We shifted from traditional document capture methods to IBM Datacap since it offers intelligent cognitive capture capabilities, which are robust and accurate. I don’t know if IBM Datacap is being utilized across the enterprise, but in Engineering department, we highly rely on it to automate processing of complex and unknown documents.
  • It eases data capturing from multiple devices such as scanners, faxes and emails in all formats.
  • AI-infused intelligent processing gives business users opportunities to capture complex and unknown documents from cloud and on-premise repositories.
  • Exporting documents to other applications is just by a one-click.
  • Even though IBM Datacap has enriched mobility and allows users to capture data with tablets and Smartphones, it tends to be slow and makes the devices to hang, mainly when using smartphones with outdated versions.
Once highly customized, IBM Datacap can suit any business unit and scenario. To realize accurate knowledge and insight base on business documents, I would emphasize use of IBM Datacap since it has robust OCR tool that ease document capturing.
  • Enriched mobility support: IBM Datacap allows business users to use Smartphones and Tablets to capture documents. However, they need to have latest versions in order to make it easy to capture documents.
  • AI Intelligent capture: with availability of machine learning on IBM Datacap, it is easy and effective to capture, classify and extract data from complex and unstructured documents.
  • Data redaction based on user roles:- In regard to requester specifications, IBM Datacap redacts data to make sure it doesn’t offer what the user don’t want; mainly sensitive business data.
  • We have protected and safeguarded business information by redacting documents to ensure that confidential data doesn’t reach to irrelevant business users or cyber attackers.
  • Business procedures automation has been enhanced by IBM Datacap as part of the Cloud pak, which eases workflow and decision management.
  • Being based on modern modular, IBM Datacap allows us to pay for what we use, thus no losses are encountered.
Atlassian Confluence only stores and share documents in the cloud, whereas IBM Datacap has additional features that makes it effective to not only store and share documents, but also capture information via OCR and redact sensitive information.

Traditional methods of capturing documents tend to be hectic to use when processing complex and unknown document formats from external sources like emails and scanners. IBM Datacap is being used across all company departments to capture documents from faxes and emails as digital files and process them to modern formats.
  • Machine learning automates document processing from external applications and sources like scanners.
  • Exporting data with just a click to other content repositories.
  • Redaction of data based on requester role. Therefore, we are able to block irrelevant or sensitive information based on the specification of users.
  • Availability of a success team that offers free support during and post-implementation ensures that I am free from issues always. Therefore, whenever I need something I just call or email the customer support team.
I would recommend IBM Datacap to all businesses and users that want to protect sensitive data from delivering to the wrong business users by redacting data based on the role of the requester.
  • Smartphone and tablet support: with this enriched mobility, users are able to capture, validate and submit documents from anywhere with smartphones and tablets.
  • Advanced document recognition: this is used in RPA to improve workflow automation by integrating it with Automation Anywhere.
  • User role-based data redaction is another feature that protects sensitive data from landing to wrong recipients.
  • IBM Datacap has brought a new level of insights that improve business process automation.
  • Document management in one integrated solution reduces operational costs and time by logging only in a single solution.
  • By capturing data in the cloud, we are able to improve data governance.
IBM Datacap has a strong OCR capability that makes it easy to capture, validate and submit data from other document repositories like Scanners, faxes, and mobile applications unlike Ephesoft Transact, which also lacks enterprise data capturing capabilities.

Classification and management of business documents are vital in every organization to enhance smooth workflow. IBM Datacap is the main tool being utilized at COTA to capture, automate data processing, and export to other repositories.
  • Capturing data and storing it in one integrated solution from other applications. It is easy to input documents from scanners, emails, and other digital files like PDF.
  • Once data is processed at stored in IBM Datacap it is easy to export to other repositories
  • Artificial Intelligence available on IBM Datacap automates data processing that is hectic to capture so ad they can be better understood by business users and machines/systems.
  • Image capture through IBM Datacap mobile application hangs when machine learning is processing metadata.
I would recommend it for data capturing, but it has other more vital capabilities that every agency requires on a daily basis. I would emphasize prospects to use it as pak for Business Automation to easily automate tasks and orchestrate workflow in the cloud.
  • Intelligent Processing capability on IBM Datacap has improved data analysis.
  • Document processing: This feature makes it possible to support any file assortment from PDF, TFF, DOC to JPG.
  • Data Extraction: eases processing of data and information from semistructured and unstructured data repositories.
  • Wide array OCR Support from Linux, PC and MAC
  • Data processing and AI-infused intelligent processing puts data into a format that is known by every business user.
  • Data input from multiple devices and applications to Datacap ensures data is always available.
  • Third-party applications integration makes it easy to export documents without facing difficulties or IT procedures.
IBM Datacap has robust optical character recognition features compared to some of the competitive tools that I have used prior. In addition, IBM Datacap integrates with a wide array of external applications and does not pop-up lots of errors while extracting data from already scanned documents.

We currently use IBM Datacap across the whole organization to ingest documents that are formatted and also with relevant data.
  • Ingest documents
  • Text analysis
  • Sometimes its documentation is poor
  • Creating customized flow [is] not always straight forward
  • Support from IBM could be better and faster
Scanning mechanism and ease of use provided out of [the] box. [However, the] speed of the application is slow and could be better.
  • It's able to scan documents in [IBM] Datacap and upload them to file net with minimal steps
  • It has amazing nice bar detection
  • Accounting checks and balances
  • Also being able to extract data from all content and creating searchable pdfs has been so nice in our business processes
It's easier to extract data from documents for analytics, unlike other similar platforms.

We currently use Datacap to ingest standard formatted documents and free text documents, identify these and label them and extract relevant data. Development is limited to one team, but all incoming mail, email and snail is routed through it.
  • Ingest documents
  • Analyse text
  • Supporting documentation is poor
  • UI is old fashioned
It's well suited to extracting data from structured documentation and can do this with relative ease. It's less suited to images or Excel and has difficulty reading these.
  • Increased productivity.
  • Better adherence to compliance as all documents are read and understood in the same way.
It was cheaper with a better support package offered and no price per page scanned!
Generally they are very good and reactive to our requests. if we find an issue our error they are quick to add a fix to the next release if needs be.
