We have been using Origami in the creative department for the last five years. We use the software for presentations on how a packaging looks in render form so the team and executives can understand how the finished box will look. We also export from Origami to other softwares for creating 3D renders of our product(s), whether it's online use or for presentation only.
  • Proper view of closed or open box
  • Control of adding degree of angle for flaps to see how a box looks open or closed
  • High resolution exports from Origami to other softwares
  • Love the new capability of being able to add multiple boxes for a group render/image
  • It can be glitchy at times
  • Challenging dielines can sometimes be difficult to render in Origami unless you trick it
  • Large files with a lot of elements can slow down the software
I love Origami and have always recommended the software to other designers. I use Origami on a daily basis, especially when working on new packaging designs. It's nice to see how a box/package looks live while working on moving elements around in the artwork along with making sure dielines work properly and there won't be much work needed on the vendor's end to adjust dielines.
  • Prebuilt dielines for fast/easy use
  • Live viewing on how packaging looks when working on the artwork
  • Applying an angle measurement for opening/moving flaps
  • No negative impact
  • Price is great
  • Saved us time and money in dieline creation
  • Saved us time on rendering out DAE files from origami to other softwares for rendering
Origami is a faster/easier way to view and render 3D views of packaging files--especially the instant gratification when adjusting artwork and or dielines before rendering out to other softwares. Other than Blender being free, this software is much easier to use for unexperienced users. Someone can learn Origami in matter of minutes--that's how easy it is.
