HireVue has proven to be an invaluable tool in the recruitment process for a wide range of organizations. Users have found that recording themselves asking interview questions through the software creates a more genuine experience for candidates and provides valuable insights for hiring decisions. The ability to conduct digital interviews with out-of-town candidates has been particularly beneficial, saving both time and resources. It has also been instrumental in hiring remote positions, such as marketers and sales roles, allowing clients to justify flying candidates in for in-person interviews by providing a comprehensive candidate profile. In high-volume recruitment scenarios, HireVue has allowed hiring managers to interview a larger pool of candidates compared to traditional face-to-face interviews. The flexibility of on-demand and live interviews has been well-received by applicants, recruiters, and hiring managers alike, enabling them to schedule and review interviews at their own pace. Additionally, the software streamlines the screening process, reducing the need for multiple phone screens and providing customizable tools such as document uploads and custom questions. Overall, organizations that have implemented HireVue have seen improvements in the quality of candidates, reduced turnover rates, and increased satisfaction among managers and departments.
Time-saving: Reviewers appreciate that HireVue eliminates the need for phone screenings and in-person interviews, saving recruiters and hiring managers valuable time. This allows them to focus on other responsibilities and tasks. (Multiple reviewers have mentioned this.)
Efficient interview process: The ability to discontinue watching a digital interview if the candidate is not a good fit is seen as a valuable feature. Unlike phone calls or in-person interviews, ending the interview process is not as easy. This feature makes the hiring process more efficient. (Some users have highlighted this advantage.)
Enhanced candidate presentation: Users find that HireVue enables candidates to make a more compelling presentation of their experiences and what they bring to the position compared to traditional phone screens. This allows them to showcase their skills and qualifications more effectively. (Several reviewers have expressed this viewpoint.)
Difficulties contacting customer support: Some users have experienced challenges reaching out to HireVue for assistance, with delays in receiving responses and feeling that the support team has been unhelpful in resolving their issues.
Technical issues with Live Interview feature: Users have encountered technical problems while using the Live Interview feature, often due to incorrect computer settings. This has resulted in frustration and difficulty conducting interviews smoothly.
Desire for more customization options: Users have expressed a desire for greater flexibility in customizing email templates and communication for different locations. They would like the ability to edit templates and tailor them according to their specific needs.
Based on user recommendations, getting assistance from Hollingsworth and Mosier during the setup process is highly recommended. They are readily available to address any questions or concerns, and Trammell Jones can provide seamless support with single sign-on and integration.
Users strongly recommend utilizing HireVue for the early stages of the hiring and interview process. It is considered to be the best software available for pre-recorded virtual interviews, and users are particularly impressed with its AI capabilities.
Additionally, selecting the live video platform of HireVue over the onDemand option is advised to minimize glitches. Users also emphasize the importance of not overlooking the reporting feature and leveraging pre-qualified questions within HireVue.
While HireVue is regarded as a good product, some users mention that there might be more efficient and versatile options available in the market. Moreover, taking time to follow the chat bot process for better matches when seeking a position is suggested by users.

Reviews
(76-100 of 131)HireVue! You will wonder how you got by without it.
- Total flexibility from the interviewer and the interviewee perspective
- The technology is sharp
- mobile mobile mobile. If you're on the go and you need to screen candidate, you need this!!!
- I'd like to see the mobile ap have the ability to search canidate(s)
- I'd like to the mobile ap to have SSO technology
Efficiency and Customization to the max!
- Great customization options for creating interviews. You can customize each interview to fit your opening and the client's needs.
- Good customer service when issues or questions need to be answered.
- You can customize landing pages with your company's brand.
- Great template of interview questions to choose from or you can make your own.
- Some candidates are intimidated to take it so maybe doing a more engaging introductory/ instructional video would help. The one they currently use is good but it could be updated.
Vetting aid
- Video based answers.
- Maintaining a thorough record of applicants.
- Collaborating as part of a hiring panel.
- Time saver.
- HireVue obviously isn't designed to replace recruiting efforts and we've ultimately decided to partner with a recruiting agency who can both recruit and vet candidates so we aren't actively using it at this time.
- Notes can be recorded based on impressions as you're viewing an interview. I like that, but would like to see better reporting capability to review those notes afterwards.
Nothing Fancy - Just a basic review of a good tool
- HireVue’s technology is very intuitive and easy to use with minimal training and support. This makes for easy user administration, support, and maintenance.
- HireVue's name is well known and respected in our industry. Using a well respected name makes it easy to connect and network with other HireVue users.
- HireVue's employees are very professional, polite, courteous, and helpful.
- We use a front end vendor that HireVue isn't integrated with. From a functionality standpoint we couldn't use the HireVue Taleo integration we were most interested in because HireVue required the candidate to log into Taleo to complete the interview. That being said, I would love to see enhancements around the HireVue Taleo integration.
- Increasing take rates was always a pain point for one of our business units. Unfortunately, HireVue didn't have solutions for take rate issues applicable to our company. I would like to see HireVue have more creative options for solving take rate issues.
- How much are you willing to spend?
- Who is your target audience?
- Is compliance or functionality more important to your business?
- How much support can the company provide for users?
If you have a large budget, if your target audience is entry to mid level, if you're more focused on functionality than compliance, and if you have resources to provide your company's users with support HireVue is the tool for you. No doubt they are an excellent vendor.
HireVue is great
- Ease of Use
- Accessible
- Even process
- I can't think of any areas to improve.
Hireview improvements and feedback
- Filters out candidates that have done well on the resume but aren't a good fit for the job.
- Organizes and keeps record of those we've interviewed already so it's easy to remember who we've already considered.
- Allows us to develop our own questions and video responses which can be quickly viewed from my office at work or at home.
- Sometimes videos come through that don't have audio or something is messed up on the video. It would be nice if the system would detect this and let the user know before completing. (Maybe it already does and the user is lacking?).
- Don't show all the user ratings on an individual until you have given a rating. I think sometimes we are swayed by how our peers review someone. I think it would be helpful to not see any of this feedback until the reviews have been completed. So showing the rating and comments after all reviewers have had the chance to complete the review.
Innovative Product
- Quick screening of candidates - less time managers & HR needs to spend on screening.
- Ability for multiple managers / team members to review and score.
- Easy to use.
- Reminders sent out to candidates that they have a HireVue waiting to be completed would be nice.
We passed on HireVue
We used HireVue to screen candidates and rule out those we obviously didn't want to bring in to interview.
- HireVue allows you to quickly view and listen to prospective candidates without needing to go through a face to face interview with each one. This saves time and lets you focus more time on those you are interested in.
- HireVue allows you to customize your own questions. It can ask for both written and video/audio answer responses.
- Our biggest issue with HireVue is that it doesn't replace live face to face interviews. We were able to use it to screen out candidates who obviously wouldn't be a good fit. But with many candidates, we could only learn they didn't have glaring flaws when answering some questions on video for a few minutes. It was difficult to distinguish great candidates from mediocre candidates via the process as questions are predetermined, without the ability to ask followup questions based on their answers like you would in a real interview.
Making Global Recruitment Happen
- Easy to use
- Easy to teach others how to use
- Well integrated with ATS
- Can't make just one portion of a multi part interview a Live Video Interview.
- Can not edit the invites that are sent to the candidates/interviewers to personalize them.
HireVue has a few issues to work out
- The look and feel of the user interface
- The overall user experience is poor: video quality and connection. We frequently lose candidates and have to restart the interview.
- The code-view/whiteboard is nice but would be better if we had screen share capabilities as much of our interview process is to review a project submitted by the candidate.
Has the potential to be a lot better....
As the VP Executive Talent Acquisition, I had been doing 80-90% of my interviews via Skype. When we learned about HireVue, I saw this as an opportunity to upgrade the Skype experience (which can be inconsistent and not the best). HireVue, while it is a tremendous improvement in quality and experience from a Skype interview, it is inconsistent as to when it works without a glitch or when it doesn't. Everything from audio or visual problems occur. There are many instances when I have to stop the interview and switch to a call. This is disruptive and takes up time. Not to mention that it is not the best experience for the candidate. I have worked with the HireVue technical team and we made some adjustments - however, the issues have still continued to happen. It is a great tool and I receive very positive feedback from candidates. However, when it doesn't work well, it is a problem.
- If there are no glitches - it is a great tool.
- It feels like the person is sitting directly across from you and the ability to have an interactive conversation is wonderful. You can get more of a sense of the person and who they are.
- Easy to use on both ends. Very positive response and comments from the candidate end.
- Lack of consistency from a technical perspective-I have had on going issues with audio and visual. I have worked with the technical team to resolve them and things worked well for a while but it has happened again. This creates disruption during an interview and I have to switch to a phone call.
- When a technical problem happens in the middle of an interview, it is impossible to stop and call for technical assistance; the interview time has been scheduled and a candidate has limited availability, so really unrealistic to expect me to call for technical assistance. There needs to be another solution that addresses the issue or problem.
Must-Have for your Recruiting Tech Stack
- Allows for a standardized screening process where it's not left up to the one person that would traditionally be doing the phone screen.
- Provides the benefits of a Skype/Video interview but in a much more efficient way because both parties can interact on their own accord.
- Gives insight into how a candidate conducts themselves verbally & visually.
- Some candidates find it a bit uncomfortable to record themselves and have mentioned that it's a bit impersonal.
- Using it as the sole tool for screening candidates can have negative impacts as some candidates might not perform well while recording themselves and need human interaction.
- Candidates may shy away from following through with the interview process if they don't have a webcam readily accessible.
Review of HireVue
- Managers and the recruiters are able to view applicants fast and save time that would have been used to phone screen.
Recruiters Perspective
- It lets you interview a candidate in a convenient way for both employer and interview candidate
- It is great for companies hiring remote employees
- It does not always load the videos well
- It needs high internet speed to work properly
- Hire Vue makes it hard to download a large amount of candidates at once
HireVue Review
Currently it is used as a second round interview tool by all recruiters across the whole organization.
I feel working with HireVue is slow in terms of loading times. It has gotten better from the past and the only thing we use it for is the video capabilities which I think they could be able to incorporate quite a bit more into the technology.
- Video capabilities
- Candidate experience. The HireVue is always pinpointed as the candidates least favorite part of the recruiting process.
- When sending OpenVues, there is no notification of when the candidate completed the interview.
Positive review for Hirevue
- They make it easy to evaluate hiring candidates who take the online interview seriously
- It's an easy interface that makes sense
- I'm able to provide recommendations at many different points in the online interview that then show as a summary recommendation for me to review later, or for my team to reference when they want to see my opinion
- Fundamentally an online interview can be hard for a candidate - it's not easy to sit in front of a computer camera and present yourself as personable, so I don't think it always shows candidates in their best light
- I don't believe it gives candidates an option to redo an answer or an interview, which may hurt the process because sometimes things just go wrong
- The system stores old interviews for a long time, which muddles the process for successive hires because it's hard to tell the new candidates from the old
2.5 years working with HireVue
- Identifying a candidate's presentation and ability to communicate well.
- HireVue allows the hiring managers sit out for the first round of interviews and select who stood out in the video interviews and hand pick those individuals for additional interviews.
- Shortens the interview process by weeks, no longer are we trying to coordinate schedules for the first rounds of interviews.
- It would be nice to see a video posted online that shows how the interview process works with HireVue, we spend a lot of time explaining this to our candidates and even our client companies.
- More support in getting our client companies onboard with the product. Best practices to keep them engaged in the process.
- Tutorial walking new users thru the process of creating their first interview.
Great time saving tool
- Easy access and use for potential new hire candidates.
- Great format for creating questions and problems for potential candidates to complete.
- Allows our team to screen candidates faster and on our schedule.
- It would be nice to integrate the actual job application into the pre or post interview process with a candidate.
- It would be nice to be able to edit a current "job" instead of having to create a new position.
Great Tool!
- Automatically communicate with/remind candidates. This take a large administrative burden off of me.
- Their customer service team is tops! I always get quick responses and they are very helpful to our candidates.
- Allowing for different types of questions (video, essay, etc.) This allows me to get a clear picture from our candidate and to customize our options for each position we fill.
- I would like to be able to archive more than 1 position at a time. The current archive process is tedious for me considering our large req load/fill rate.
- After completing an action, I would like to be redirected to my home screen.
Great tool for recruiting industry
- Allows candidates to feel comfortable with on demand interviewing.
- Is flexible in that we can create tailored questions.
- Allows us to search for past completed HireVues so we can make decisions quickly without having to resend or re interview.
- Appearance seems outdated
- Would like a complete rating on the first page so you don't have to click through each one to see
- Numerical rating over stars
HireVue is worth giving a try
- Easy to use
- Great analytics
- Easy to compare candidates side by side
- It's difficult to show the ROI in terms of $$, so cost can be a factor.
HireVue for a Better Hire!
- Screens candidates quickly and efficiently
- Provides deeper insights into a candidate's personality, communication skills, and cultural fit earlier in the hiring process
- Reduces cycle time
- Super simple, intuitive and easy to use
- Better reporting
- More ability to customize templates and system set-up
- Ability to require ratings and recommendations from evaluators
Good start, but not there yet
- The whiteboard feature is nice for sharing code samples.
- The recording feature is nice although not something that is particularly unique.
- Video quality is typically a struggle. I have experienced several interviews where the video is super choppy or is lost all together.
- Not having the ability to screen share is a killer. That limitation alone makes looking at an alternative a real possibility.
Want to interview 10+ people in one hour??
- HireVue has 24/7 support services, which really helps me since I ask my candidates to complete their HireVue interview over the weekend when I'm not in the office to answer questions.
- They are constantly evolving and adding functions to make the HireVue experience better for their clients.
- They always try to make their materials fun and engaging for clients.
- In the notes section, I wish they would save automatically, like in Google docs. I've lost a lot of good notes on interviews because I forgot to click the "add note" button.
- I wish I could see a candidate from an archived interview without having to un-archive all the candidates from that job requisition.
- The reps that have visited our company have had great points to make, but at times, can seem condescending.
When using HireVue, the key questions to ask depend on the position, but asking for specific examples or asking "tell me" questions are key for me.
Hire-Revue
- HireVue is easy to use. It has a good, straight forward user interface.
- The coding questions, complete with unit tests are great.
- The video questions work well.
- HireVue does not work well in Safari. The UI gets all garbled.
- One of the biggest reasons to do coding questions for candidates is to see how they think. While it is nice to see their final solutions it would be nice to "replay" a coding question complete with audio from the candidate to see how they went about solving the coding question.
- Is there a way to use HireVue in real time? Lots of people use CollabEdit instead for live coding questions. It would be cool if HireVue could as well.
