  • Control of internet usage with organisational policies.
  • Secure internet access for users even when not in the office network.

  • All the components can be virtual - no need to purchase any physical appliance.
  • From what I had a chance to see, Forcepoint prices are very competitive (in comparison to other proxy vendors).
  • I spent (or actually wasted) a lot of time with their support when I had problems with the system. This can be very frustrating.

  • In a short period of time it is reflected positively by increasing the available time of the security team.
  • It can also be reflected in the time users spend surfing the Internet on sites not related to work.

  • The price was very competitive with alternative products we investigated.

  • Social media access can be controlled so users use the social media for business purposes when appropriate.

  • It is actually a hard question to answer. As part of broader security infrastructure, it has performed well in its intended role. We have not suffered any significant breaches since it was installed. However, it is difficult to ascribe this solely to the Forcepoint Web Security. For instance, we also use the Umbrella DNS servers and they may prevent users from accessing malicious websites as well. Forcepoint provides flexibility where the DNS servers do not.

  • ROI is troublesome to analyze. The software is expensive and you can't really put a dollar amount on users' internet activity.
  • Like I mentioned before, configuration is the key. One main issue we have is users not having correct internet use policies. We only handle about 800 users, can't imagine thousands.

  • Forcepoint Web Security requires investment in purchase and time spent to gain knowledge on how to implement and manage the product.
  • We cannot say for sure how much is saved, but in the reports, we see that a lot of malicious content is blocked and that access to non-business related sites is restricted where it is needed.

  • It kept our users out of bad/unwanted sites.
  • Gave big brother data to management via reports.

  • We have been able to curb user habits through HR and through the built in quotas for certain website categories, which has led to less user surfing time.
  • We have seen certain types of potentially malicious websites blocks where users have clicked on something unaware and been prevented from accessing based on certain types of protocol blocks IT put in place.
  • We have also been able to monitor bandwidth usage per user and when we had spikes on our network saturation reports from our ISP, we could tell who was causing the usage issue and address it with the individual, which allowed to determine if we needed to scale up with additional bandwidth or if we just had a user(s) hogging all the bandwidth for streaming media and causing a false sense of usage for the company as a whole. This has saved us money by allowing us to maintain the right size pipes with our ISP.

  • The websense filtering has helped us to reduce and eliminate productivity losses from some gaming and streaming services.
  • We have been able to lower our liability from illegal streaming services and also adult content viewing (and also reduced the internet uses related to those services).
  • The filtering service has helped us to prevent virus spread on the network and also helped as a layer to pinpoint affected endpoints, that had gone unnoticed by our antivirus solution. By alerting to those early infections, we can quarantine the device before the infection spreads or affects other endpoints.
  • The solution has given the HR department reporting they needed when employees were under review without having to pull any local logs or have any local solutions installed.
  • The hybrid client has worked well in a few remote offices, meaning we didn't need a separate proxy service to filter and protect that traffic.

  • I wouldn't try to justify the purchase on an ROI basis. It's a necessary product that you must have. It's the best in the business. Why not go with the best?
