What is Foxit PDF SDK?

Foxit PDF SDK offers high performance pdf libraries to help developers build pdf technology.

According to the vendor, key features include:

  • Render PDFs: High performance PDF libraries to render PDF pages, page objects, annotations, and forms the way they were intended to be viewed: sharp, clear, accurate, and easy to read. Allows applications to view, zoom in, zoom out, and print PDF documents and forms.
  • Reflow: PDF is a fixed-layout flat document format, it cannot automatically word wrap according to the width of a page. Reflow is a function that automatically rearranges page content when the page size changes.
  • Asynchronous support: Asynchronous is a method to access PDF pages without loading the whole document, so applications do not have to wait for the whole PDF file to be downloaded before accessing them. For example, readers can start reading the first page while the rest of the document is still loading.
  • Page organization: Merge and combine specified page ranges from different PDF files into a single PDF.
  • Annotations: Annotations are a very powerful feature within PDF. It enhances the interactivity between collaborating colleagues to share ideas and feedback. The PDF SDK provides APIs for annotation creation, properties access, and modification (appearance setting and drawing). It also provides APIs to export and import all annotations from and to PDF and FDF document.

Foxit PDF is our goto software for PDF files. It is a lightweight program in comparison to Adobe and has all the functionality that we need.
  • Helpful tool to aid in PDF file development
  • Less system requirements than Adobe
  • Priced right and competitive
  • More tutorials would be nice
So far we don't have any complaints with Foxit PDF SDK, it does everything we need it to at a very competitive price point.

Foxit PDF is Great!

We use Foxit PDF as our main document editor for PDFs in our organization. Foxit PDF allows us to create, edit, and enhance PDFs much like how Adobe Acrobat does. Instead of using Adobe, we went with the lighter weight, more manageable option with Foxit PDFs. This works for all departments not demanding too much training and it gets the job done when mocking up proposals or carrying out e-signature requirements for documents.
  • Editing PDFs.
  • Electronically Signing Documents.
  • Creating handbooks and proposals.
  • Adding Text Fields to documents.
  • Adding and removing pages.
  • Sharing out to other applications.
Where FoxIt suites best is if you need an alternative to the big-name PDF editors. It's pretty easy to use and it's comparable to Adobe or any other document editor. It is best used when mocking up proposals for work, creating employee handbooks, putting together offer letters, and essentially any other important document. This is not suitable for creating brochures or pamphlets.

We are a chemical production company and have tested several different providers. After lengthy testing and review, we decided to use Foxit PDF SDK in many offices enterprise-wide. Our staff loves Foxit and it is easy to use.
  • Converting all pdf document to Excel, Word.
  • You can edit, merge, convert and modify.
  • Easy and perfect solutions.
  • Nothing negative about it, at least my experience.
We used Foxit PDF SDK, in the management and accounting departments, mainly to convert invoices and purchasing documents and vendor lists. It allows setting passwords when we shared documents between offices.

Our company uses the Foxit PDF SDK to work with PDF files. I collaborate with the production and manufacturing teams on various scripts, program material, and plan sheets. We mostly work with Word Docs, which we then convert to PDF after a project is completed. We may use the Foxit PDF SDK to add initials, annotations, and remarks, as well as interact with multiple files. We use Foxit to convert photos into pdfs in addition to papers. In actuality, it is a useful tool that performs admirably for us.
  • It offers excellent text handling. It's simple to add rapid markup.
  • It allows you to encrypt your data and set passwords for more protection.
  • Customization for web plugins are available.
  • PDF editing is cumbersome, and producing new PDFs from scratch is time-consuming.
  • It doesn't always do a good job at compressing files.
The issue with the application not re-opening previously opened files is a major one for me, therefore I docked a point for that . When editing documents, it usually works well, but there are a few idiosyncrasies, such as the ability to add an extra line when changing a block of text or the inability to define page margins on the left and right. These peculiarities do not bother me, although they might be improved.

Back when we used this tool at the office we would use it to create PDFs either from scratch or pre existing templates. It would satisfy our digital needs when it came to editing these portable document files and make our staff lives easier whenever they had to create forms
  • Intuitive user interface
  • Many features
  • Editing documents
  • Costly
  • Renewing the license can be a pain
  • OCR can sometimes crash or it's slow
This piece of software is very well suited for editing portable document files (PDFs), creating forms either from scratch or from templates available at your disposal. It is great for pulling text information from PDFs using its OCR feature and in this digital age long gone are the days when physical forms are needed.

Foxit PDF SDK is used by our organization to work with Pdf files. I work with programming and production teams to finalize different scripts, program content, and daily schedule sheets. Primarily, we work with Word Docs and then convert it to Pdf when something finalizes. Foxit PDF SDK helps us to add signatures, comments, and notes, and work with multiple files. Besides documents, we also convert images into pdfs by using Foxit. In all reality, it is an effective tool that does an excellent job for us. It would be fair to say that Foxit PDF SDK has enabled us to be more productive. Good job!
  • It is a very cool development kit to integration different PDF functions.
  • It is user-friendly and convenient to work with.
  • It has great functionality for text. For example: adding quick markup, highlighting the text, underlining, and doing strikethrough, and adding signatures is pretty easy.
  • It offers to do encryption and add passwords for security.
  • Great search capability that helps finding the text without hassle.
  • There's one thing that bothers me a lot. Sometime people convert the text file to an image PDF which can not be altered or edited. I dunno if it is the fault of Foxit PDF SDK or it is just out of application's scope.
  • We previously used Adobe to do the same things and the transitioning to Foxit PDF SDK was not easy for some people. Nevertheless, it didn't give me a lot of trouble and I honed my skillset very easily. Moreover, the support is very active and they'd help you to solve the problem quickly.
It is well-suited for PDF documentation. If your business has the need to edit documents on daily basis, Foxit PDF SDK will be very beneficial. It offers quick conversions and a variety of tools to work with the documents. In my opinion, you should go for it if you have a large scale of work but if you're a student or a single person it can be a bit expensive.

Here at the company we use Foxit PDF SDK with all the features it offers. Some functionality is used for pdf preview, pdf signatures, pdf forms, pdf annotations and the best thing is you can use any of their platforms. As my very familiar work with pdf documents, I find the Foxit PDF SDK useful.
  • highlights that can be shared
  • pdf signature with personal signatures
  • signature save for future use
  • content review resources
  • Combine multiple PDFs into one PDF
  • File explorer preview is not good
  • In the C# SDK, which is a wrapper of native C++ code. We need to be extra careful in coding and protecting the calls, because it can be very easy to crash the application in case of errors.
The best thing I like about Foxit PDF SDK is that it is extremely lightweight. The community is another great place to find solutions where people improve their experiences using the tool. You look for solutions to almost every type of problem you encounter using this great tool.

Foxit PDF SDK is used to review the important PDF sent to the client using emails. It helps to identify the font, signature, and spacing issues in the PDF. The SDK can be easily integrated into the development environment which further helped to review the PDF in the web browser without installing any other software.
  • We can customize the pdf according to the need easily.
  • User can interact with the pdf easily over web without any plugins.
  • It provides a cross-platform pdf viewing solution and easy to integrate.
  • Loading time is more in case of large pdf which needs to be improved.
  • Pdf with comments added should be shown effectively.
  • Developer help topic pages needs improvement , the sites are little slow.
When you need affordable, easily integrated, and well-maintained SDK for your pdf stuff; I would recommend the Foxit SDK. When your product users have to view, secure, and edit the documents online without installing any other plugins then Foxit SDK will be a good solution. It will be less appropriate to use this SDK when a user only has to view the PDF and doesn't want to do any other operations on this pdf document.

Currently, all of our papers are saved as PDFs using Foxit PhantomPDF. So far, we've gotten rid of more than 30 file cabinets. We also have a scan-and-shred mechanism in place, which scans and shreds all new documents as soon as they arrive (or almost all of them). Finally, we compress all of our huge files using the PDF optimizer.
  • Reducing the size of a PDF
  • Making one PDF out of a bunch of smaller ones
  • Creating a PDF file and then printing it
  • Their PDF editing is clunky, and creating from scratch is tedious
  • When it crashes, the crash reporting tool is broken
  • On a busy page, Edit Text sometimes struggle to grab the proper text
It's ideal for small businesses trying to go paperless. It's inexpensive, simple to use, and provides a smooth conversion process. In my opinion, it's also a good option for firms who only want to convert their incoming and outgoing mail to attachments. This is where we began, and everything functioned perfectly from the get-go. Some of these characteristics may already exist in a larger system, therefore I don't think they'd be necessary for huge corporations.

I use Foxit PDF SDK to create and edit PDF forms, create fillable pdf forms, redact information from documents, and present slide shows. It allows me to share documents with customers in a format that everyone can utilize no matter if they use a pc or mac product.
  • Recognizes text (OCR)
  • Pleasant user interface
  • Create fillable forms
  • Edit existing text (in certain circumstances)
  • Doesn't always compress files well - there's not much difference in size between an original and a compressed file.
  • When editing text it sometimes separates text into cumbersome blocks.
  • Setting to re-open previous files when starting up the program doesn't always work. It will open the files for a little while but then it quits remembering to re-open the previously open files.
For me, the issue with the program not re-opening previously open files is a big issue so I dropped a point on the scale for that. If that is not important to someone then I would likely give it a rating of 9. It typically does well when editing documents but there are some quirks such as creating an extra line when editing a block of text or not being able to set page borders on the left and right. These quirks are not a huge deal for me but could use some improvement.

Easily create PDFs out of web forms with the options to use the digital signature which dramatically increases workflow and gets rid of redundant paper usage.
  • Secure electronic (digital) signatures
  • Email integration
  • Very good web interface
  • Text wrapper can be fiddly
  • Win10 compatibility
  • Web app can sometimes crash
It's very good for document generation, easy to add in digital signature options and manage the verification process afterward. It's way better than what I used before and certainly better than having to print out a bunch of papers that end up in a file anyway. Forms are easy to set up and if you 'scrape' them off a web page minimal effort is required to get it ready though the multiple-line text boxes can be a bit tricky.

I used Foxit PDF SDK as a PDF reader for the Linux-based Ubuntu operating system. It is one of the rare software to work perfectly with Ubuntu, and has a number of extra features like highlighting and adding of shapes, which is missing from the normal software present in Ubuntu 16.04.
  • Highlighting
  • Adding shapes
  • Opening multiple PDFs at the same time
  • It is a little slow.
  • The tools are difficult to use.
  • It could be more lightweight.

I use Foxit simply because most of our files are sent in PDF format and Foxit had a nice free version we tested and deployed to the whole plant. We use it among 20 users and we also convert files to PDF for an easy read and simplicity for filing.
  • Easy to open.
  • Simple format.
  • User friendly.
  • Color scheme is heavy.
  • Hard to read at times.
  • Could be free.
It works well in user case scenarios and was easy to set up for all of our users. I like the scheme but some things are hard to read with the bright white and hurts eyes at times. Not a big issue but turns some people off. I would also like it to have other stuff.

Each year, our Tour needs to sign 40-50 films to take part in the Tour, and 50-70 independent hosts to present the Tour. Gathering the information for the agreement fields, keeping track of who has signed (and making sure they have completed all mandatory fields), and reminding people who haven't signed, would be a very time consuming. Foxit PDF SDK takes a lot of the hassle out of this! While reminders can be sent manually, I do wish for more control over automated reminders and a record of when reminders were sent. Also, it would be great to be able to associate a specific cover email template with a specific agreement, rather than just a single default template for all emails (at least you can change the template manually.) Foxit PDF SDK is much more convenient than Adobe Sign, which we used before.
  • Ensure that recipients fill out all mandatory fields
  • Track who has signed
  • Template emails
  • Tracking when reminders were sent
  • Automatic reminders - more control
  • Different default templates for different agreements
I really like being able to send agreements easily to people, who can then securely sign, but only after filling out the mandatory fields. You can quickly send agreements to people, and they can fill in the required information. If it is important to know when people were reminded, or you have a large number of agreements which need their own cover emails, Foxit PDF SDK can be a bit limiting.

Foxit PDF SDK is used across our entire takeoff department. We use it along with other programs to view plan files, create pdf files, and make notes. Foxit PDF SDK allows us to view, edit, markup print, and create files to use in house or to send out to our customers. Some of our users absolutely love the software and some choose to use other software because they feel Foxit PDF SDK is limited.
  • Ease of use
  • User friendly
  • Lack of options
  • Not as powerful as others.
I prefer another program for a few reasons. One is that I am more familiar with another program, and two is that I feel that the other application has more capabilities for what I am trying to do. However, that is not saying that Foxit PDF SDK is not a powerful and useful tool. Many other engineers and estimators in our department love using Foxit PDF SDK because of its ease of use. It is much more user-friendly, and there are not as many options available, which can be intimidating to some. For those that want full capabilities and customization, I would say another program might be better suited for them. However, if you want a step up from something like adobe, with more options and that is more user-friendly, I would say Foxit PDF SDK is an excellent choice.

We abstract commercial real estate leases and have tested several different providers. After lengthy testing and review, we elected to utilize Foxit enterprise-wide. Our staff loves Foxit. Abstracting leases is a complicated and time-consuming process. FOXIT makes it easy.
  • Converting .pdf documents to Word without losing the context of the sentence.
  • Conversion is very clean compared to the market leaders.
  • We have nothing negative to say about Foxit at this time. It is the perfect solution for us.
We find Foxit to be the best product/solution for our line of business. The conversion from a .pdf to a Word document is superior to the other major provider. We have experienced zero conversion errors.

All the departments in my company use this software for PDF related work. I personally use this software as a part of the sales team in my company. It helps me to create pdf forms for filling in customers' information digitally. It also helps me to encrypt the highly confidential documents of my company and my clients as well.
  • Its encryption feature gives my documents high-level security.
  • Its zoom-in and zoom-out feature help users reading the documents.
  • Its digital signature feature helps users to get the signature digitally and save papers.
  • Its mobile application is not as good as its Windows application.
  • Sometimes it takes lots of time to generate large PDF files compared to Adobe.
  • Its toolbar is slightly difficult to use for me because of its arrangements.
This software is very good at providing security to PDF files. Its encryption ensures high-end security for my confidential documents. I can easily share those documents on email. It is also good at adding signatures to any document. It helps the user the avoid unnecessary printing of that document for signature purposes only.
