While the decision took into account multiple factors, I would say the single most important factor in our decision to go with HubSpot was the prior experience with the product from the two Marketers building out the function at PartnerStack. We had both used HubSpot extensively at other companies and liked it. As we were building up the Marketing function from near scratch, we liked the all-in-one functionality of HubSpot to serve as the main platform for Marketing.

One of things that sold me on Hubspot's inbound strategy was that I kept finding them in various searches and had downloaded a lot of their content, found it useful, and recognized and respected their brand based on that. I didn't really know or consider Hubspot as a vendor or service provider, I just knew they had been creating some content that I'd liked and they got a point for that. I figured if it worked for them in making an impression on me, it could also work for us in our industry niche. (Note: this was written in 2014 based on a move to Hubspot in 2010/2011).

Product reputation was definitely what swayed me. The price was in range with other systems but we'd always heard good things about HubSpot (and read good reviews). The company's reputation as a start up that was creative and technologically sound also convinced us. Their annual event, Inbound, also enhanced their reputation in our eyes.

The consultant that we were working with to revamp our marketing efforts recommended it, and all of the research that I did supported that recommendation. I spent weeks looking into and meeting with reps from every other marketing automation platform that I could find, and HubSpot blew the rest of them out of the water.

It really comes down to the type of business you want to be. Whenever you're evaluating a Marketing Automation platform for your business it's really important to look at the type of company you are and the one you aim to become. For us, HubSpot was the perfect blend of functionality, product maturity/direction, and how they are built to help us go to market. Some people might discover how other automation vendors are better suited to the kind of business they are (Sales driven or otherwise).

Ultimately, it came down to feature comparisons and how we wanted to run our marketing department.

People do business with people they trust. HubSpot has such an amazing team, community, and commitment to delighting their customers and it really shows. They educate you on the software and inbound marketing best practices in a way that's truly useful. We didn't just purchase software - we signed on to a new marketing way of life!

The product usability and reputation were essential if this was to be used daily by our department. It also had to integrate with Salesforce easily - which it did. The price was attractive because there were no contracts and the sales experience was outstanding. I was down to Pardot and HubSpot and I believe the sales experience sealed the deal.

The product needed to be user friendly and help us develop our website and look modern. It also needed to have the functions of being able to track who has been on our website with the option of creating them as a contact and following there movements on our website. Also being able to merge our wordpress blog into hubspot

We had heard such great things about Hubspot. Both my manager and I really love all the inbound marketing content that Hubspot provides and we are huge fans of Inbound Bold talks. We knew we wanted to look into Hubspot and since the very first say, we know we've made the right choice to switch.

I found that the ease of use was a big decision factor. Everything was very simple to use and anything that I had questions on, there was always support that i could call for guidance. The fact that I can create my site, maintain it and manage all the marketing features really makes it an awesome product.

The deciding factor for us was the fact that HubSpot had more TOFU support with strong MOFU follow-through. We didn't come to the table with a huge lead database, so being able to generate leads was very important to us.

HubSpot needs to be right for our clients. The tools needs to be fully-featured, yet easy enough for our team and clients to use. The fact that HubSpot offers so many features (blogging, SEO, development, CTAs, social, email, forms, reporting, etc.) is a huge selling feature. We can dig deep when we need to, but HubSpot also allows us to simplify all our results into easy to understand reports.

Hubspot replaced Marketo at my last company. I am well versed in Marketing Automation and was skeptical switching to Hubspot but I am now a fan. They are incredibly responsive and support is great as well.
