Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

Google Analytics is suited for any business of any size that wants to gain insights into their website traffic and data. Any company could find value in the information that is provided by Google Analytics. We are a small company, but I've worked for larger companies where this can be the case as well. Especially if you have access to the Premium version, it can be even more valuable.

I honestly believe that anyone who has a website should have Google Analytics installed. I don't care if you are a multimillion-dollar company or a blogger who is just getting started, Google Analytics can provide you with some valuable data that can be used over the lifetime of your website.

Google Analytics is well suited when you are looking for a high-quality web analytics platform. Through a really basic integration (1 line of code) it is possible to get a very feature-rich web analytics platform that allows you to analyze, interrogate and report on your web activity. One thing holding it back is if you need to see activity, at the level of the individual, Google Analytics is not well suited for this.

It is super easy to get all the website views and conversion rates. It helps us figure out the areas that are doing well and areas that need to be improved. It doesn't help detect broken links or anything but it does a great job of tracking the flow of data.

We use Google Analytics every day to track everything about our website users. From what source each person comes from, to all of the demographics about each user. We then take it a step further to see what "user" is buying our product and then replicate that customer in targeting new business.

I typically recommend Google Analytics Premium or Google 360 to clients, especially at an Enterprise level. For small businesses or fledgling eCommerce sites, Google Analytics (standard) is just fine.

For a free tool where you can see everything, from where traffic is coming to how they are interacting on your website, it's the best! Everyone should go through some hours (spaced out) and learn more about Google Analytics and make it work for their business.

Google Analytics is a must-have if you have a website, let alone if your performance depends on traffic, user, and other related metrics. As a media company, we must know what type of contents perform best so we can produce more or focus on boosting the content to satisfy our readers and reach more readers. However, focusing on pageviews alone can be misleading as sometimes pageviews do not translate to conversion (registered users and paid subscribers), hence the need to see other metrics such as user counts, pages per session, and time spent. In the three years of working in national media, I've witnessed multiple times when important reports are not being read, as shown by analytics, but this does not mean that we should not do a follow up, it just means that the social media team has to work harder in pushing the news to more audience.

Google Analytics is more suitable for small and medium-sized companies with a limited analytics budget. It can be very easily installed and managed with little IT support. Large companies (Like Fortune 500 size) would be better using a more robust solution like Adobe Analytics.

Very suitable for collecting data on a specific webpage. For example, we try to see what the departments we have at the school that the students visit most. From there we can collect data and know how to improve and promote other departments. Very useful for targeting our marketing campaigns.

Need some free quick and dirty data on your web-based project? Plug it in and get some idea. If you have a lot of e-comm requirements for analytics, I would not recommend it. It requires a lot of setup for that to work well. If you are using Tag manager it's probably a good fit as well, but most other analytics platforms have integrations there also.

Google Analytics is well suited for smaller companies and individuals who are looking to get basic analytic info for their website. Because you can run even basic GA for free, it is a very nice option for those who don't have a large budget and/or don't want to invest in long-term commitments or contracts with other analytics tools. If you are a large corporation that needs advanced data or integration with other tools you use, you may want to look at other products.

Google Analytics is essential for web sites used to generate traffic and leads, especially with the free version, as there is no excuse not to use it as it provides invaluable information for your online properties. However, for web sites that do not serve such a purpose and are merely there to display information and not generate leads, it would not be necessary.

GA is best suited for high-level data pulls for marketing teams (e.g. how many visitors are hitting our site every day, how many products are we selling every month, what are people most frequently clicking on our site). It's not as great if you're trying to start and/or develop a testing program.

Google Analytics is perfect for anyone looking for analytics for their website. It provides traffic information, demographic analysis, conversion analytics, user behaviors, audience, geographic information, etc. Everything you need to analyze to get more traffic to the site through SEO keywords and marketing analysis. Additionally, there's benchmarking, cross-device analysis, and everything you need to get started to get more traffic!

Well suited for a medium to large scale retail brand creating an e-commerce site for the first time who has large enough database to launch and some knowledge of how to handle big data (beginner/intermediate level on digital performance).

Not well suited for a small company/store who does not have enough data. If you have no expertise in setting up APIs or integrations, you will not be able to unlock the full potential of Google Analytics or will only be able to see the surface.

It’s great for a high level overview of how certain parts of your business are performing. If you’re looking to dive deeper, you certainly can but it gets a little trickier to see data in that format. It does a great job at giving you a “state of the union” if you will.

We really like a few things that Google Analytics provides us.
1. How customers search for our business: the options include a direct search, discovery search, and brand search. We do a good mix of the first two, but all improve our branding.
2. What kind of queries people use to find us: I am amazed at what they type in and how we come up as a match. This might need a little improvement.
3. Where customers view us, on the web in a search versus a listing on a map: This is ok and could use some work. I particularly like the finding us on a map and giving the exact direction.
4. What actions do potential customers take: Do they call? Do they ask for directions? Or do they visit the website? We seem to have a good mix here too.

You have to have site analytics. GA does a great job supplying the metrics most people need. Plus, there are integrations that allow it to be even more powerful. It's a must. However, if you are tracking e-commerce, I would suggest upgrading from GA to another offering.

Google Analytics is a very solid tool. It is appropriate for web sites of zero to moderate size -- after some tens of thousands of events or visitors in a short period they can subject you to sampling. So if you're running a Top 100 website with millions of visitors another larger solution is probably better for you. But if you're just starting out or dealing with tens or a few hundreds of thousands of monthly uniques and a relatively straightforward site structure and set of events [which is 99% of us] then Google Analytics is a great tool. Especially given that it's free!
