Our talent team uses HireVue as a screening phase in our selection process. Typically this will fall after the initial resume and cover letter screen, and before the in-person interview at our home office. We've had a ton of success in raising the floor for folks that we bring in to the office and use Hirevue for nearly all of our job openings.
  • The user experience is super intuitive and easy to access for members across the organization. You don't need a whole lot of training, and HireVue tees up everything you need to evaluate candidates.
  • Openshare! We love being able to blast out links to multiple candidates at a time.
  • Interview set up is straightforward and hardly takes any time at all.
  • Interview questions! Once these are set, there's not an option to add/delete/modify questions. Instead of having to create an entirely new interview, it would be nice to have the option of adding to current interviews.
  • Tracking candidates- would like to see a function to update candidate statuses
HireVue is great for initial screens when you have a massive amount of candidates and not enough time to connect with each and every one over the phone. It's also great for more technical openings due to the option of adding text. We like to build in mini performance tasks to assess through process and writing ability for most of our roles - something that is difficult to do over the phone!

  • Customer service is excellent, if candidates, or myself are having technical issues, HireVue is always very helpful.

I think HireVue is a great tool to use in selection of candidates, number one because we are able to see how they present themselves, and if they can do so professionally. It is also a great tool to see how well they handle using fairly new technology.

I used HireVue when I was applying for a Nike internship. It was used as the second round interview. It was a little intimidating being recorded and not having much planning time to answer the questions. Now that I am on the recruiting side at Nike I think it is very helpful to be able to see the candidates in the video, their personality, etc.

  • Saves a lot of time for recruiters--rather than having Skype interviews with 100+ candidates, I can view 30-60 second clips of each candidate to give me a better feeling of who the candidate is.
  • Allow more time for the candidate to plan their answer before it starts recording.
I think it is appropriate for an intern or entry level position, however as the position gets higher, I wouldn't use HireVue. At that point, you would fly the candidate out to campus to interview.

Currently New Visions for Public Schools uses HireVue to interview candidates for potential opportunities across our organization. Members of the Talent Acquisition Team are primarily the users of HireVue for teacher hiring. Other internal hiring managers use it as well for positions on their team. HireVue helps us with the large quantity of interviews we need to perform.

  • HireVue alerts team members when interviews have been completed and allows various assignments so the workload is distributed across the team.

We use HireVue for the phone interview process for our selection process. It is mostly used by our recruitment team but is available for hiring new staff as well. Our program is looking to recruit and retain hundreds of teachers. It helps manage multiple interviews at the same time. We now don't need to schedule times in our days to schedule a phone interview. Instead, if we have a break in the day, we can watch a few interviews. We also can have multiple people watch interviews for candidates we might be on the fence on. It's been an incredibly more convenient process for our team to manage interviews on top of recruiting.
  • The support team is always available and can help solve problems quickly.
  • Set up is simple. It allows photos, questions, and works with you if you want to add other features.
  • Takes feedback and makes changes with their clients.
  • Sometimes I do feel restricted in ways of scoring. We have to have 5 stars, when we'd rather do a 1-4 scoring.
  • It's hard to add something unless HireVue already has created it. Since we have multiple staff members scoring for our team, if we wanted to add an overall question or writing score, it's tricky to add and make sure our team is doing it.
  • Our candidates have to get an email from HireVue when I'd love for it to still come from our organization and HireVue helps support that work. Because of this, our candidates need two separate emails.

HireVue has been exceptional for us. We can speed up the hiring process, and we can get to the candidates that best fit much quicker and cheaper. Our managers find it easy to use and they are also singing the praises of this technology. We made a few adjustments on the scoring function to make it easier and that has also helped.

  • It shows respect for the candidate's time as well.
  • The initial set up of scoring requires a score per each question. Often, it is not worth even viewing more than one question on some candidates.
  • Would like a more intuitive way to tape questions for new templates.
  • Would like suggested questions by function.
HireVue works very well for college recruiting and mid level recruiting. It is a bit of a challenge for blue collar positions as many candidates are still intimidated by the technology. We have had some individuals object to the technology, but we've been consistent with the recruiting approach.

It is also very good for those candidates who are currently working as it allows them to interview without missing time.

HireVue is being used by one department in our organization as a tool for screening new applicants. The public viewing option of the HireVue videos allows us to share the materials across the whole organization. This tool has saved us hours of time and effort managing phone interviews and capturing feedback/ratings to be shared with the final interviewers for a particular candidate.
  • Increases our organization's time to hire metrics - candidates are invited to complete an interview and within three days, we can review and decide on their next steps without any back-and-forth with the candidate.
  • Captures real-time data about candidates status and interview ratings.
  • User-friendly - the system is very intuitive and easy to use.
  • The HireVue support team is great and very responsive to feedback and suggestions - many of the changes we have requested have already been updated and implemented. One change I'd like to see is increased integration with other applicant tracking software systems (i.e. where ratings are rolled over into the other system, the other system links to the HireVue invitation as opposed to manually entry).
  • Would like to have the option of editing an interview once created without closing and opening a new job.
  • Would like to be able to move candidate interviews over to other open positions if they should be considered in another job pipeline.
HireVue is great as an initial screening tool to replace written questions or phone interviews.

We use HireVue for any and all final round interviews that are unable to attend locally, or in an office that does not have any hiring managers. We use it across our entire recruiting function, but I specifically use it for my sales/account management and client service associate candidates. It has saved us thousands of dollars in candidate travel costs, and has also allowed our teams to collaborate on decisions when they may be in different offices/locations throughout North America. Since we are building out a new office in Minneapolis, this has also allowed us to hire there without any formal presence of hiring managers.
  • Your customer service department is fantastic. I am confident in telling candidates to contact you with any questions or issues they have launching the platform, I know that every experience is timely and they can easily get to a human being to speak with during a time that is quite stressful for them.
  • It is very user friendly - I am not tech savvy whatsoever and it has been easy to maneuver and schedule interviews in about 30 seconds.
  • I receive feedback often that the HireVue link didn't work for candidates/hiring teams. This may be operator error but it seems to be happening quite frequently.
It comes in handy when the candidate is still in school and can't travel for the interview, so we have streamlined the process where any candidate out of state will use HireVue. We have also hired all of our Minneapolis candidates through HireVue. Candidates do enjoy seeing the office so as an added step we have scheduled office tours once they have pending offers. I would say the decision lies on location, availability and office choice.

I work for an HR consulting firm, in a talent acquisition business unit. Our clients source their employment candidates and direct them to HireVue for an interview. We rate the interviews and recommend/do not recommend candidates to the next step in the employment process.

  • The platform can be rigid/difficult to modify with creative uses of it.
  • The platform screens interviewees' systems to ensure sound can be heard; but can't necessarily guarantee a viable interview (e.g., free of background noise, volume high enough to be heard, etc.) will be recorded.
HireVue is well suited for recording interviews but there are significant challenges with live interviewing.

HireVue was adopted by our whole organization and I like the fact that you can ask programming questions and filter out candidates before actually doing a formal interview with them.

I felt like it was well suited to ask programming questions and have the interviewee respond within a certain amount of time. I am not a big fan of the responses that I have gotten from people talking into the camera.
  • Providing an opportunity to view potential employees and see their strengths in programming.
  • I am not sure how to address this, but there are a few people that just don't feel comfortable talking to a camera to be recorded. If there was a way to help those types of people that would be awesome.
  • Some of the javascript programming is a bit cumbersome.
  • Some people are afraid of having a HireVue, and refuse to do it and aren't considered for working at our company even if they might be qualified.

HireVue is being used across the whole organization for recruiting purposes. We use Live Interviews and On Demand. HireVue makes it easier for hiring managers to review candidates as their calendars allow, versus us having to schedule everyone live. With managers and candidates around the globe, HireVue certainly makes a difference!

Our company has an extensive interview process including a phone screen and at least two in person interviews. This can prove to be a lengthy process and we found that we would often lose candidates along the way. We began using HireVue as a solution to expedite the interviewing process as candidates can perform the interview based on their schedule. It has been great for us so far! We've also received positive feedback from our candidates.
  • The interface for both us and the candidates is very user friendly.
  • We are able to upload videos of ourselves asking the questions which makes it a more human experience than just talking to a written question.
  • We can have multiple people within our organization view and rate a candidate. HireVue even calculates all the data so we have a big picture of how the candidate rated overall.
  • Some candidates have complained about not receiving the interview invitation from HireVue. We've had to resend a number of times, with most claiming that emails from HireVue ended up in their spam folder.
I think HireVue is a great tool for any business. However, I don't think it should be the only tool you use during the interview process. We start our process by having a quick phone conversation with the candidate to gauge their seriousness about the position. If we skip that part we often find that candidates dismiss the HireVue request wondering if it is a real person watching on the other end. Additionally, we always conduct an in person interview as the final step before being hired. However, the HireVue platform is great for narrowing it down to only our top candidates.

We currently use both the on-demand and live interview components, primarily within our retail banking division. The solution has been well received by applicants, recruiters and hiring managers. The digital platform blends well with our digital strategy and positively impacts our talent brand, especially as candidates compare us, as a credit union, to the larger commercial banks.

We use HireVues to replace phone interviews. It saves a lot of time and it is used specifically by the Talent team but certain stakeholders and hiring managers across the organization use it as well. When a candidate chooses not to complete it, it shows their lack of dedication and interest in our organization which is good for us to know.
  • Time saving. Instead of wasting time on phone interviews and rescheduling them when things come up, Hirevues hold candidates completely accountable.
  • I can make HireVue to fit my needs by editing different questions for each open role and adjusting the number of tries a candidate has per question
  • It is user friendly. I think HireVue is very easy to learn and doesn't have a big learning curve
  • I wish it was easier to delete original creators when editing an already existing position
  • Is there any way to control lighting/sound/visual quality on a completed interview?
  • Sometimes candidates experience problems accessing the app on their electronic devices
I think HireVues are especially useful for entry level roles. It is a great tool to learn more about a candidate quickly. HireVues set the tone for a candidate and allows for more specific and probing questions to be asked at an in person interview. I think more general questions regarding background and previous experience is great to ask during the selection process.

HireVue is used on higher-volume requisitions by department. It allows us to screen candidates very quickly when we are trying to narrow down a larger pool of people.

HireVue is being used across the organization for all recruiting needs. We implement it in field hires (90%) and corporate hires (10%). It helps us hire quickly and augments, improves and expedites the interview process for both candidates and hiring mangers.
  • Speed - it's quick, painless, and immediately available to view.
  • Culturally relevant - in a world of tech, it makes the process of finding and getting a job up-to-date and "cool" for our target audience.
  • Easy to navigate - lots of instruction and examples.
  • Appealing to higher level roles - maybe additional practice time, etc., - we haven't gotten great candidate feedback on user friendliness when it comes to higher level roles.
  • The rating process- it could stand to be more detailed.
  • The data/user input process- integrating with other programs to input email/name, etc., as sometimes entering it is a little time consuming.
HireVue is well suited for high volume, consumer facing roles, but less appropriate for higher level, complex roles where someone prefers to have a conversation with an interviewee vs. recording a response.

We use HireVue as a pre-screening tool for positions across our organization. Select candidates are asked to complete an interview with a combination of video and essay responses to questions we have crafted ourselves. The hiring committee reviews the responses at their convenience, and then decides who to invite to in-person follow-up interviews based on candidate ratings against a pre-determined scoring model.

Using HireVue has allowed us to reduce the number of in-person interviews we schedule, as candidates who do not meet minimum scores are filtered out during the HireVue process. This saves the time of both the hiring committee and the candidates.

  • HireVue is convenient and easy to use, as candidates are able to complete the interview questions at a time that works best for them.
  • HireVue is also convenient to use on the employer-side, again because of the ability to review interviews at a time that fits into the hiring committee member's schedule.
  • Interviews can be completed in video or written format, allowing the hiring committee to assess both verbal and written communication skills.
  • Video responses that are mistakenly submitted as complete cannot be re-done by the candidate.

We have found that an interview consisting of both written and video responses received the most positive feedback from candidates. Candidates also appreciated the opportunity to re-try their video responses up to three times before submitting them as complete. For us, the ideal number of questions for pre-screening purposes is six. Too few and you don't get enough information for a proper evaluation and too many risks becoming tedious to review and doesn't end up saving much hiring committee time.

We like to ask candidates why they are interested in the specific position they have applied for and what experience and characteristics they bring that they feel will make them successful in the role. We also ask behavioral-based questions and questions to determine their working style and cultural fit within the specific department and the organization as a whole.

Hirevue allows both our clients and candidates to interact either "live" or on demand during the recruitment process. Working internationally across various timezones with busy people, Hirevue on Demand can be used and viewed by stakeholders at times to suit them.
  • Allows for different types of questioning, written, video etc
  • Diary management for all stakeholders
  • Flexible can be used on mobile devices
  • Reliability regarding connection connection; even with strong wifi it can "buffer"

HireView is being used across my organization to do off-line video interviews in lieu of phone screens in selection processes. It is a real time saver, very convenient, and very flexible as well. The video interviews can be set up in many different ways to fit the organization's needs. The system is very user friendly with administrators and users, and pretty bug free.
  • Saves time and is flexible. No more phone tag, lousy connections, or phone screens that go on and on. Allows you to plan your time with precision.
  • Different to phone screens, allows more than one person to have access to the video interviews. If you want to see a video interview again you can do it.
  • Everything is stored and easily accessible, you can come back to your video interviews anytime if needed.
  • I would like HireView to "talk" with my ATS system, as now we use it separately.
  • My organization works in the US only, and HireView works great for us because almost everybody here has a computer or mobile device and a decent connection to the Internet. I wonder how will this work in a global context with countries that don't have good access to internet bandwidth.
  • From the candidate's perspective I am concerned about potential generational and cultural issues. People older than 30? may not feel very comfortable having an interview with a machine, and may feel the organization is not willing to invest the time with a real human being to talk to them; they man also find the technology difficult to manage. Another concern is the cultural part; for example I believe that is many parts of the world it will be perceived as deeply impolite to do an automated interview.

HireView is excellent from the organization's perspective and in a US context; this is how I currently use it, and therefore my 5 star rating. I'd recommend this to a colleague, in fact already recommended the system to a colleague in another organization. This said, as I mentioned before, I have not used this in an international or global context, and I cannot give an opinion based on experience on those regards. I would not use HireView for very high level recruitments.

The hiring managers across the whole organization use Hirevue as a screening tool when hiring for vacant positions. Because of the electronic format, HireVue has allowed our hiring managers to interview many more candidates than they previously could using a face to face interview format. It allows them to review the interviews at their own pace. Likewise, candidates can participate in the electronic interview on their own time when they're feeling refreshed and ready to do so.
  • The Hirevue software is fairly intuitive and easy to use.
  • The technical support is always available; the staff are very knowledgeable about the product.
  • The Hirevue features are flexible to meet the individual needs of each hiring manager and position.
  • We have not been able to successfully complete a live interview with HireVue due to poor sound quality and/or echoing. While they've attempted to work with us in addressing this, in the end, it has been easier to simply schedule a Google Hangout.
I would ask about the availability of technical support and regular updates. I would ask about the price of the product and the annual increase, because when we were reviewing the product I was told incorrect information.

We use HireVue after one or two screening interviews to give us the chance to see how a candidate can answer questions "in the moment," as a lot of our client interactions require the ability to think quickly and pull on past experiences to relate to the client's business and issues. It also allows us to "see" them in action, not just hear them over the phone.
  • Allows us to see the candidate in a setting where they have to "think on the fly."
  • Gives us a physical view of how they conduct themselves in front of a client.
  • Not sure, but I don't think HireVue gives candidates great instructions on how to maximize the quality of their video -- I think this would help candidates and observers like me so that video quality/lighting, etc. doesn't get in the way of making a great impression.
I think it is best suited when someone has already been screened and is viewed as a potentially good/great fit for a role. Also, clear explanation of what HireVue is, and how it is used by the candidate and the hiring organization is critical to success. Candidates who don't know what to expect rarely come across well. Our experience is that when given a clear explanation of the tool and how it is used by both sides, a candidate's true self comes through.
