FireMon

Tufin and Skybox are products that I've analyzed over the past few years, but never purchased.

FireMon is very different from other competitive products. SiQL is very powerful--you can get any query with vast options. However, it’s also complex. Multiple-vendor support is one of the main points. Similar solutions in the market do not have the capability to parse the logs. FireMon can parse any format. You can access the parser configuration and change whatever is needed. Then get the results. The modifications for the parser is easily seen and maintained. Multi-vector scoring in FireMon is unique compared to one or two vectors in other solutions. All rules in one screen with the scores are widely visible, while other products just show the flawed rules. FireMon can give you excellence in security. Central monitoring of collectors is a big plus. Complex deployments are easily set. FireMon has built-in security in its own manager or collectors, it’s somehow bulletproof. I don’t need to worry about the security of these components.

I can't say that I've looked at a lot of competitors. What I can say however is that the great majority of those competitors simply offer reporting and tracking. Although in this review I have emphasized on just that area myself let me clearly identify that FireMon is more than that. Yes, I can run reports - but I can also canvas my team and come up with specific controls that we want to enforce going forward. A user submits a ticket and wants a rule with any object let's say - our admins will be told by FireMon that the security team has already said "NO - that's bush league stuff - get out of here with that nonsense" and that admin will then work with the user to identify a better solution. That's just one specific example...

I have used other ticketing systems, but only FireMon for firewall reporting.

FireMon does its core components very well.

Haven't had others to compare.

I already had experience with the Tufin and AlgoSec products, and the customization that FireMon provides is just not available with the other products. The licensing of FireMon over AlgoSec is another winner for us.

We were impressed with FireMon's native cloud support and compliance reporting, in looking at other vendors we were not too impressed by their ability to support cloud-native technologies and their reporting was less than stellar. We did not want a solution that would last only a few years and FireMon was able to provide us with what we needed, and we felt comfortable that they would support the direction we were going. By far they were they were the most engaged with the vetting process.

We haven't leveraged anything else.

You can get central management and reporting from another vendor's tool. However, if your environment has multiple brands of devices you would have to log in to several dashboards to view changes. With FireMon, you can get notifications across all network components when a change is done.

For our use case, only FireMon met our needs with the systems we use.

FireMon was selected because we felt it was more robust and was a better fit for our environment.

FireMon met all of our needs, no other products were evaluated.

FireMon stacks up favorably, [it is] more stable which is our primary concern.

We've not attempted to use any other products like this. Prior to using this, we did everything with homegrown tools.

We have not used any other competing products. We were turned onto the product by our security consultant and we have been very pleased with the product. Based on our happiness we have not had a need to seek out an alternative product.

I have not used other products, as FireMon was here by the time I got hired and as we are happy with its features, there is no point in testing something else...at least for the moment.

We didn't have to evaluate another product. We liked what FireMon could do and what it could add to our network security team. It was the sexy user interface that really sold us.

Lower cost with the needed functionality we were looking for. Other products may have had more functionality but the cost was much higher.

Technically speaking FireMon Security Manager scored higher than the AlgoSec Firewall Analyzer. It is also less expensive than other solutions.

We have not used or evaluated any other services. FireMon is a local company to us so it seemed like the obvious choice.

In QRadar we can only get the logs information and vulnerabilities but we can't get the detailed reports. In FireMon we get the detailed reports with the description of the problem and the solution.
