Every time we send out a video to a client, for review or for final delivery, we do it on the frame.io platform.
  • Allows clients to make frame-specific notes, so there is no confusion what they are talking about.
  • When multiple stakeholders are making notes, platform automatically sorts them chronologically in the video.
  • Multiple stakeholders giving notes can see when their note conflicts with a colleague's.
  • The navigation controls for reviewing video are quite good for an online platform, but the instructions for a non-video professional should be right there on the review screen.
  • Wish there was a way to use embed codes on the hosted videos so they could be embedded on our website portfolio page (or others).
The best thing about frame.io (and the reason we subscribed to the service in the first place), is it is very easy for clients to give notes when reviewing videos we produce for them. It allows them -- forces them, actually -- to give frame specific notes, so there is no confusion about what shot they are talking about.

The one thing that would be nice would be another area for clients to make more global, general notes, so that both the global and specific notes could all be referenced in one place.

But overall, had this service for about three years and still very happy with it.

The company I work for using Frame.io as a platform to review video proofing. We use Frame.io as an internal and external video reviewing platform. It is very helpful when we are working remotely and cannot easily meet to have Frame.io as a way to share and review projects.
  • file structure
  • commenting
  • project management
  • Stack multiple versions of videos
  • sending downloadable links
  • file structure
At the company I work for, we use Frame.io as a way to share and review video projects both internally and externally with our clients. This platform is well suited for these situations as everyone who is invited to the folder is able to view and make comments and critiques on the video at any given point through out the project.

We use Frame.io to share video files, photos and documents. In addition, we use the presentation aspect to share with clients. It helps us keep all of our digital media organized in an easy to use platform.
  • Organization and display of Digital Assets
  • Presentation pages
  • Review pages
  • Copy presentation settings from last created presentation
The review feature is simple to use. Instead of writing long emails trying to describe the process we can easily comment at particular points on a digital asset. This way the entire team is on board and can easily understand what is being said.

We use Frame.io to share drafts of our patient education videos amongst members of our company and some people outside the company.
  • Sharing videos privately
  • Commenting on specific parts of a video
  • Drawing over a video it illustrate a point
  • User management
Frame.io is great for sharing and collaborating on videos with remote teams. You can make comments marked at a timestamp. You can draw on top of the video to highlight a point or make a suggestion. It s a great tool.

Frame.io is used by all our internal departments to manage client edits to their wedding films and Frame.io is where our clients add their edits to their films. Frame.io allows us to easily collect, store, and manage the edits on each film. The platform is easy to use internally and easy for our clients to use as well. We were pleased when we switched from Wipster to Frame.io.
  • Frame.io easily collects edits submitted by internal or external team members.
  • Frame.io allows our internal team to keep track of edits on films and have internal communication regarding edits and still keep everything within the platform.
  • Frame.io allows our links to films to be tracked and expire if need be.
  • The upload speeds to frame and from Frame to Vimeo or Dropbox are fast!
  • Frame.io's permissions aren't great. Each individual project has its own permissions and there is no way to set a general admin permissions to team members thus allowing them to be added to every project.
  • Frame.io sometimes has issues for our clients where they cannot add edits or where their film does not load.
I think Frame.io is well suited for any video production company, large or small. The comment settings allow both internal and external people to add edits to films in a project which allows for great collaboration. It might be cost-prohibitive for smaller companies, but the platform is well designed and would be useful for any production company. We've enjoyed using Frame and it has helped our post-production process run smoothly and quickly.

I have a boutique video production company that utilizes Frame.io across the organization. We use Frame.io for internal video review as well as video review and versioning with clients. It serves as an excellent solution to the problem of collecting, organizing, and filtering feedback on video reviews. It's easy to edit access uniquely for each video and saves significant amounts of time when sharing edits and receiving feedback when collaborating on a video project.
  • Simple UI. Its drag and drop interface makes uploading and organizing something that happens inherently. Versioning is a huge issue when reviewing videos and frame allows you to keep old versions while prioritizing updated edits on the same link.
  • Frame.io allows you to make accurate notes on a video down to the frame - including drawing on a frame to indicate exact details your notes refer to. This allows for your post team to know exactly what the note-maker is referring to.
  • Privacy settings. Frame has an easy way to manage sharing by providing a "review link" and a "presentation" - this allows you to limit whether a reviewer has access to provide notes or just to review an edit. Simple password protection is an option for any review as well as the option for allowing a file to be downloadable.
  • The Frame.io platform is not as functional on an iPad. There is no iPad app and though the browser version of the software has been improved, it's still not up to snuff with the iOS app for iPhone. This is a huge miss on Frame.IO's part as we use iPads for review regularly and have issues playing back and managing note making in Frame.
  • Bang for the Buck. The pricing structure is quite limiting. 100 gigs of uploads is hardly enough for a team who regularly produced video, but that seems to be what Frame.io thinks is the sweet spot for upload limits for the professional team price package. The next plan up is an absurd $224 more per month for only 4x the upload limit. We produce half hour episodes of TV for public television so this limit is frustrating as our budget is not huge.
  • The limit on 5 team members for the team package is a bit frustrating as well - though there are plenty of collaborators for the price. It's the kindof thing that varies per project and Frame seems to be built for either very small teams or very large teams - but nothing in the middle.
By far Frame is the best video review service out there mainly due to how easy it is to introduce to new users, including on the client side. There is not much instruction required in order to share and edit with a client and ask them to start providing feedback - the system is designed to invite users to give notes and that alone is worth the money.

Frame.io is used for our video team and higher-ups in the marketing department. Anyone that needs to review any of our videos has access to Frame.io. This includes all studio employees, team leads, management, and any faculty that is used as talent per each video.
  • The best part of Frame.io is the ability to have all video edits from different departments on ONE page. Instead of receiving four different emails with timecodes (if we are lucky), I can open my video in Frame.io and see all edits in chronological order from every person involved in giving feedback.
  • I enjoy the fact that not only are the timecodes exactly where they need to be (no guessing if the person meant the second before or after), but anyone reviewing has the ability to draw on the video to make their point more clear. So if someone is wanting an image moved on screen, they can draw a square EXACTLY where they want the placement.
  • Another great perk is the fact that I can add the Frame.io extension to my Premiere file and export the video directly to Frame.io. No need to render out a version and then upload to the website. It minimizes all the steps taken to get the video online and ready for review.
  • There have been a couple of times that the review links I have sent have not worked, and it crashed sitewide. I think Frame.io is still working out some kinks, but when I have a tight deadline it's frustrating getting blamed for a broken link when it's Frame.io's website having a meltdown.
  • I would like to be able to export all the timecoded edits directly to my timeline instead of having to reference the website or extension in Premiere. There may already be a way to have this done, but I haven't seen it or it hasn't been properly explained.
  • It's a mild inconvenience to automatically be signed up to get an email for every single edit that has taken place in my video. I know this is a reach, but there isn't much to complain about when it comes to Frame.io. I had to manually go in and opt out of the hundreds of emails I was getting sent for someone just leaving comments on my upload.
If you work in any type of video department, Frame.io is by far the BEST solution for receiving feedback. Everything is clear, concise and organized to make the process go much quicker. However, I feel like if you don't work with compiling videos directly, this website/app isn't best quite for you.

Frame.io is our video review application of choice. Frame.io allows us to easily present video links for clients and makes the feedback cycle extremely simple for us and our clients.
  • Frame.io provides an intuitive interface for clients to leave detailed feedback on videos they've hired us to produce. Users can leave public or private comments and start and stop on whichever video frames they choose. Users can draw on a frame using a non-destructive marker to make specific feedback (e.g. I don't like that this window is overexposed and is distracting me from looking at the interview). This allows for making nuanced critiques that are otherwise difficult to convey without using screengrabs or long email threads.
  • Frame.io is easy to learn. If a user is new to the application, the software determines this and a short tutorial video pops up and teaches the new user how to interact with the application. It does this without taking the user to a new page and risk confusing a client. The software is simple to use and I never have issues with uninformed or flustered clients because of it.
  • Frame.io makes sharing simple. Producers can send review links within the application or copy and paste the link into an email, whichever their preference. Users can also create live presentations to walk clients through a video as well. I've not used this feature extensively, so I'm unsure of how well it works, but the option is available.
  • Frame.io interacts with video editing software (i.e. After Effects, Premiere Pro) using a plug-in. Before applications like Frame.io, we had to reference emails with timecodes and then decipher what the client is asking to have changed. It was cryptic, and feels archaic in hindsight. Now, the integration between the application and our software is seamless. I can revisit feedback by clicking on a comment in the review window, and it takes me to the exact point of criticism in the timeline. It's so easy to use and saves so much time.
  • Though I love the integration with After Effects, it's a tiny bit buggy from time to time. You'll need to re-sign in once a week (at least, this is what my tests have determined) and there is an issue with timeline jumping. If you click onto a comment, the timeline takes you to the problem area, but if you move the playhead elsewhere and click onto the same comment, it will not return you to the location. You must first click onto a different comment, then back onto the original. It's silly, and to me, a bug that will be resolved eventually.
  • Frame.io does not provide an archiving feature, so it's a bit of sore spot to delete old videos. When running into storage problems, which you might depending on your plan, you'll need to remove old videos.
  • Video links play natively at 560p. I don't understand this, as 720p or 1080p should be the standard playback resolution. This means some clients might not be as technologically-savvy, and won't think to click onto the resolution button to upgrade the resolution playback. I've had clients ask why the video was "low-quality" when they needed to change the resolution. This feels like boneheaded development to me.
Frame.io is without question the best video review application I've worked with. It beats out my time with Wipster and Vimeo easily.

If your business produces videos for clients, you will need some kind of review application and you can't beat Frame.io.
