The IBM FlashSystem 7200 is well-suited for large-scale production databases with high workloads. We've been using this product for six months, and our client has met all of their business goals. Using different pools, we can now divide workloads. This product provides an excellent repository, as well as high performance and data compression.

The organization uses both entry level and mid-range level system in their remote sites and main data centers. The systems are supporting both iSeries and Open Systems workloads. We haven’t combined the workloads on a single system, but the FlashSystem is more than up to the task.

Our clients have utilized several types of Flash Storage options, especially when tiering is applied. For backups, they will use lower end storage. For general storage of data, they will utilize a combination of cheaper flash and SSDs, along with spinning disk. However, they are retiring their spinning disk and looking towards all flash storage. For their high end workloads, they utilize the FlashSystem 840, 900, and are now looking at the FS9100 series.

We utilize the enterprise offerings. Specifically the IBM V9000. We have 6 of these storage arrays between multiple sites. We use the replication feature that is included with the product to help provide disaster recovery for our critical applications. This technology has proven to be very beneficial to our organization and has helped our team to provide great value to our customers.
