I feel that Evernote is an excellent place to collect and store information that requires easy access and retrieval. Taking that as a baseline, you can go in multiple directions and use it in any number of ways.

I've seen it used by people in outside sales as a way to organize their customers and accounts. Taking that a step further, an Evernote user can take a photo or record an audio clip or jot down some text from within a particular customer's folder either during or right after the sales call. This could be useful if the folder was shared with an assistant back at the office. Evernote also has a camera feature that will take a photo of a business card and add the contact information to a note, as well as the card image. Likewise with Post-It Notes.

Evernote would be useful for team collaboration, especially if the team was in remote locations and using shared folders. A note could be started by the project lead, and the collaborators could all work on the same note, adding pictures and documents as needed.

I've heard of bloggers and website admins who have any contact submissions made on their website/blog automatically emailed to a folder in their Evernote account. These emails are automatically organized in a folder to be dealt with by them or someone they share the folder with.

I think Evernote is extremely useful for those who rely on content creation strategies. These would be marketers and small business owners, as well as those who operate blogs. Evernote has the right features to help these persons organize their thoughts and to complete their projects on time. The sharing feature for notebooks is also an aid.

Evernote is appropriate when you're on the go and need to jot things that quickly. It might not be the best application to use when you're trying to write formal letters or documents. However, it's very easy to use and good for on the spot use. It's also handy when you have access to wi-fi

I can't compare it to other products, because I haven't used anything else like it. I think Evernote is a no-brainer (particularly the free personal version) if you'll use it. For a business, you'll do better if you have some group of people who already use Evernote in their personal lives. They can drag everyone else along.

Evernote is an excellent tool for helping people cull information in both personal and professional scenarios, boosting productivity by helping individuals get more done in less time while quickly finding what they need. Business owners can share content with employees, team members can share content with each other or clients / vendors, sales professionals can make presentations, homeowners can keep decorating and maintenance information and those service professionals that work with multiple clients can easily record related notes. Then, all the information culled into your database is easily accessible from anywhere across all your tech tools. It's a tool that helps anyone and everyone.

I use Evernote and Dropbox for information storage. I use Dropbox for long term storage and items I won't need to access that often. Evernote is great for storing full documents too and it is easier to access on your phone. It is easier to find things in Evernote. It has a terrific search function.

I have recommended Evernote to colleagues and friends. The only place where I do not feel it is suited is for keeping track of passwords, they do have encrypted sections of notes, but it needs to be clearer on how to use. Otherwise, use it for everything you want to remember, or that you might want to remember. The storage limit on the free account is really high until you start uploading a lot of photos. So I would recommend recording everything you can.

I'm not sure how Evernote would work in a large corporate environment with stringent IT departments but for a small to medium business size (which is what we are) this product stands up extremely well. There are countless advantages with Evernote and it's ability to streamline information. It's value increases everyday with the existence of the Evernote app center, new applications and uses are brought into existence every day.

If you really know what you want Evernote to do for you, i.e. you have a specific use case in mind, then you're an ideal user. If you don't really know how you want to use it, then it could take some time to figure out how to best structure your notes, notebooks, and stacks to suit your needs. But, once you've gotten your structure worked out, it will be your best friend for life.

How are you looking to use Evernote? Or what are you looking to accomplish? I share an example of how I've used Evernote with clients and see if that will work for them too. Sometimes people feel so limited and they don't realize all their options without checking out what's available and then make the best decision.

It is well suited for WWDC, or any conferences (It looks really cool on the iPad). It is less appropriate to use as a web platform. (I don't like UI Design in the web.)
I think the key question in the selection process is "How easy is it to take notes"? Different platforms have different elements. iPads and others tablets are totally different. So they should design Evernote differently. That's what I think. It must be very easy to use in different scenarios.

If you are a photo or video buff or somebody who is going to create lots of notes with lots of large attachments and/or try to email them into your Evernote account, you are probably going to find it challenging, given the email size limitation (5MB), the Note size limitation (100MB), and the monthly data synchronization limitation (1GB). Other than that, which does not apply to most people, I cannot see how this app would not benefit virtually anybody.

Evernote is for anyone who is always on the go or that uses their mobile device all the time. If I don't jot down ideas promptly, I forget. Evernote really solved that problem for me. It's just really nice to have my ideas typed out and synced so I can get to them later.

Evernote is great for storing and managing all of your information or you can use it for particular areas in your business (or personal use). Some key questions to ask is how many people need to share this information? Do you need to have different levels of access per user? Your budget?

I've recommended this to several colleagues. Like me, they have come to use it as a go to anytime they need to store anything. It could be meeting notes, project lists, anything you'd write on a post-it note, pictures, documents, anything you can thing of really. The only required resources are having the client installed on your computer and mobile devices.

Security is a concern. I do not put content into Evernote that is private/confidential as I am unaware of the security methods employed. Ideally, notebooks could be encrypted in storage and require a password or token when opening them.
The ability to share with team members is awesome. But do any capabilities exist to remove notes from a user's account if that individual is removed from a team?

My "outboard brain"

If security and confidentiality is a big concern, I would avoid Evernote. I would recommend it both to straightforward users (just want an "outboard brain" to store data) and those who are interested in innovative uses that Evernote Ambassadors put Evernote to. I have not used Evernote for business, but find it excellent for personal use. The premium version does not offer great improvement, on the surface, but power users may need the additional features.
