We evaluated Wildfire before it was folded into Google's larger adtech business, mainly for community management and post scheduling.
  • Content scheduling on FB, TW, and PIN
  • Social media management
  • Basic analytics of post engagmemt
  • Detailed analytics and reporting, integrating with Facebook insights
  • Overlay with Google Analytics data to see connection between engagement and site traffic
When Wildfire existed as a standalone service (before its integration with Google marketing), it was an adequate social media marketing tool which allowed for the management of content across pages and basic analytics, but that functionality became obsolete when other players like Sprout, Falcon, and TweetDeck came into the market and did it better.
  • As with any social media management tool, there is a savings on labor hours (rather than doing the manual work)
  • Aggregating all content into one system creates efficiencies for content teams
Wildfire was a merely an adequate social media tool when it existed as a standalone, but it just couldn't compete against other players like Sprout, Falcon, and Sprinklr.

  • Facebook tab implementation. Allows you to easily create and produce functioning social tabs on your brands FB page.
  • Add voting, sweepstakes, poll functionality to your website. Easily implement these campaigns to increase user engagement and TOS.
  • Difficult to customize graphic additions.
  • Overall templates felt very 'boxy' instead of personalized and trendy.
  • Our TOS and engagement with our fans increased when implementing this.
  • Social metrics Wildfire provided for the different brands allowed sales opportunity to increase social worth and ultimately increase cost on advertising initiatives.
Fantastic for users in need of template functionality for their social channels or website. Not needed for me now as I have a dedicated team to build completely custom apps for clients.
  • Helps brands create social media sweepstakes, contests, apps, etc. at lowcost compared to hiring agency. Beneficial for brands just diving into social strategy.
Picked Wildfire as it was the easiest to use and had the highest functionality. The customer service team was also very hands on and helpful.
  • Implemented in-house
Simple to use and very effective in increasing user engagement on both social channels and website. Noticeably helped raise TOS.
  • Online training
  • Self-taught
Simple process. I taught myself. If you're technically literate, you can utilize this product with little to no training.
No
Not needed. Google customer service is always supreme, no need to have advanced support.
Phone and email support were always available to us when we needed it.

  • Builds Promotional Pages/Tabs Easy.
  • Allows you to make changes within seconds.
  • Tracks social media performance on Facebook, Twitter and Google+
  • Responsive customer service.
  • Great idea generators, will feed you with examples/case studies.
  • More customization - Would like to have the ability to edit more without coding.
  • Consumer engagement per dollar invested.
  • Virality of content per dollar invested.
  • Sentiment data values per dollar invested.
If they are to introduce new additions to the software (which is highly likely), I will certainly renew.
I very much enjoy the Wildfire team and what the software offers. I do recommend this to companies who implement a full social media team/strategy and want a more comprehensive promotional platform.

Direct to Consumer and Social Media.

I am the in-house manager of this software. I have a coordinator who helps every so often, but does not use the software as extensively as me.
I was not on a previous software package.
The other service I attended to was Social Candy. I picked Wildfire due to the customer support, ease of use of the software and because I was able to make changes on my own.
  • Implemented in-house
Very easy to bring on board. Only a few people have access to this software, but I manage the overall activity and building.
  • Online training
  • Self-taught
Gave me a thorough rundown on everything the software does. Sometimes it is difficult to run through it all over the phone/internet, but I was able to figure it out myself.
Yes, this product was easy to learn. I would recommend this approach to others if they are familiar with the back end of website plug-ins.
I needed to plug in my own art work, but am not advanced enough for code.
No
For our purposes, we do not need a agency representative from Wildfire.
Great and responsive customer service. Was unable to address my Google+ Hangout plug-in, but that was a very minor project I wanted to implement.
Very easy to use, almost anyone can learn how to build a comprehensive promotion.
I have never been kicked out of Wildfire service. Always up and running.
Easy to perform tasks and quick to upload changes to your promotions.
  • Social Monitoring Platforms (i.e. Hootsuite).
  • Social Data Platforms (i.e. Vintank).
I am not sure.
Extremely easy to work with before and after post-sales. Interaction with the current support has been a little low.
I contracted for a year. I would definitely recommend negotiating the price to the full extent as this is quite expensive to have.

  • Wildfire is excellent at creating a self service promotion in social. From concept to final product can be achieved in under 20 minutes.
  • Wildfire offers a variety of contest entry methods, including essay, photo and simple sweeps, along with good customization on entry forms.
  • The entire product is quite dated - in our two years with the product, only the visuals have been updated. While other products have added things like multi-platform entries, Wildfire is essentially the same as it has been since our first experience with it.
  • In its self-service mode, the product lacks some essential features like mandatory likes and white label.
  • Embedding a whitelabel contest is a major undertaking, and requires quite a bit of work within the Facebook developer panel.
  • As with all sweeps and contests, we are looking for new fanpage likes and a good number of entries from new fans. We always measure the number of new fans and value of the prize package.
Our initial contract with Wildfire Whitelabel was for $30,000/year, as we progressed we found several alternatives for significantly less. We used this to our advantage to lower the second year to $17,000 with the limitation in the level of support (they call this their "core" subscription). Support has been quite bad. During our contract, we also asked for quotes on some custom work, but never managed to get an answer (or actual quote). Now two years into our contract, the limitations and lack of development are enough for us to find a different solution. Newcomers to the market like Rafflecopter, WooBox and PunchTab are delivering much better results for a fraction of the price.
The transition to Google has been painful - key contacts are no longer available.
