt image.
  • Email receipts too.
  • Paperless reimbursement.

Cons

  • Project code interface timing, but that's likely more on our end. My codes aren't always available right away.
  • The merchant isn't always recognized on the email you forward.

Likelihood to Recommend

As travel begins to pick back up, Tallie makes it easy to photograph those restaurant receipts directly into the app. The meals are also classified to the category correctly most of the time as Tallie recognizes some of the vendors. It also classifies those hotel expenses to lodging when we use regular vendors; one less click/search.

Helping Users Made Easy

Rating: 7 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Tallie within out outsourced accounting department to assist clients with their credit card management needs. The design of Tallie's website not only helps users easily navigate and manage their receipts but as support for those users it's easy to drop in as a user and either help with troubleshooting or complete a task for them.

Pros

  • Functional App for users to upload receipts and provide details of the charge
  • Masquerading abilities for admin users to drop in as a user
  • Overview dashboard to keep up to date on where transactions are in the process

Cons

  • Credit Card connections with providers could use some work to either aid in keeping connections running properly or making it easy for Admin to reset the connections that have paused.
  • A good feature add would be the ability to transfer imported charges to another account. You currently can transfer receipts to another account, but for smaller credit card companies that come in as one card but actually are from multiple cardholders, it'd be easier to be able to send charges to the actual card holder's account.

Likelihood to Recommend

Tallie is great for companies or outsourced accounting teams who are heavily involved with helping users upload receipts or code changes to the correct G/L Account groups or dimensions. Tallie allows for you to set up specific Expense options that are easier for users to chose what charges are for that are mapped to G/L Account groups in the background which allows for more accurate accounting. However, if your accounting books are using other dimensions like departments or projects the more complex the set up the more help a user might need, so it's nice how easy it is to drop into an account to help finish the more complex coding for users prior to them being submitted for approval.

A time-saving expense reporting system

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Tallie is our online resource for processing travel expenses across the whole company. The nature of our business means that most of us are traveling on a regular basis generating a large number of receipts either for personal expenses, mileage in our cars and spending on our company credit cards. Tallie processes all those activities and ensures refunds are made promptly.

Pros

  • The mileage calculator is simple and accurate.
  • Capturing images of receipts is easy.

Cons

  • Capturing info directly from the receipt image rarely works completely and some data is usually added manually.
  • No other issues with it.

Likelihood to Recommend

I have worked 25+ years in the SME biotech sector and I have used many such expense reporting systems. Most have been a complete pain to use and have been very time-consuming to process expenses. In my experience, Tallie has been by far the best. Its simplicity is key, it does just what it needs to do an does it efficiently without over complicating the process. It is very easy and logical to use. I can't think of a situation where this wouldn't be appropriate to use.

Tallie is the most Turn-key Option for expenses

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Tallie is being used organization-wide for keeping accurate track of reimbursable expenses. It is critical to any role that travels outside of home base in order to conduct business. It addresses the business problems of removing the financial burden that some employees face when needing to travel for business while using personal funds to cover upfront costs.

Pros

  • Ease of Use
  • Mobile App
  • Expense Report Submission

Cons

  • Eats phone battery
  • Hard to track post-submission
  • Some strange expense categories

Likelihood to Recommend

Tallie is well suited in pretty much any situation that involves an employee who has to use their own funds to support some sort of business trip. Whether that be food, travel, rental cars, hotel/AirBnB lodgings, Tallie makes sure that the employee gets their money back from the company in an organized fashion.

Easy to use

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Tallie is being across the entire organization (as far as I know) to manage expense reports. Specifically, I am using as a member of the sales department to log expenses.

Pros

  • Mobile App
  • Photo Receipts
  • Mileage estimates
  • Real-time updates on the web app and mobile app.
  • Ease of use/user interface

Cons

  • I have not encountered anything that needs improved in my daily use.
  • Occasionally company names will not auto populate from scanning a receipt but that is not important.

Likelihood to Recommend

Tallie is very easy for anyone to record expenses in real-time, which is ideal to reduce friction in completing expense reports. As a sales rep, my expense reports have always been a pain and something I dreaded and procrastinated to complete my entire career. Usually, they have been done on Excel sheets and involve scanning receipts with handwritten notes. Tallie makes expense reports so easy to do and you can interchangeably update via mobile or website which helps me complete them on time, which results in getting reimbursed quickly.

A Marketeer that uses Tallie!

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

This is the first time I have used Tallie. The whole company uses it for their expense reports and on top of that Marketing Team (my team) uses it for field marketing events and other expenses that come up for our marketing events.

Pros

  • I love how simple it is, and the UI is smooth.
  • Easy to attach receipts and details via the mobile app, which isn't always the case.
  • Enjoy seeing the flow of where my reports are in the approval process.

Cons

  • Sometimes, I wish that on the desktop version that it was easier to give reports names. Sometimes it doesn't save, and when uploading receipts the program starts on a new report.

Likelihood to Recommend

I think for us, it's a perfect fit and I have used a bunch of different competitors to Tallie before and I do enjoy it a lot.
