We use this software for texting, text to give, event registration, and bringing in new member information. The opt-in campaign is likely the hardest part, and that i not to do with the software, but rather getting people to do the simple sign up. For event registration, such as our annual golf tournament, we are able to add graphics to create a great looking platform. The system allows us to capture specific details needed for the event, and to then generate reports for check-in.

We are a church and it fills many gaps for us. Over the years, we have expanded the usage. We are a leader in our industry, and many newer institutions seek guidance from us. Just yesterday, I gave the information about GiveSmart (formerly MobileCause) to a growing ministry. Some parts are very easy to use - mass texts.

We use GiveSmart for the fundraising needs of our nonprofit. We needed a way to make it easier for donors to give to us electronically and to manage recurring sponsors and donors. We also needed help learning how to fundraise and create and foster relationships with those interested in our ministry or currently giving.

The company seems slow to progress with any changes customers ask for. I feel the lack of concern and contact I have had with the company has really left a bad impression on our organization. I contacted our sales rep a couple of years ago with a need, only to find out she had moved to a different position months prior, and we had a new contact. There was never any contact with us to let us know, in my experience, there was never an introduction with the new rep. I have never been able to get ahold of our new rep on the phone, nor has she ever responded to the voicemails I left. I only will get responses by email. We have never had any contact outside of contract renewal time to see if everything is ok, check to see if new features might apply to us. I never get any contact from the company as to new features, or what is happening, all I get are emails about webinars. When I raised concerns we had over a year ago in regards to functionality and things our donors were asking about, in my experience, there was no conversation about if they might implement these needs, if there was a workaround, or if they even took our thoughts as important. In my experience, when they were merging from Mobile Cause to GiveSmart, I kept waiting and being told they were going to have a CRM, which they knew was a HUGE need for us. Months of waiting later, I learn that, in fact, the CRM will not be part of what we have, but a stand-alone product and won't even integrate together. I just constantly shake my head at this company.

The plus side is they make everything very customizable for you, and you are able to make donation pages, events, etc., look, feel, and act like you want them to. In my opinion, that is also the downside. There are a million different places where you have to add text, choose colors, etc. It requires a full-time position to do it all. I am a one-person fundraising team with a full-time job elsewhere. I don't have the time to learn everything. It is just too much for a small organization.

Originally, I chose GiveSmart Events when I was the Executive Director of a nonprofit organization that supports a public school system. We were migrating from another CRM to Salesforce and needed an event platform that could accommodate a variety of event types. GiveSmart was compatible with Salesforce and was easy to learn with responsive support. After retiring, I started a consulting company that support nonprofits and one of my clients asked for a recommendation for an upcoming event. We chose a package that included both GiveSmart Events & Fundraise and I've now used both platforms. It would be great if GiveSmart could merge the two platforms. Fundraise is far more versatile and attractive from a user perspective. Events, however, is your only option for an online silent auction. The support team at GiveSmart is extremely responsive and when we approach them with an issue, it is usually easily resolved or a workaround is suggested. Over the past three years, I have also seen improvements made based on user recommendations.

  • The resources provided online are overwhelming. Would be nice if there was a downloadable reference guide.
  • The video tutorials need to be updated and it would be great if they were "chunked" to take viewers to the section they need, without watching or fast-forwarding through sections that are not needed.
  • Contracts should include some personalized training. It actually might help you "sell" the $200/hour training if people saw how useful it is. It would have been helpful to have someone provide an overview of the features and vocabulary.
  • Calling everyone "users" is confusing. Consider calling staff "users" and everyone else can be donors or guests.
  • It would be helpful to be able to include hyperlinks in the text when creating Fundraisen activity landing pages.
When GiveSmart is integrated with a CRM, it is a great platform for events, crowdfunding, and online fundraising. I have not had the opportunity to use the GiveSmart CRM, but I would imagine it would be a powerful combination to have all three platforms working together seamlessly.

We use GiveSmart for 2 signature events each year and for limited campaigns as well. GiveSmart is easy to use and set up quickly and has yielded strong fundraising results for our organization.

We have been using MobileCause for many years but they merged with GiveSmart about a year ago. The look and feel is still MobileCause so the transition for us was pretty seamless. We use GiveSmart/MobileCause to accept and process online donations for our organization. Potential donors visit our website, click on the "Donate" button and are taken to a web page where they can enter their donation/payment information. We process monthly recurring donations and one-time tributes via this page as well. We will periodically change the form or create a new one to match a solicitation we are sending. We've even themed the form to match an event like a golf tournament or gala.
  • Allows for the donor to easily include the credit card processing fees in their donation.
  • Easy for the donor to enter their information and process their gift quickly.
  • Easy to export information from GiveSmart/MobileCause.
  • When selecting fields for exporting, it would be nice to see the form name attached to the field name. We have multiple forms and some of the field names are the same/similar from form to form. It's almost impossible to tell which field belongs to which form.
  • Since GiveSmart merged with MobileCause, we are having difficulties paying our quarterly fee via credit card. We have signed up for this process a few times but still have issues getting our payments properly (and timely) processed like we did before the merge. (Our payments were automatically processed with MobileCause but it's been difficult, almost impossible, to get this process set-up with GiveSmart, even though they now offer it.)

I can only speak to the MobileCause side, which worked great. Since the merge, things have continued to function well like before, but I noticed the admin side of things (billing, help, etc.) from GiveSmart could be handled better.

I think that they are great for online donation forms, event sign-up forms, and survey forms. They are pretty easy to create and maintain.

We were not very pleased with this platform. Our customer service was greatly lacking, and the platform had multiple glitches and the functionality wasn't up to par with what we were promised. However, the bones of this platform seem great! I think with better customer service and more functional and adaptive platform this could be great.

We use GiveSmart to fundraise through auctions, raffles, merchandise sales, and donation pages. The platforms offers us a sophisticated way to hold auctions during all of our events. GiveSmart offers us the ability to reach a group beyond those who are attending the event. Through September to April, we hold multiple auctions weekly raising ~$3,500 each.

Our organization is nonprofit and we use GiveSmart software for the auction fundraising at our annual Gala event. GiveSmart handles the mobile bidding (silent/live auctions, raffle, wine pull, etc), check in and check out, and paddle raises/fund a need at our event. This software has replaced our need for bid sheets and additional staff at registration and has taken away A LOT of the stress of having to manage these functions on our own. Their support staff is very helpful in helping set up your campaign and in running reports post-event.

We have used GiveSmart for both virtual and in-person events, and it has been highly effective. Givesmart makes our job so much easier! We are able to set up events with silent auction, raffle, tickets sales and more. Everything is streamlined and we can analyze data much faster. For recurring events, we are able to duplicate the campaign which saves time and money. Having everything at our fingertips, in one place makes for an efficient event and appeal process. We love Givesmart!

We have three minimum large fundraising events a year and have used give smart for two. We use all of the bits and pieces for event registration, silent auction and raffle, individual fundraiser profiles, donations, text communication, etc. Like most event registration companies today, givesmart does not provide staff for event registration - but they do have recommendations for companies, one in particular I have enjoyed working with is GOAT (who is an event solutions company) as they really know the system well for event day. Another bummer we have found with givesmart is though the text ad email capabilities with patrons is amazing, their "sending templates" are limited and you cannot include images in the body of your email. These limitations force our company to use other sending platforms like mailchimp.

  • Reporting - Our Data manager has to pull multiple reports to transfer intoo our CRM, versus being able to do one large report

  • Emailing recipients - would like more variety than offered. When saying "ticket holders" you have to send multiple depending on the ticket they hold (ex. different sponsorship levels etc)
Compared to other event platforms, this one has a lot more capability and is very user friendly on the patron side - I hope they continue to develop their backend of things for reports/tracking. They are by far the best platform when it comes to texting and emailing capabilities, meaning they have the least amount of limitations - giving your guests a better experience.

At both organizations where I have used GiveSmart (previously MobileCause), we have GiveSmart for: peer to peer fundraising campaigns including large scale tracking for volunteer solicitors who raise money for us through each year; for do-it-yourself fundraising options like donate your birthday/anniversary/wedding shower or tribute pages; to provide text to give options during in person events; and for virtual events fundraising - especially during the COVID crisis. GiveSmart provides flexibility and permits to empower donors to set up their own fundraisers on our behalf. It provides great tracking of progress to goals and the interface for reporting is easy to us.

  • Peer to Peer fundraising - provides great options for peer to peer campaigns including the ability to record off line gifts to individual fundraisers or teams.
  • Events Management - GiveSmart gave us the flexibility to switch many of our event activities to virtual experiences during the COVID crisis which we greatly appreciated and have continued to use for some of our smaller events.

We use GiveSmart to run our fundraising events! Mainly, our Golf Outing and Annual Gala. Through GiveSmart, we are able to sell tickets for the event, raffle prizes, and auction items. It is convenient for everything to be in one place, on one platform. On the user side, it is very easy to use and intuitive, which is important for some of our older donors.

We really love using GiveSmart for our Golf Outing. We simply need a place to allow people to buy tickets, raffle tickets, and find more information. It provides us with just enough customization to make it easy on everyone. For our Gala, we have a few more ticket items and options when it comes to checking out and completing purchase. For this event, it would be nice for the user site to have more customization and the ability to edit their cart if they make a mistake or change their mind. As of now, an admin has to manually edit their cart to remove an item, which frustrates donors.

We planned to use GiveSmart as our primary fundraising site. However, we find that for our purposes it is not the best fit. We were not even able to get the minimum return on our investment (we lost funds) and therefore this did not fit our needs in the way that we had projected. Once we received the primary contact for our company, the support was great. But from a fundraising standpoint, it was not good. Initial setup and having a reliable contact with GiveSmart was a nightmare. We went through two or three contacts before our final contact was made. The final contact (Corey) was WONDERFUL. He was the one bright spot in this entire process.

The GiveSmart auction platform is so user friendly. It took me no time at all to complete our auction and upload it. The customer service is AMAZING. The one gripe we have had is that the emails to our staff when donations come in are not super streamlined. There are emails for texting, events, donations, etc. and it is hard to get them to the appropriate staff.

As a nonprofit with a small staff, GiveSmart has allowed us to build out a much larger fundraising platform, particularly for events and auctions. It saves time for us to be able to receive gifts, communicate with donors, acknowledge gifts, and even text message in real time during events. GiveSmart allows us to add "buy it now" features during our live events, creates ways for guests to make gifts, bid on auction items, and get important messages timed to the minute of our program. It is intuitive to use and allows us to manage our volunteers as well, providing them also with bid numbers and thanking them for service with the push of a button. The customer service is quick and kind, thoroughly answering our questions. GiveSmart is an excellent tool for our small non-profit and worth every penny, many times over.

The funds raised support our students and teachers. From silent to live auctions, GiveSmart improves the way that we raise funds for our greatest assets.

We use give smart in partner with Second Chance Charity of Palm Harbor. It makes creating events, especially virtually, much easier. We are able to create a landing site and make it branded to us pretty easily. We can then send the link out to anyone who would be attending or make it public and share publicly. This ensures ease of access and use for everyone involved when we are fundraising. Then we can even add what we raised in person to our totals. It is a great tool to use if you want a platform to host your event and be able to raise money online.<br><br>My only real dislike was we were told we could host a raffle via the platform but that is only partially true. You can host a raffle if you live stream or use a website that does the random picking-- we were under the impression the platform itself could do that and it doesn't, though it does have a nice way to keep track of and present the raffle prizes and allow for people to buy tickets easily.<br> We have truly enjoyed our experience with GiveSmart.<br>

We use Givesmart to host our annual fundraising dinner that includes a silent auction. The platform gives us the ability to house all of the ticket sales and auction items in one location.

Easy to use on the patron side, a lot more technical opportunities for event promotion, event site is lovely.

  • The Data pulled from GiveSmart is not ideal - when running reports, our data, and analytics manager have to run several different reports and cross-compare to enter them into our donor database.
  • Not able to turn off "check-in," which confuses guests at registration - if they check in an hour or less before the event, and there is maybe a bid paddle involved, they get confused on where to go/why they have to wait.
  • In addition to the "check-in," there is an extra step patron have to take that doesn't seem very clear. A lot of guests will add their credit card information, but the system will not consider them checked in unless they do an extra step. Causes some confusion at registration for events.
  • Even if marked that guests must add a CC, somehow guests can check-in without adding - which is concerning.
It is an amazing microsite/event site that you can customize to match your event and have all the information needed. An issue is that you can't have mobile bidding to just event attendees; technically, anyone can go onto your event site and bid if they see it is open, and you can "hide" the items however that defeats the purpose of the ease in mobile bidding. The check-in confusion was a setback in our recent event and confused a lot of guests.

We use it as our online donation platform and peer-to-peer fundraising. We just started using it a few months ago, but we were looking for a product that would help us streamline online donations, make it easier to people to donate from their phones, and set up fundraisers on their own.
  • User friendly to set up.
  • Easy for outsiders to set up their own fundraising pages.
  • Clear pricing structure.
  • "Designers" for fundraising pages are not very helpful-it seems they do not have any actual design experience or ability to really customize pages.
  • Need more customization on fundraising pages.
  • Lower credit card fees.
Great for sending up fundraising pages and having multiple for different campaigns. Great for campaigns like Giving Tuesday. Not as much customization as desired.

We use GiveSmart for various fundraising events across our 11 school districts. We appreciate the ease of use, quick payment, and easy reconciliation. We currently have five events that we are using the application to support.
  • Selling Admissions.
  • Creating an Event Website.
  • Item / Package Maintenance.
  • User / Donor Management.
  • A portal for prospective donors / outgoing solicitations.
It is incredibly easy to use, and the training/help that is provided is just what is needed. It is very easy for me to train new admins, and they are able to train their users quickly.
