  • It was quick to learn and master most things in it, so it saved a lot of money in training time.
  • On more complex projects it has become very sluggish so I have probably limited the scope of some projects to fix how well Final Cut Pro can handle the work load.
  • For the short videos I do create with it, it is quick and easy to edit with Final Cut Pro X, so I can put out a number of videos a week if I have to.

  • Keeps the workflow going smoothly on an edit from beginning to end edit.
  • Slight negatives impact on ROI when the program becomes occasionally unstable after an update.
  • Also, with Final Cut Pro X, you don't have to continually pay a monthly fee as you do with Adobe CC products... definitely a win.

  • Helps me to easily pump out content as needed without any real issues.
  • Numbers on social posts from videos made in Final Cut Pro X are higher than those that are lazily thrown together and uploaded.
  • Final Cut Pro X is a relatively cheap product and has yielded some much higher quality video content than other software options could provide.

  • From a cost standpoint, it's hard to beat the investment into FCPX. I paid for the software 9 years ago, and my entire team has been using it since - without any more investment. In 5-6 months, Adobe CC (Premiere Pro) costs more than FCPX - it's pretty obvious which is a better scenario.
  • One of the biggest drawbacks has been training - so many editors abandoned ship when Apple launched FCPX, they didn't market it well or seem to provide much assistance to the pro editing community that so loved FCP7, so of course, not many people jumped over to FCPX. We end up training more editors on FCPX than we find have to experience. There is a cost to this - although in the long run, if an editor is a good editor, it is well worth it.
  • I think Final Cut Pro X has allowed our editors to focus on what matters: focusing on the story, flow, and being a creative editor - not just clicking buttons and making the software work. It's a more natural editing process overall and it's very easy to shift entire sections around when you need to rearrange.

  • Much of the industry uses Final Cut Pro X for their video production, so swapping edit files or hard drives loaded with footage is more often than not compatible. It's always frustrating when you want to help someone on a project only to find you have a different version of the same software, or different software altogether.
  • Its ability to export the finished project into many different formats has been very helpful. Many film festivals and distributors have their own preference of what you give them, and FCPX can handle most if not all of them.
  • I still wish you could rent them. Sometimes the price tag hurts when you haven't had a project in a few months and wish you could have saved a few hundred dollars.

  • Only positive really. I've helped (with FCPX) bring this company into the modern age of training. When I got here, we had nothing. Now, three years later, we're building a small studio this year.

  • Like I said before, Final Cut is fairly intuitive to use and can handle the small tweaking we needed to do to raw video quite easily, this allowed for a quick turn around time on our videos.
  • Some of our staff primarily used Premiere and the transition for them took more time than was initially anticipated.
