I use to backup multiple devices in given time intervals to ensure data losses can be mitigated.
  • Automatic backup that runs in the background
  • Restoring to particular points in time
  • No limit on number of devices
  • User interface can be unintuitive
  • Some options are a bit hidden
  • UI looks a bit dated
  • No support for mobile phones
Handling multiple devices and automatic backups.

I use IDrive Online Backup and Object Storage e2 to backup my videos for my YouTube channel. The process is easy to use. I like how it quickly checks what has already been backed up before the next backup. I also like that I can download my videos for editing directly from the site so I don't need to use my external hard drive. I have the app on my phone as well which allows me to check what clips are online and I can watch them online too. I love that I can easily share the link with others to specific folders so they can download. I can view the clips on the phone app but not on my laptop.
  • Easy to share files
  • Easy to backup files from phone
  • Can view videos on phone app
  • Video and photo files viewable on laptop app
  • Takes a long time to upload
Use if your files are organized already and you know where everything is.

We have a small business but still have needs for off-site storage. We were using another company for years but their service has been failing. We have a relatively small amount of data to store so we did not need a huge space, nor complications of one account for each computer.
  • One account for multiple computers
  • Very simple dashboard for configuration, backup, restore, etc.
  • Multiple tiers of storage space
  • Flexible scheduler
  • Improve the estimated time for backups
  • During the initial scan advise which files are NOT going to be backed up
This is a great solution for personal or small businesses. With no dedicated IT department it falls on the owner to make sure the company's data is safe in case of local failure. IDrive Online Backup and Object Storage e2 was simple to setup on our 3 computers. The option to upgrade to more storage makes it a good solution if demand requires more space.

I'm mostly using the cloud drive. I was looking for a reliable service that could give me a reliable service with enough storage space and the right price. IDrive Online Backup and Object Storage service was the best I could find. I simply back up my stuff on a cloud drive and I have access from anywhere in the world. It also lets you back up your phone and simply whatever you have and it can be accessible on the network.
  • Enough space
  • Reliable
  • Great Price
  • A flag that would let you know if you're backing up a huge directory, it was not disrupted
  • Showing checksums and more directory size and number of files
  • Could sort cloud drive files based on time stamps
I just recommended it to a friend last night! It is perfect for my use and it is what I was looking for.

  • I havent found any issues so far

I used it daily to backup both my personal and consulting files. I love the automated nature of the software as it allows me to ensure that any work product I am currently working on is being updated without me needing to manually initiate the back-up.
  • Automate back-up
  • Seamless IDrive access and capability
  • Ability to have multiple devices backed up with information easily accessed.
  • Update pf GUI to a more modern look
If you are looking to use and forget for backing up your files, IDrive is for you. With both a generous online storage plus local backup, it allows you access your data whatever setting you are currently working in.

Offsite storage and disaster recovery solution for raw files and databases.
  • Cost of storage versus solutions like Google or CrashPlan
  • Capabilities to capture real time changes
  • Versioning capabilities
  • IDrive client bandwidth throttling does not control upload and is not granular enough to allow proper configuration.
  • IDrive client time elapsed and time estimates do not include days complete or remaining
  • IDrive support responds with canned or automated message not directly related to feedback/requests/concerns.
If your SMB is need of DR solution, IDrive provides a cost effective solution against the competition. IDrive has options such as versioning and real-time backup.

While I would love to use iIDrive Online Backup and Object Storage, I have not been able to do a complete backup since I bought the product. I called tech support multiple times and they finally escalated the issue. It's been a month and despite constant asking for an update, they have done nothing. They just keep telling me that they are working on it. The most important file for me to backup is my Outlook .pst file and it will not work. It's only 4GB. At this point, I have to go elsewhere because I want that file backed up.
  • Small files back up
  • Tech support is available 24/7
  • interface is easy
  • In my experience, If you have a file larger than 4 GB, good luck.
  • I feel that tech support sends canned responses
  • It's my belief that if you have a problem, tech support may never help you
IDrive Online Backup and Object Storage is not useful for me at all. I need a backup system that can actually back up my files. And they have been stringing me along with tech support for weeks. I don't expect to receive a resolution.

I use IDrive Online Backup and Object Storage for comprehensive online backup of important data that I generate. This addresses the problem of a one-step backup and imaging solution in the Cloud instead of local solutions. I use this as a comprehensive solution for retention of backup data off-site.
  • Ease of use
  • Set and forget
  • restoration of date from off-site source
  • Better backup speed to the Cloud
  • Clarification of throttle settings
  • Further explanation of restoration function before it is needed
IDrive Online Backup and Object Storage is well suited for backups in the Cloud for small companies, but may be less appropriate for larger companies.

Pros and Cons of iDrive

The goal is to backup all ongoing work on a constant basis, to avoid loss due to technical problems and man made errors, to facilitate online exchange and communication. iDrive is a simple, efficient and secure tool, easy to understand and to handle. Encryption is good, speed is missing if you have huge data to upload. The downside is the potential cost if you go over the plan quota. Customer service is fast and efficient. So far we are all very satisfied.
  • Convenient for storing all kind of files
  • Quick retrieval during restores
  • Very cost effective
  • IDrive server sometimes slow
  • Over limit charges unclear
  • All functions on PC and mobile device should match
iDrive was easy and fast to setup. At the moment I am using it mainly for personal reasons, but looking for the right time to use it simultaneously, in the office and at home. It is suited for for someone who looks for a lokal backup for unlimited devices for up to 5 TB per account. I chose a promotion of 24.88 US for the first year. This is an excellent value and gives me plenty of time to evaluate it. Beside occasionally slow upload speed I didn’t come across disadvantages so far.

I use IDrive Online Backup and Object Storage to daily backup all of my business and personal files. I like to have the ability to find old files that might have been accidentally deleted. The backup is easy to set up and implement. The security of knowing my files are safe is very important to me.
  • Daily backup
  • Easy to use
  • Easy to access files from past backups
  • Reasonable price
  • I just realized that there was no backup done for 13 days, and I would have liked to have received an email or other notification
IDrive Online Backup and Object Storage is especially suited to my business and personal uses since I regularly make changes in old files and constantly create new ones. Since it backs up automatically, I am assured that old and new files will be saved.
If someone does not have as many files as I do or doesn't make as many changes, they might not need IDrive Online Backup and Object Storage.

I use it as a cloud based synched storage so that I can access creative files on a any number of devices. iDrive has solved the issue of Adobe Creative Cloud discontinuing cloud synch for it's storage. I rely heavily (almost daily) on having creative assets available to use when I need them. I am also looking at a robust and secure platform for a backup.
  • Speed
  • Intuitive UI
  • Ease of use
  • I feel the dashboard can be a bit cleaner
  • poor aesthetics
Ideally suited for my daily videos. Using phone to shoot, upload to iDrive cloud and then retrieve to edit in Premiere Pro on desktop. Encoded back to the iDrive cloud and then posted via phone. I haven't really come across or experienced any scenarios that iDrive would prove to be less than appropriate.

Being within media production I generate a lot data, I backup locally to a Synology NAS but needed to have an offsite backup solution in place, having run out of space on Google Workspace and not having the option to upgrade my storage there without significant cost I decided to move my backup to IDrive Online Backup and Object Storage. It took 3 or 4 days to back up the first time, which is completely understandable. Now it's in place it backs up my data twice a day and gives me peace of mind knowing that my backup strategy is solid. It's just been running happily in the background ever since the initial installation (which was easy, they have an app for Synology). Easy, works great, can access anywhere, they have phone apps and desktop apps... Very good would recommend.
  • Easy to set up
  • Hands off NAS backup
  • Notifications
  • Access Everywhere
  • Would like to see favourites in the desktop and mobile apps
  • UI on desktop app could be improved, larger icons and type
It's great for backing up a NAS and sharing files and great value for money.

The product is used as my offline backup of my personal NAS.
My NAS crashed and I lost all my data. It was a time consuming recovery which I refuse to allow to happen again. My home system backups go to the NAS, along with music and family photos and videos. Once a month I backup to iDrive.
The monthly backup is sufficient.
  • Backing up my data from my Home based NAS
  • Scheduleing of monthly backups
Backing up your data unattended and storing off-site is excellent
Able to access my files on the NAS DIRECTLY, would be better than currently access through a mapped drive

IDrive's software works seamlessly across all my computers and the initial file upload went smoothly. I'd like if I could choose specific files not to sync, but with 5TB of storage, it doesn't really matter--there's room for everything. I used to use a competitor but the software became buggy with the new Mac update. So far, I'm really happy with the switch and plan to be an IDrive customer for a long time.
  • Store files
  • Download files
  • Software
  • Choosing specific files to upload or download (instead of just folders)
IDrive is well suited to back up personal and business files up to 5TB. It's been helpful in making sure all of my documents are constantly backed up without me worrying about it, and it's also been useful having cloud back-ups of various film projects. We have the projects backed up on physical drives as well, but the cloud storage makes us feel extra secure.

We use IDrive for all our offsite backup needs, whether backing up or NAS or individual workstations. It works across network drives and has local application support for Synology and other NAS Operating systems which has been very beneficial from a workflow and efficiency process as we moved our data to a NAS based infrastructure. Instant email updates on scheduled tasks and faultless reliability along with excellent value for money. This provides us with an easily accessible offsite store of our important data, in the case of an emergency or even simple accidental deletes by employees it gives us peace of mind. It means even if all of our infrastructure fails on site, or is stolen or damaged, we still have a copy of our data safe in the cloud.
  • Local backups
  • NAS applications
  • Value for money
  • Reliability
  • Switching from the old platform to the new one has always been an issue, not a problem for new users though I believe.
  • Having to upgrade to a higher tier to get new special offer upgrade deals
  • The interface can be a bit slow sometimes on lower powered NAS devices I've found.
  • If there are two scheduled backups of the same data they will run concurrently and slow each other down in my opinion.
It scales well from the individual to corporate environments with many different plans to suit your needs and budget. For backing up servers such as Exchange or SQL I've used their sister product iBackup, which is also excellent and we have no problems with, so maybe they should merge the two products into one which would make it a better overall proposition. It also seems to handle backing up mapped drives as well, which is what we used for a while before getting the on server version. That being said it can use up quite a bit of bandwidth so make sure you schedule at night when noone is working. However it does only backup changed files which is great.

We use iDrive for image backups, and incremental backups, both local and to an encrypted cloud. We do system state backups for our server, and we support 30+ other customers with their iDrive accounts. We've had to restore data in the past due to ransomware attacks, data loss, and employee errors and it has never failed us. With any backup solution, it's integral to verify backup integrity often.
  • Automated Backups
  • Error Reporting
  • Recovery Speed
  • Customer Service (Phone)
  • Email Reporting
  • Backup Failure Explanations
It is best suited for anyone that needs daily data backups. I don't have a lot of confidence in the real-time data backup, only because it is not something that is highlighted in the sales materials or easy to find in the software.

I have used IDrive for several years on both my business and personal computers at home and office. I use IDrive as insurance against any type of computer hack, failure, incursion or undetected defect. I know my files and docs are safely stored in the Cloud, and if I have any problems or severe threats, I feel IDrive has my back.
  • Super easy to download, setup, set preferences and key account settings.
  • The first back-up took all night, but after that the back-ups are quick, seamless, and always on-time per my preferernces.
  • I love the confirmations and details on each and every back-up start-up and completion. Very informative and reassuring.
  • Very easy to get back anything that I may forgotten to save or replace during the work.
  • Can't think of anything negative at this time! Thank you IDrive!
I don't use IDrive for any back-up on my cell phones, but for my personal laptop and business desktop, I think the service is wonderful, runs behinds the scenes perfectly, does the back-up when and now I want/need it, and then confirms that each and every back-up either was success or for some reason did not complete. But 99.9% of the time the back-up was successful and it lets me know.

IDrive is used to backup all personal devices for a single user securing their data. This includes Windows, Linux, Android and iOS devices. Besides, IDrive Cloud is used to synchronize the personal documents and photos between all desktop devices. Besides, the IDrive Cloud makes these files available on mobile devices as well.
  • Apps for multiple platforms: at least Windows, Linux, Android and iOS.
  • Lots of storage for a low price
  • Elaborate FAQ on their website
  • Centralized management of backups for all devices in the web interface
  • User Interface feels slow (both the app and web dashboard)
  • A lower tier Personal plan would be welcome
  • No Paypal payment
IDrive did not work on one of my Linux machines, but it did work perfectly on all other platforms.
IDrive is perfectly suited for someone who wants one solution to backup all their devices across different operating systems. Other solutions typically support less operating systems, so you would need to purchase multiple backup programs. Besides, IDrive combines the backup software with cloud storage for files and synchronization between devices, a feature that not many backup services offer. The amount of storage you get for your money is also very competitive (at the moment of writing). Therefore, IDrive is perfect for a personal user with many (different) devices.

On the other hand, I am not sure if IDrive offers automated install and script support for managing backups. I reckon this would be vital for larger organizations that have many machines. Perhaps those should consider a more specialized backup solution geared towards their specific needs. Still, they should definitely consider IDrive.

I use this to back up my laptop. This is a fast easy way to get all my files backed up when I need to switch to a new laptop. Unfortunately, IT no longer allows this to work as of a few days ago. I think they changed the firewall settings and it is not on the approved list for use by employees.
  • Backup of hard drive
  • Back up on a schedule
  • Recovering files
  • It was helpful but didn't solve all my issues
  • The interface could be more user friendly
  • The desktop app could have a better user experience
Great for personal backup and I will use it for this on my home computers. However, if you work in corporate you will need to make sure that your company allows this system to work on your company laptops. This worked for a while and then it was blocked by the IT system

I was a user of Backblaze for over 5 years, but it didn't play well with backing up external drives. It seems that Backblaze deliberately throttles the upload speeds for external devices and it would take weeks for a single backup of 1 TB of content from an external device.

When I heard about IDrive and the way they structured their plans I was interested in trying it out due to the cost benefits, but after the initial backup, which was night and day different from Backblaze, I was sold.

The other annoying thing that Backblaze would do is delete backups from external devices if they weren't connected in 30 days. This would make things like going on extended vacation stressful, which is so stupid.

Additionally IDrive made it easy to backup multiple computers, and this was another thing that Backblaze charged extra for, even though it didn't work well.

So if you're like me and need to backup multiple computers and external devices, this is the best option available as of July 2023.
  • Backing up external devices
  • Backing up multiple computers
  • Fast upload speeds
  • I wish there was a personal plan with more storage than 5 TB
IDrive is great for personal backup, especially for people who work with music or video and have multiple external devices where that content lives.

Storage for this quantity of storage is often very expensive if you store it somewhere like Dropbox, but it is not accessible enough at places like Backblaze.

IDrive makes it easy to backup content of this type without creating many headaches. I also like that the agent that lives on the computer is very light weight and doesn't use a lot of computer processing power.

I am using the 10TB yearly personal plan. My main use of the IDrive service is data backup and syncing across multiple computers. Although the backup process could be made faster, the subscription plan is absolutely worth the value for all the features it provides. In my work, I usually deal with TBs of data and I need the data stored forever. It has many tools to manage scheduling and error handling. It uses 256-bit encryption which is relatively secure, and it gives the user the option to have their own encryption as well.
  • Its desktop application has a lot of handy tools accessible.
  • Provides a lot of storage.
  • Data archiving seems to be quite good.
  • Making the backup process a bit faster especially when dealing with a large number of files.
It's very useful for storing large amounts of data and when the user only needs to access the data from time to time rather than real-time access. The tools available in its desktop application are intuitive and easy to use.
