Nonetheless, Emma remains an affordable and user-friendly marketing email platform that has been successfully employed by various organizations to send regular newsletters and drive traffic to their websites.

Overall, Emma has proven itself as a valuable tool for email marketing, providing effective solutions for a range of use cases across different industries and organizations.

Intuitive and user-friendly interface: Many users have praised Emma for its intuitive and user-friendly interface, stating that it is easy to navigate and perform various tasks such as adding and updating users, importing client lists, and customizing email templates. Up-to-date dashboard with helpful metrics: The up-to-date dashboard in Emma has received high praise from users. They find it to be a great overview of their campaign performance and ranking within the larger community. Users value the ability to compare their campaign performance with others and appreciate the clear and helpful metrics provided, such as open rate, click rate, and number of subscribers. The click map feature, which shows where subscribers are clicking on the newsletter, has also been well-received.

Resending newsletters to non-openers: Users have been impressed with how easy it is to resend newsletters to non-openers in Emma. Although they had to figure out how to do it on their own, they found the process surprisingly simple. This feature allows users to reach a wider audience by giving them another chance to engage with their email campaigns.

Clunky Audience Management: Some users have found the audience management in Emma to be clunky and not straightforward. They have mentioned that it can be challenging to navigate and manage their contacts effectively, which hampers their overall experience with the platform.

Limited Customization Options: Several reviewers have expressed a desire for more customization options in Emma. They feel that the current range of customization tools is limited, making it difficult for them to create unique and visually appealing email templates. They would appreciate having more flexibility and control over the design elements.

Challenging Email Builder: Many users have struggled with the email builder in Emma, finding it challenging to use. They mention that navigating through the interface can be confusing, with bulky icons that often overlap or obstruct important features. This makes it difficult for them to create well-designed emails efficiently.

Users commonly recommend the software for its simplicity and efficiency. They suggest it as a suitable option for companies seeking an easy-to-use system and cost-effective solution. Users specifically highlight its effectiveness in mail merge and mass email work, praising its ease of use and helpful customer support. They also suggest taking advantage of training resources and implementing the software in phases. Users appreciate the software's range of in-text editing flexibility but mention some drawbacks and formatting issues. To fully experience all the software has to offer, users recommend considering the 5,000 contact pricing option. They advise being patient and experimenting with the software to become familiar with its functionality. However, for larger companies with multiple brands or divisions, users suggest considering Hubspot as a better alternative.

Emma is being used across the university by different departments. We use it to send email blasts & campaigns to various groups, i.e: students or faculty.
  • Sending out mass emails to different groups in our case: student, staff, or faculty
  • Segmenting user groups/contacts to send email campaigns to
  • Track your email campaigns and know when someone has opened the email and which links in the campaign they click on
  • Price: the subscription price is higher than competitors like MailChimp
  • It's not freemium, they do not have a free version for individuals who want to use it for small volumes
  • More templates to choose from
  • Better management of contacts and uploading contacts and compaign groups
Well suited for sending mass messages and integrating it with third-party tools. Also good for tracking user activity once the email is sent out. Emma has great analytics around user activity regarding a campaign. Emma is less appropriate for emails to small groups; it would be better to just email the the recipients rather than use Emma.
  • Instead of using regular email to send out mass messages, Emma has saved time in sending out these type of emails
  • Made us more efficient by giving us analytics on user activity once we send out mass messages
  • Saves time when creating custom/branded email messages with the help of the templates Emma provides

Emma is a good alternative, but I think MailChimp may be a better and more affordable alternative. Especially since MailChimp is continuously releasing new features and improving their product.

The marketing department needed an email marketing system that simplified automation - that led us to Emma. Emma is a simplified version of the most complex marketing automation software. We use Emma to trigger targeted messages to our database as well as easily segment our lists. A prior problem we experienced was difficulty segmenting lists, but Emma offers intuitive segmentation that keeps us organized

Apart from the cons which can be found in nearly every WYSIWYG email automation system, Emma provides advanced features using a simplified delivery. Emma is well suited for organizations who aspire to produce drip campaigns but get bogged down by the complexity some systems make it. Being able to easily automate based on activity takes the thought out of what needs to be done. Aside from automation, Emma is also suited for organizations who don't have time to properly segment their lists. Emma gives you real-time data with intuitive building options making segmentation a breeze.

Compared to Act-On, Emma is miles above regarding the ease of use and simplification of complex features. Drip campaigns really are a breeze with Emma's intuitive data. You will experience WYSIWYG glitches due to the nature of the program but Emma offers better templates to avoid having to build from complete scratch.
2
The two folks that use Emma represent the marketing business functions with our organization. They are in charge of all email marketing aspects, as well as digital and printed media.
2
Again, the people that work in Emma represent the marketing business functions so ideally, you want people who understand marketing or have some sort of creative background to use the system. People who have technical skills in relation to coding will also be good at Emma since you can build from scratch or use templates.
  • Lead generation
  • Need to increase sales
  • Need to market direct to customers
  • Internal marketing
  • Place to house downloadable content
  • Drip campaign contests
  • Drip campaigns
  • Retargeting
  • Loyalty building
Emma is a very intuitive email marketing system that lets us reach out to new and existing customers without hassle. The list segmentation features and ease of drip campaign functionality makes the choice to renew Emma an easy decision to make.
Yes
Emma replaced iContact. iContact had numerous flaws for us. For starters, iContact had major issues connected to our Salesforce account. While we got that fixed, that wasn't our first interaction with support. The templates were a nightmare and simple formatting issues made creating an email that would normally take 15 mins into an hour plus long process.
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
The most important feature is usability. If you cannot use a product, then honestly what is the point of having it? Emma makes email management, creation automation, and other aspects easy. Emma is very intuitive and helps to sort out strategic direction. Emma's user-friendly interface makes it easy to navigate and find what you're looking for without having to look up how.
I don't think we would change our process at all. We thoroughly examined numerous email marketing systems and did a bunch of trial runs. For the price, Emma packs in all the "wow" features into a neat package that makes email marketing super easy. Emma also has great tutorials which helps sort out any questions you have.
  • List Segmentation
  • Creating a Drip Campaign
  • A/B Testing
  • Integrating using API feed
  • WYSIWYG editor can have missteps
  • Forms lack some customization features
While every WYSIWYG software will experience glitches, Emma handles them well. Keep in mind they rarely happen, but they do, it can be of annoyance. Regardless, Emma allows my organization to create seamless email campaigns using fresh data. Emma makes coming up with strategic decisions very easy. The list segmentation that Emma feature allows us to easily manage a large list without issues. Overall, Emma is extremely usable with nearly no learning curve!

We currently use Emma for our monthly marketing email to customers. It has provided an easy to use platform to keep customers informed about our latest news and promotions.
  • It's easy to add users. You can either upload an Excel spreadsheet or add them individually. Some platforms I've used in the past make it difficult to add and update users. Emma is the best I've used so far for this function.
  • Adding content is very user friendly. It's basically click and go which means I can have our newsletter ready in no time.
  • The up-to-date dashboard is a great overview of where your campaigns stand and also let you know where you rank in the larger community. It's nice to have a comparison to see how your campaign are doing.
  • I'd like to be able to remove a user instead of just opting them out. This would be useful when people leave a company to keep our numbers in check and accurate.
We needed a quick and easy e-newsletter tool and Emma was it. I placed a general inquiry email one day when I was home sick, but still working, and had a call back within an hour. We were set up and ready to go that night. I sent out our first newsletter the next day. As an international company just beginning US operations, it was important that we have a tool that was easy to use but also looked professional when the emails went out. Emma was all of those things. They built a custom template for me exactly to my specs. It was done quickly so we could use it immediately. I'd recommend Emma for any small or large business who needs a professional looking, yet easy to use tool for email marketing.
  • We have seen up increase in customer engagement since starting with Emma. We see customers clicking on our social media from the links in Emma and receive lots of compliments on the look of our enewsletter.
  • Emma has provided us a very easy format to send out promotions and invitations to customers that give them an easy way to see what we currently have happening within the company.
  • The integrated survey feature has served us well too. It's nice to just be able to add it in to the existing newsletter instead of having to send something separate.

Emma is the easiest to use platform I've tried so far. It was easy to setup and send the first enewsletter. The functionality is very user friendly and it "makes sense" as you go through to add content and users. It's made being a marketing team of one very efficient.
1
I am the head of Marketing at our company and the only one here who currently uses Emma. We are planning on expanding in the future to allow our sales team to use it to market regional promotions to customers as well.
1
So far, I have been able to do everything myself.
  • Monthly eNewsletter
  • Promotions emails
  • Customer satisfaction surveys
  • We plan on using Emma to help our inside sales team stay connected with customers in the future. They will send monthly emails in addition to our main enewsletter with regional news and promotions.
Emma has been a great tool for our marketing. It's easy to use and I've had no issues in the almost two years we've been with them. It's really been a great way for us to stay connected with customers that takes no time to setup and send.

Emma is used by the Marketing department, but for cross-departmental communications to clients, partners, internally to company employees, and to prospects in campaigns. For example, we'll send out Help Desk notifications on behalf of Support, company newsletters on behalf of HR, or lead generation campaigns on behalf of sales. It solves the problem of having a central, branded communications solution for outgoing mass email communications and allows us to track responses.
  • Beautiful templates and easy to customize for my own needs
  • Easy to insert my own images and can store a large library of them to use
  • Response tracking is well laid out and clear
  • I like the UI a lot ever since a recent update, it's very clean and the email builder is easier to use
  • One of the main reasons we got the solution is that we were told it would integrate with our CRM tool, Salesforce. Well it does "integrate" technically, but functionally is almost useless. You can't see results at the account level and there's no way our Sales team is going to click into every single contact just to see if they were contacted via Emma. This has been disappointing for us and we felt mislead from the sales process.
  • Everything moves slowly in Emma, sometimes painfully slow. Even just switching between tabs (ex. campaigns to audience) can take a long time to load. Every once in a while it gets a bit better but the average speed is too slow for my liking and makes me frustrated.
  • More in depth formatting tools. I hate that I can't control the paragraph/line spacing very well (I CAN adjust spacing between lines up to a point but not between paragraphs)
  • Support is terrible. I hate that the only support is to ask a question on the forum publicly and wait for an answer. I would like the ability to live chat with someone about my problem or at the very least, email my support question and get it answered without having to type out a public question and wait around.
Salesforce integration is NOT as good as the Emma sales team makes it out to be.
  • More efficient and professionally branded mass communication (to clients, partners, prospects, and internally)

We chose Emma because at the time we didn't need a full marketing automation platform like Pardot or Marketo and just wanted an easy to use, well priced email communications tool that integrated with our CRM Salesforce.

No it hasn't happened.
  • Template customization - I can format templates to brand it to my liking very quickly. The email builder is very well designed.
  • Contact imports are easy and quickly take me through all the steps.
  • Sometimes I want formatting capabilities (like more advanced line spacing) that I have to go into the html to fix. I hate anytime I have to do that when the WYSIWYG doesn't have the features I need.

Emma is currently being used in our department to communicate with our executive members. Emails go out frequently to let them know about events and their membership and seating. It address a communication issue as it helps get our message out to many clients at once.
  • Has a very good and easy set up to send emails in mass
  • Easy to use to insert text boxes, photos and links
  • Easy to import lists to send message to fans and clients
  • When designing a message it seems to save too frequently and has caused problems with that
Emma is a good program to use if you frequently send communication to a mass quantity of people. You can also save things from year to year if you do some of the same programs or events.
  • Faster communication to clients
  • Doesn't take a lot of time away to put together emails
In my past role we had used Emma originally and then switched to a more complicated system, I prefer Emma and how easy it can be accessed.
Emma is reasonably priced and offers a lot for what we use it for so we most likely will renew.
