Greenhouse is used to manage job applications and the hiring process. It allows us to see who has applied for a job at the company, whether or not we have reached out to that person. Once an interview is scheduled, we can take notes on the interview and share them with the rest of the team.
  • Clearly being able to see where an applicant is in the interview process
  • Visibility into applicants for a positions
  • Isolation of candidates info to relevant teams.
Cons
  • Notifications are something that greenhouse could do better with - it would be nice to give users some control over how much they want to be notified about.
  • Ratings are a bit confusing as it does not bring all the evaluators at the same starting point.
  • Allow users to use some structure for grading.
It is a leading product in its field. It has numerous features and really makes the hiring process much more transparent. It integrates with Workday which is amazing. Migration to the software is overwhelming, but once that is done, the benefits are numerous. You can track an applicant throughout the process and even identify trends for improvement.

We use it for recruiting process from application submission to making an offer to hire.
We use the function of "Reviewing candidate/ Scheduling interviews/ Notifying the result/ Communication tool with the candidate / keeping candidate's interview scorecard/ Creating and sending out the offer package to the candidates and tracking the information and history between various recruiter teams.
  • able to direct message to candidate
  • can create various templates to communicate internally and externally
  • able to see full history between company & candidate
Cons
  • automatic merge of candidate via email address
  • not 100% accurate data report
If your company have more than 1 recruiting team, I recommend Greenhouse to cut the time to track the recruiting status and share the candidate information & history.

Greenhouse is being used for recruitment purposes, we store all the candidates' data (such as resumes, reviews of the assessments). Candidates can apply through Greenhouse to our company, the application will create a user [record] for them. They will be able to attach a CV and a cover letter. The hiring crew can comment as well as reject or promote the candidate in the app, and finally, they can rate each assessment.

  • Easy to find applicants.
  • Easy to create templates for emails.
  • Very user friendly, easy to find candidates for first time users!
Cons
  • Hard to find cons, no photos?
  • No app?
Greenhouse does EVERYTHING you could want an ATS to do. It is also extremely user friendly! The user experience is second to none. Plus! You get your very own account manager to answer any questions you may have. They even come do demos for your hiring managers or HR team! Judge the systems based on initial ease of use. If you can work basic applications Greenhouse will come very naturally to you!

Our company uses Greenhouse for the hiring process: putting up job listings, receiving and storing candidate application materials, and gathering employee feedback after interviews. Because many of our employees work cross-departmentally, and because overall culture fit is such a priority here, many people across the organization conduct interviews (not just HR and managers) and therefore have access to Greenhouse.
  • Greenhouse job listings look neat and are very user-friendly. As an applicant, I always appreciated that Greenhouse job listings looked uniform, contained all the information I needed, and made applications simple. This is helpful on the other side of the hiring process too.
  • I really like the dashboard. It's clean and makes it super easy to make referrals, see upcoming interviews, and view/share jobs.
  • The interview scorecards are great. Thorough without taking too much time to fill out, and strikes the right balance of structure (yes/no questions, number ratings, etc.) and open-endedness (short answers).
Cons
  • It would be great if I could save/access interview questions within Greenhouse. (Perhaps this is possible and just not a feature available to me.) Currently, I keep questions in a Google Doc and have to coordinate with other interviewers to ensure that we ask the right spread of questions.
  • Although I am not an admin user and don't play a role in maintaining this software, I've heard from our HR department that it's somewhat pricy and not an especially affordable tool.
  • A nice-to-have: the ability to log in and check the status of your application as a candidate. The silence/darkness on the other side can be discouraging and stressful.
Greenhouse seems like a great option for just about any company. Even if your organization is very small, it can be difficult to maintain consistency across interviews and eliminate as much bias as possible. Greenhouse is wonderful for organizing applicant info, putting up jobs, managing referrals, and judging candidates post-interview in a fair way. The only thing I can think of is that Greenhouse isn't cheap, especially as you add more users, so perhaps organizations on a budget would look for alternatives.
