We are utilizing GoGuardian Admin for filtering students on the internet. GoGuardian Admin allows me to delegate certain admins to control certain organizational units and only those. The building administrators can block or unblock websites without my assistance. Additionally, they can easily see student history. They have started to use the parent reports during student-parent meetings to help illustrate what the student is doing during the day. We currently do no have any of the parent features enabled, though.

GoGuardian Admin has been leading the way in content filtering for both on and off site with an easy-to-use interface. At the time, it was one of the first to offer cloud-based off-site filtering for Chromebooks. They continue to grow and provide new features every year with great tutorials and updates.

Powerful all-in-one solution for your business.
We have used GoGuardian for a handful of implementations—student device monitoring, web filtering and monitoring, and network filtering. We have tried out a few different companies and solutions in the past years and the end goal is to find one company/product that can do it all.
- Cloud filtering assures we don't need to maintain our own server.
- Nice monitoring dashboard.
- UI is still not perfect but is useable.
- Reports are not always as specific as we'd like.

Not sure if WatchGuard has student monitoring in place yet, but they didn't when we were using them, so we needed to use another product alongside it. GoGuardian Admin is nice because it's all accessible from one single interface.

Go Guardian is Cloud Filtering Made Easy
We use GoGuardian Admin across our whole organization. The Admin portion is the interface piece that allows you to make content policy changes in the GoGuardian Admin filtering software. Since GoGuardian Admin is a cloud filtering solution, we use it to filter devices both on-premises and off-campus. This makes it incredibly easy for users to make that transition without changing settings or being inconvenienced. We use it for Chrome OS devices only. They have since added the ability to use the software for Windows machines. This is not something we have taken advantage of at this time.
- The reporting Dashboard page gives you a great picture of what your users are doing on the internet.
- The Theft recovery piece works very well and helps recover devices that are missing in action.
- The reports are almost too broad.
- Intuitive things like clicking on a URL in the top-visited section does not drill down into who was visiting that website.
- It has allowed us to deploy thousands of devices for home and on-premises use successfully. Without this cloud filtering, we would be stuck.
- The theft recovery piece has allowed us to get our assets back from students that have left the district or that have misused them.
When we were first looking for a cloud filtering solution, there were not many competitors out there. We looked at Securly, but at the time, they did not match up. GoGuardian Admin had far more features (that would benefit us) at that time. I know there are more solutions available now, but I have not looked into any recently. The elements of GoGuardian Admin that seemed to stand out were the Youtube filter, the Teacher classroom management piece, and the Theft Recovery. Over time I believe they scaled back the Theft Recovery piece due to privacy concerns, but it still functions very well.

GoGuardian is worth it
We use GoGuardian to monitor student activities on our school network. It can blacklist and whitelist sites to manage student access to content as well as the location of devices. Filtering is effective, and working in conjunction with the teacher product helps to keep our students on task.
