Ibexa DXP
5 years of experience
We have been working with Ibexa for more than 6 years, and have been through many iterations of the product, starting back when it was still eZ Publish. We are currently on v2.5, meaning we have also taken the time to go through an upgrade and migration of the product, and all the way the team at Ibexa was always there with us each step of the way to assist. The platform itself is very versatile and is great for organizations with complex structures that require a great deal of flexibility to host their digital services. While there may not be as many on the market connections with other products, if you have a good team of developers you can accomplish almost anything you like with a bit of elbow grease. The only downside is that the product itself is now in a state of a mix of old and new codebases, where the newer React-based components can cause issues and extra work when still maintaining older legacy code.
  • Well structured UI and content tree
  • Good deal of flexibility to create and integrate with other systems
  • Great support team
  • Listens to clients and strives to improve based on feedback
Cons
  • Better integration of the newer, modern features with legacy code
  • Better testing and/or support for core bugs that are not easily fixed by non-Ibexa developers
International organizations [that] have complex structures, with offices and presences around the world would be best suited to use Ibexa. The flexibility to maintain multiple websites and languages in one system is very helpful. That, and [maintaining] one brand identity easily, make the platform well suited for companies looking for a flexible, and reliable system.
  • Core bugs have required a great deal of our own time to fix when not taken care of by the Ibexa team
  • Flexibility and ease to create new sites using previously developed features in the system allows for leveraging of past efforts
Great customer support, but the support for the product itself when there are core bugs could be better.
A lot of great features, easy to jump in and use for experienced CMS editors. However, the more "page builder" type features are not up to par with other, newer and more modern CMS's. They receive an A for the effort to bring modern features into an older system, but they could have been handled better.

Excellent Product, Reliable Company.

Ibexa DXP
8 years of experience
Ibexa DXP is the CMS for our 4 primary websites. Three of those sites are subscription products. One is a research tool containing over 100 years of magazines. The site allows one to search through those magazines.
  • Customizable
  • API integrations with other systems
  • Good selection of page templates for publishing
Cons
  • Small number of development partners in North America.
  • We find the editorial interface still a bit simplistic. Our editors are accustomed to very sophisticated “drag and drop” wysiwyg editing tools. Ibexa DXP still has a way to go to meet their expectations.
  • Set up is bit complex. Spinning up a new site takes longer than you'd expect.
It works very well in presenting our publications on the web. The built-in templates for presenting text-based content have been extremely helpful.
  • Overall, Ibexa DXP has met all of our business requirements. I can’t think of anything we haven’t been able to accomplish with Ibexa DXP.
  • We do see it as a bit expensive to own and operate. Licensing is a bit pricey.
  • Ibexa has stood by [its] product. They have been responsive to all of our requests. That's made a difference in the day-to-day support of the product.
Ibexa is always responsive. They answer our support requests promptly. They complete them thoroughly.
Our editorial staff would still love a more sophisticated interface. They are accustomed to more user-friendly/feature-rich applications.
The partner ecosystem is small. However, we've worked with two Ibexa partners over the last 10 years. They were very skilled. They were great companies. We've interviewed other Ibexa partners in North America. We found them all to be professional with solid resumes.
We’ve priced other enterprise products and found Ibexa DXP to be a bit more expensive. However, not enough to dissuade us from staying with the product.
