IBM Cloud [File] Storage is a great way for businesses to manage their object storage requirements. When working with clients, I have found it to be both flexible and powerful and helps my clients with their asset storage needs. For example, it is excellent for storing large content that might need to be streamed by end-users, especially that which needs to be stored across multiple geographies. The customizable metadata really helps with analytics.
  • Archival of large files which would otherwise need on-premise storage solutions.
  • Multi-geography storage (important in terms of data protection laws) means that data can be stored in the appropriate jurisdiction.
  • Infinitely scalable, so no concerns about capacity or building the next generation of storage solutions.
  • I have personally struggled with the NFS integration.
  • Still an early generation of product compared to competitors.
  • Ease of use could be improved upon.
IBM Cloud [File] Storage is well suited for environments where it is important to store files in the appropriate geography, and where capacity could be an issue. For example, rather than having to purchase or expand an existing storage array, and worry about complexities such as redundancy and hardware failure, all of this is abstracted away by IBM's Cloud File Storage solution. In this ever more connected world, it is vital that files are always available, and IBM Cloud File Storage is well suited for this.

We use IBM Cloud File Storage integrated with Watson Assistant, which is how we managed to make documents available to users of cognitive chats. In addition, we have a tool, Chat Tools, where documents are generated so that the curator can analyze user interactions in conversations with the Bot, and when stored in IBM Cloud File Storage, it is possible to have quick access, in addition to being able to match with your peers for continuous improvement of integrations with Watson Assistant.
  • Availability. During the period of use, we had no case of unavailability, and this is important.
  • Easy management
  • Easy integration via API
  • Endpoint that returns the file in base64, today it is necessary to do it in the backend of an application
IBM Cloud File Storage is a great tool for integration with your applications, as it has excellent documentation of its api, thus facilitating the development of software that is integrated with it.IBM Cloud File Storage also has high availability, which is vital for our applications, and is easy to configure.

IBM Cloud File Store is my group's preferred way to store files in the cloud. Real-time access to open any files stored in the cloud is huge for our different remote teams working all across the globe. This allows us to communicate and collaborate quicker with each other for any matters that are handled internally.
  • Real-time access to live documents in the cloud.
  • Easy to use UI for anyone.
  • Very secure that enables trust in cloud uploads of important documents.
  • Lag time in file uploads/downloads is difficult.
  • Finding certain files can be difficult due to per search functionality.
  • Storage is limited.
This software is always updating to be mindful of potential security threats that exist out there. Knowing our data is secure, we feel comfortable using IBM Cloud File Storage to collaborate globally and provide access to internal information across the globe. It is very easy to use; thus no real training is needed for users - huge for a remote team.

We are already using the IBM on-premises storage solution for our critical applications. We had the requirement of storing temporary cache files for the applications on the cloud. Since IBM Cloud [File] Storage can be easily integrated with our existing storage and infrastructure, it helped us to save time for deployment and configuration.
  • Shared file storage.
  • Easy and simple deployment.
  • Reliable and secure storage service for cloud.
  • User interface to setup and manage the cloud storage service is good.
  • Fast and high speed cloud storage.
  • We have sometimes experienced some outages and hope IBM will fix this soon.
  • Initial trainings are required for the teams to work and do the setup.
  • Support documentation from IBM needs improvement with [the] inclusion of more detailed steps and video tutorials for [a] better understanding of the engineers.
  • The billing process is very complex and you may have to incur additional overhead. Need a simpler approach and clarity on this aspect.
  • Support response from the IBM team is very slow and lacks information.
IBM Cloud [File] Storage is well suited for business use cases where you already have IBM infrastructure in place. The integration is seamless and will save you a lot of time for routing data. Overall it's a good storage service but we have experienced some outages.

We are using virtual desktops for client support and we use IBM Cloud File Storage in almost all the processes of storing disk images, user data, backups, etc.
  • Easy to configure and access
  • Secure and stable storage
  • High speed and demand LUNs
  • Sometimes customer service is helpless [from my experience].
  • [I feel] the interface to manage the NFS share is not user-friendly.
[IBM Cloud File Storage] has allowed us to deploy more users at this stage. It is useful to store our main images and user data in a secure way. It has also increased our flexibility, etc. We have multiple servers across multiple availability regions, but IBM Cloud File Storage does not support mounting it across multiple availability zones. Therefore, [IBM Cloud File Storage] is not helpful in this scenario.

It is not directly used within our organization by employees but we use it for our apps. We use it for users to store images and documents in our app. We are working on corporate governance, where users can vote on agendas or proposals, store agreements, and governance policies. Users can upload pictures, organization documents, attachments, legal agreements, etc.
  • Cost effective
  • Fast speed
  • Good looking UI/UX
  • Reliable
  • Bad IBM support.
  • No guides available or really old/expired documentation to get started.
  • Billing and usage is confusing.
It is well suited if you are already aware of how to use cloud file storage systems, but if you are new to it, IBM is not a very beginner-friendly platform to get started. I had many troubles getting started. I felt other cloud providers had better documentation and tutorials to get started.

We are a virtual desktops company and we use IBM Cloud File Storage in all the process: to store disk images, to store user data, backups, etc.
Cloud storage is key to us, being a very flexible platform we can and certainly do deploy wherever we're closer to our users but the backups and data are priceless.

  • Secure, stable storage
  • High speed, high demand LUNs
  • Ease of config and access
  • Sometimes support is a little unhelpful.
  • It'd be interesting to see year based models with ease of increment.
  • There should be more help towards picking storage.
If you're thinking about deploying a cloud scenario with a lot of users in which performance is a must and stability is very much required you can go with IBM Cloud File Storage. Personally I had some problems with a LUN that didn't connect even though I authorized it and in that sense support could get better.

We use IBM Cloud File Storage [in] our training department. It allows us space to store operating system images when we build our classroom lab environments. It also allows us to have scratch space to store files.
  • Simple file system sharing
  • Lots of storage space (up to 12 TB)
  • Choice of performance (up to 10 IOPS/GB)
  • Simple interface to order more storage
  • Quick interface to allow more servers to share the file store
  • Security - only allows access from specified server(s)
  • The interface to manage the NFS share is not as easy as I'd like it to be
[IBM Cloud File Storage is well suited for] NFS storage and file sharing. For object storage, their IBM Cloud Object Storage is much better price.

EMISIA has been using IBM for all its data storage needs to secure privacy within its own network and take advantage of all file-sharing options companywide. The whole organization has been involved in its implementation and so far our work network runs it to support day-to-day operations, such as NFS shares and constant backup needs. So far so good!
  • Backup options.
  • Performance provisions.
  • More flexibility in storage option, although the limit of 12 TB is quite good.
  • A more detailed manual when it comes to the implementation of the software in the company.
It depends on the size of the company, or the needs of management to run day-to-day things on massive or small storage packages. The most important thing to keep in mind is the durability and amazing connectivity of IBM's storage options, so with that being said if you need to run massive amounts of data on a daily basis and use file sharing then you can safely try it and see if it works well with you. Its interface is also extremely good.

IBM Cloud File Storage is currently being managed and ran by the Information Technology Department. The entire organization's file structure is housed here though. It allows us to easily store, manage, and access our secure information in a stable and reliable environment. Using this platform gives us the flexibility and assurance that our valuable data is safe, secure, and ready when we need it.
  • Easy to use management tools.
  • Secure access to files.
  • Price is steep for new users before trying it out.
  • I'd like to see automatic exports to local drive storage.
IBM Cloud File Storage is useful for storing large amounts of private, sensitive data as a means of securing it and keeping it backed up to prevent data loss. It is not as useful yet in terms of accessing documents and files that you would be using daily or weekly. It takes getting used to the interface, but once you do, it is pretty simple.

The control over both capacity and total IOPS per storage volume is a great feature of IBM Cloud File Storage that my company recognized. It is used to share information among the departments of the college. As we work with clients, it is very useful to share files, modify, and comment when developing the materials. It helps with a great deal of managing the different kinds of applications and storage of files as well as archiving.
  • Great price for storage.
  • Faster loading.
  • The navigation could be more user-friendly.
  • Features like sharing outside cloud.
The endurance level and capacity are great in IBM Cloud File Storage. The name of the company is already making it reliable. You won't be unsatisfied with its performance, but it has to be linked with everything in the workplace to make things easier.
