I think it's great. Stable. Many functionalities, virtually all of desktop version. Do not suck battery much, even working in background. Again, respect to developers of HipChat mobile version, you guys made perfect work, really. I very pleased to use Atlassian ecosystem as well, instead of a bunch of other competitors' apps, with many integration problems, hangons, and so on.

It crashes a lot when trying to share pictures. Notifications come in and when I go to the app, there is no indication of who it's from. I have to check the email notification. It's a hassle. Overall, it's useful, but the notices from hipchat + email notices come in simultaneously and it's a bit much, especially when the app acts like no new message is there.

The UI used to be confusing to navigate, however they have done many improvements since it initially came out and it's much easier to understand how it works. However they still need to make some more improvements to it, as I still get users asking me how to navigate inside the app.

The mobile app gets messages remotely; it does the job but it is not particularly jazzy in any way. There is one drawback, the mobile app does take a while to load and doesn't readily open. Also the UI could be simpler and easier to search for different co-workers and rooms. If there was permanent sign-in that would be helpful too instead of missing messages since the mobile app isn't opened.

used both.
I liked them both, both as soon as my phone goes to sleep, I look away on hipchat, and then get a notice via email that someone sent me a message, but I wasn't there, although the app was on but phone went on sleep mode.

The mobile app has come along way in terms of performance and notification consistency. For iOS specifically I use it heavily anytime I am not at my computer and even outside of typical working hours if immediate communication with a coworker(s) is required.

Mobile app is great. Let's me step out of the office and go for a bike ride. If something comes up I can immediately answer quickly. Using the app, the person on the desktop see a mobile icon to let them know that the user answered from a phone and not computer. Mobile app is a must for today's teams.

Notifications don't work on my Nexus 6P running Android 6.0...there are several apps that have issues with notifications, so while the app is convenient, I miss out on discussions because I can't respond in a timely fashion.
