If we were to directly survey or evaluate a customer, I think we would use Qualtrics as it really finds out the customer interests. I find with Google Analytics, this is used JUST for web searches and anything that is conducted online. We would really like to see more detailed information from Google.

KISSmetrics is best suited for instrumenting specific conversion funnels and looking at individual user behaviors. This type of by-user analysis is impossible with Google Analytics, which is understandable given the amount of data storage that would be required (for a free product!). Ultimately the tradeoff for us was that aggregate statistics along multiple dimensions was 'good enough', though we may revisit KISSmetrics [or Mixpanel or another similar solution] in the future. I don't see them as mutually exclusive. But given our time constraints and desire to deal with only one solution, we went with Google Analytics.

We wanted to try out a new program as IBM analytics was a bit pricey and our company has been trying to cut in areas of our budget in order to provide service for recent hurricane claims and to upgrade offices in the Northeast. This was a good solution to the budget issue, but it's still a new implementation.

A sub-domain of our site is on WordPress. Google Analytics provides much more information on visitors than the WordPress tool's has available. We're able to incorporate both sites in out data with ease to measure the success of both sites as the WordPress site provides great deal of our back links to drive our main sales site.

Coremetrics offered better support to the admins, but the data was unclear and often misleading. Site catalyst is difficult to use and has a high barrier to entry. Google analytics is a better data platform, with a better user interface, but they are lacking in the support like IBM offered from Coremetrics. Still, I would choose Google over IBM any day, and I don't see that changing.

Realistically, Google Analytics is in a class of its own. While there are competitors in the space, none are really worth mentioning in comparison. Analytics has every single tool a webmaster could need to effectively track website visitors' behaviors and origination, wrapped up in an extremely easy to use interface.

Many of our clients use both GA and Adobe Analytics. At the core GA is much simpler to use and set up, and definitely worth it if it's a small site/doesn't get a TON of traffic. Adobe Analytics however gives more robust and granular data, but is a bit complicated to set up and read the data in.

Google Analytics is plausible for tracking the number of users visiting the areas of the site. It is also well suited for mobile applications and figuring out how many impressions there are. It is perfect for our marketing department where we want to track the website traffic as it helps us identify the lead behaviors which in turn helps us convert the prospects to lead and further to customer.

I like Google Analytics better than Adobe Analytics because it has a much better user interface. It is easier to use and is easier to set up reports. While these two can be used hand-in-hand I would prefer only using Google Analytics because I find that it is easier to find the results that I am looking for.

Mixpanel and Kissmetrics are good systems, and for the most part they can do the same thing that GA does, but they are more basic. If an average person, if you don't have a desire for deep data, I think these two platforms are better choices.

Google Analytics provides a more comprehensive set of data when it comes to website analytics and it is free. While Alexa will cost you an amount to view the full data it provides, it still simply does not provide the necessary data you need to analyze and customize your website content as well as digital advertisement.

A vendor that I had once worked with, Siteimprove, had an analytics tool that was very similar to GA. I used it a few times, but it didn't seem better to me than GA --which I already knew -- so I didn't see a need to learn a different tool.
