We have all our employees take quizzes though Train. We also have new hires watch videos we have set up.
  • The system grades all the quizzes so managers and team members do not have to.
  • Train provides an easy way to create new training material and reaches all your current employees.
  • The navigation of the site is confusing and hard to get from one place to another.
  • The report dashboard is a bit confusing.
If the material is kept up on and someone manages your Schoox system, the program itself is easy to use.

All hourly employees have specified training that they must complete in order to complete their training program. [It's] Used nationwide in all sites, all cities. Allows the message being conveyed to be universal. No loss of information across many cities. Better form of communication and we are 100% sure that all employees are receiving the best training possible.
  • Easy to use and manage.
  • Easy to track employees progression in their training.
  • No loss of communication.
  • An auto reset on a training course when a new hire has failed an exam would be more convenient.
  • The ability for all managers to reset the failed courses would be helpful.
  • Under individual profiles, it is messy and hard to filter through. Maybe a better layout featuring all their tasks along with progression report.. Maybe a list of what issues they struggled with (what questions were missed) so the managers can see what areas need improving?
  • Maybe a report card of strengths and "areas of improvement".
The program allows us to filter through trainings with ease and speed. The program allows us to relay appropriate information with ease knowing that there is no communication that is lost between venues and companies. It is sometimes harder to review what was completed or where each individual struggled. We would like to have a way to review specifically where someone's strengths and weaknesses lie.

We have implemented HotSchedules Train powered by Schoox in multiple restaurants that I work with. It has been instrumental in each organization for training. Training is shifting and our employees need to feel developed. Most restaurants don't have the time or the resources to always develop employees so they lose good employees. When we transitioned over to HotSchedules Train, it has allowed us to focus more on developing.

We also utilize HotSchedules Train for quizzes and testing as well as being able to see the analytics on where our employees are in training, how they're comprehending what we're teaching, and see how that translates into the actual locations.

Of course, this doesn't replace our current training program but it was a seamless transition and our employees absolutely love this new style of learning. It's super easy to teach people how to use it and can be used anywhere and everywhere.

Lastly, it was amazing to have courses already made which came with HotSchedules Train/Schoox to minimize the time having to create courses and finish up necessary certifications almost instantly.
  • Training analytics
  • Ease of usage
  • Implementaiton
  • A better UI for the admin when building courses
It shouldn't replace your training program - only enhance it.

Make the videos short and concise - 2 minutes or less to drive home important aspects of the training.

We use Train by Schoox for all our new employees. We require every employee from our busser to our general managers to use Schoox before setting foot on the floor. Recently we added a course to everyone's assigned courses and we were able to roll it out extremely fast with Schoox.
  • Uploading of courses
  • Great built in materials
  • Auto assignment
  • Test formats are not ideal - no fill in the blank
  • Account setup doesn't always work
  • Employees often get confused to which courses are theirs, they do unassigned courses
Schoox is great for companies with several employees that all require in-depth training in their respective departments.

We use it for our training so we don't have to print it out and it is easier to manage since we don't have to correct the tests or quizzes. Anytime we have a menu change we can create a training and then a quiz instead of holding an all staff meeting, saving money.
  • Training - You can create and customize a training course for any department.
  • Ongoing training - As people advance in their positions you can invite them to learn more details of their jobs by posting videos or training courses to watch from the comfort of their homes.
  • Navigating is sometimes difficult as with some employees I can see their accomplishments and go back and others I have to click back on admin and then manage members.
  • I think for businesses not using the publish for others to see outside of their company you could have a tier without all the "extras".
  • If you add to a course that somebody has already completed 100% it should not make them re-take the additional information unless you specify so.
It is well suited for training. It is not as appropriate for daily training when you are teaching individual situations.

We use HotShedules Train across the organization as part of our new hire orientation program to educate our staff with job specific materials, videos, and quizzes. We also use it as a tool to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of our materials and improve upon our on-boarding and training practices. It also helps us gage performance of our staff.
  • It allows you to import detailed information geared to a specific job or position that staffers can review.
  • Train affords you the ability to create customized job-related quizzes that further the knowledge of the staff.
  • Tracking of employee progress is seamless through HotSchedules Train.
  • I would like to be able to download and print reports, specifically under the admin tab where I'd like to post accomplishments of the staff.
It's very well suited for businesses that wish to continuously improve the customer service skills of their employees. Restaurants in particular can take advantage of customizing quizzes so that the staff is given the right tools and ability to pass along vital information to the guests, thus greatly improving customer service in the establishment.

We use it for new hires mostly, however we also use it to roll out new products in the restaurant, for instance, new menu items, new software like loyalty, etc. It addresses the issue of making sure everyone is trained without necessarily having to go into the restaurants to do so.
  • I am able to select either specific users or jobs based on the material I am training on.
  • It allows deadlines to be set, so if we are rolling out new menu items and we need everyone to view the material prior to the go-live date.
  • I think it can be less complex, meaning there are too many levels of things which can make it complicated to understand as an administrator.
  • The interface can get a little busy.
I think it's great for new hires, where you have a specific set of training material that goes to everyone hired, like a menu test, culture videos, etc.

Our company uses HotSchedules Train powered by Schoox for all of our new hire teammate training as well as information and product roll outs. Our teammates like using their smartphones in the first place, so we moved our training to something they already have in their hands. It also lets us capitalize on micro-learning and instant feedback.
  • Customization so we can make the information interactive.
  • We can make updates instantaneously in the case of new operating procedures or products.
  • We can track and report each location and users progress to ensure the information is being reviewed and it also provides a time stamp.
  • Making reports easier to export and add more information for reporting. i.e. by department.
  • Identifying which content is for which users. Some content cannot be hidden from everyone - and we don't want everyone to see it.
  • The ease of use and mobility getting from course to course and, if needed, moving backwards.
Well suited: Reviewing appetizer and dessert descriptions and recipes and then quizzing the user on the appetizers and desserts. The user cannot move on until they answer all questions correctly. Also, the OTJ Training can be checked off to prove the user knows what was taught in person.
Less suited: Having a server actual spiel and 'wait' on a table.

Schoox Rocks!

We are using Schoox to augment and formalize the training materials provided to us by our Franchise organization. We've created curricula for the various roles in the restaurant, which contain courses we created around the materials our parent organization provides and additional lectures we feel augment and improve upon those materials. The courses also allow us to prescribe the order in which the materials are presented, and the OnTheJob Training function allows us to give our trainers a checklist of competencies each trainee must master before moving on to the next course.
  • Managing content is very easy.
  • The interface is sometimes a bit cluttered. It does a lot, and it's sometimes hard to know where to go for which function, especially as an administrator.
  • It should be possible to intermix various training "modes" into the workflow of a course. We can set a quiz to follow a particular lecture, but should be able to do that with other things as well, especially the On The Job training module.
Schoox takes a significant commitment of time and resources, so it's probably best suited for a mid-to-large organization, such as a multi-unit franchise or small chain. A single-unit restaurant might find it a challenge to devote the necessary manpower, time and money to fully realize the value of Schoox.

We use Schoox to train all of our incoming staff. It helps reduce waste and assists in the monitoring of training.
  • Prevents wasting paper as we deliver training materials and testing online.
  • Allows us to update material frequently.
  • Assigning training can be time-consuming.
  • Maneuvering through the system can be somewhat difficult.
It is well suited for quizzing but does not provide any sort of service for on the floor training.

We use Schoox for all of our online server and bartender training. It is really useful and a great tool to have. Being able to have all the printed material digital and the videos makes training a lot easier.
  • Ease of access
  • Ability to train off hours
  • Keeps training consistent
  • How items are organized
  • The user interface
  • The search feature

HotSchedules Train is being used across our entire organization. We're using it for initial employee training, new manager training, compliance, and ongoing training and development.
  • Easily navigable
  • Easy at-a-glance reporting
  • Easily add content
  • Difficult to troubleshoot SCORM issues - there's no apparent error or log to check
  • Would like to see reporting/admin functions available on the mobile app
  • Sometimes customer service pushes back on integration issues for you to solve as opposed to working together to solve issues on their end with integration
Thus far, Train has shown initial success in basic transfer of knowledge and validation of skills. There aren't any situations that I've used it for yet (hourly training, management training, ongoing development, compliance, etc.) that I wouldn't use it for again in the future. It is definitely suitable for check-the-box compliance info and blended learning.
