We are using GoodData as a visualization and analytics tool to allow our clients to gather valuable information across a number of disparate data sources.
  • Provides easy linking of disparate data sources that typically would be very difficult to analyze in any meaningful way.
  • Ease of design. You don't have to have extensive knowledge of the product to be able to design attractive and powerful reports, dashboards, etc.
  • Easy to integrate into custom applications. Whether it be i-framing or white label, GoodData provides an easy solution for integrating dashboards into your applications.
  • Limited customization options for report/dashboards design. You are kind of locked in to their chart color options, placement of certain element (i.e. chart legend), etc.
  • No intuitive way to handle fiscal year calendars. A custom solution needs to be built in order to handle variable fiscal calendars.
  • Learning MAQL programming language is necessary to be able to use the product meaningfully.
GoodData is appropriate for any organizations struggling with bridging gaps between multiple disparate data sources. Using GoodData provides those organizations all the tools necessary to build value added insights for both internal and external customers. It would be less appropriate for those wanting to build highly customizable reports features as there's not a lot of freedom in design.

  • SQL Server Reporting Services
SQL Server Reporting Services is great for building reports and informational tools for an organization using shared and/or relational data sources. Due to the nature of our business, we needed the ability to tie together multiple non-shared or relational data sources. GoodData provides all the necessary back-end and front-end tools in order to meet those needs.
  • Salesforce
  • Excel
  • Microsoft SQL Server
We use GoodData bricks to schedule and pull data from a variety of data sources and services. The process is streamlined, especially with the help of their professional services team. I would say on a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being extremely easy), integration with our required data sources and services would be an 8.
  • REST
  • GSuite
  • Zendesk
To my knowledge, GoodData supports integration into all of these systems. We just haven't had the need or taken the next steps to integrate. We look forward to working on these integrations in the near future as our experience with other integrations has been successful.
  • File import/export
  • Single Signon
  • ETL tools
The only reason I would give it a rating of an 8 over a 9 or 10 would be the need for some additional help from their professional services to get the most out of the integrations. I think we could have achieved them on our own, but it's really worth the time savings and effort to work with their dedicated team on a successful integration.
Depending on the experience and knowledge of your internal development teams, I would highly advise at least getting some consulting from GoodData professional services for any work or integrations you plan to do. I don't think we would have been as successful using the product without it. If you have a team experienced with GoodData, perhaps it's a step you can skip, but for less experienced teams, it's the route to go.
Initially we had limited resources and time to put toward implementing GoodData into our existing systems. By enlisting their professional services team and associated support staff, we were able to get up in running in much less time. There was never an issue getting an experienced support agent involved whenever we were experiencing issues.
Yes, as I indicated in a previous response, we did not have the time or development resources to throw at the initial implementation of the GoodData product. Therefore, we put our trust in their expert staff to get us up and running a fraction of the time it would have taken with our own development staff that hadn't used the product before.
No
Even when we were up and running and our systems were running smoothly with the GoodData product implemented, the support team was very good at maintaining the relationship and following up to see if our needs continued to be met. Through discussions with their professional services and support team, we were able to tap into some additional features that we may not have if the support team wasn't as interested in our success as they were.

  • We helped a technology client of ours evaluate and implement GoodData. Our client was spending several hours each week exporting data from Salesforce and/or manually inputting Salesforce data into spreadsheets to track historical pipeline by region, product and opportunity stage. Our client was also trying to analyze sales stage velocity to understand what the best practice stage duration was for closed won opportunities. Our client also wanted to understand sales rep behavior.
  • GoodData allows our client to track changes in pipeline with detailed graphs and charts. You can analyze across dimensions, including regions, products and stages. You can set indicators, such as sales management targets, to measure performance. You can correlate sales rep behavior (ex. activities) to rep performance (ex. closed-won opps).
  • Integration to Salesforce data was very simple, although it does require a Salesforce user license.
  • This is not a real time data flow. We scheduled an automatic daily refresh from Salesforce to GoodData though.
  • One of the benefits of GoodData is that it snapshots the Salesforce data. Unfortunately, you cannot load historical Salesforce data and expect to take advantage of the "Changes in Pipeline" capabilities day 1. This is not a deficiency of GoodData, as much as I am just trying to set expectations that it will take some time to benefit from these capabilities.
  • Our client is saving at least 6 hours per week from manual data entry and analysis.
  • Improved forecasting.
  • Improved sales rep and opportunity activity analysis.
GoodData provides the metrics/reports that we were told it would provide. It is meeting the client's expectations at a reasonable price point.

  • Our client is using it for sales analysis - across regions, sales reps and products.
  • Our client is using it to answer questions like 1) How is the pipeline progressing through the quarter? 2) Are we likely to meet our numbers based on the current pipeline breakdown? It is challenging within basic Salesforce reporting to monitor changes in the pipeline. GoodData help them understand what happened to the pipeline from the beginning of the month to the end of the month. Answers questions like - Which deals had a closed date that pushed to the following month? What opportunities increased/decreased in value?
  • Helps our client see how opportunities created flow through the different stages and where are the major drop offs. By looking at the created to won conversion rate you get a better understanding of how many new opportunities you will need in the future to meet your targets. Also helps you understand sales velocity.
  • Helps you understand which sales rep activities drive opportunity creation and which close deals. Analyzes which sales activities win deals. Compares specific rep activities levels to averages.
Exporting data from Salesforce into Microsoft Excel. Manual data entry.
Birst, which had comparable functionality. We chose GoodData based on ease-of-use and price.
  • Professional services company
GoodData provided a technical implementation partner. We served as the Salesforce experts and business requirements main point of contact for our client. Our client's controller was involved and also ensured the Exec teams' operational requirements were addressed.
Thorough, professional and on time.
  • Online training
  • Self-taught
GoodData implementation team was professional and courteous.
Yes. Some admin training would be helpful though.

During the one outage we were clearly communicated to that there was an issue, and that support was working to resolve it. The issue was resolved within an hour.
Each graph/report is defined on the dashboard, which makes it easier to understand what you're analyzing. Another simple example - we changed the standard metric of Region by User to our Region by Account in less than 10 minutes.
We are approximately one month since go-live. There has been one short outage.
Performance on refreshing metrics works well.
  • Salesforce.com
Integration was done using the Salesforce api. It was as simple as setting up a Salesforce user account and then having the implementer use that account to log into Salesforce.
