Igloo has proven to be a valuable tool for organizations looking to improve communication and collaboration among team members. Users have found that by centralizing all communications in one platform, productivity has increased significantly. This is especially beneficial for employees working outside the office as it allows them to stay connected and engaged with their colleagues. With each department having its own page or hub in Igloo, organizations are able to store useful templates, links, and share updates and metrics with the rest of the company. Additionally, Igloo functions as a social media platform where users can post updates about new employees, upcoming events, and good news in both personal and work lives. The software also serves as a reliable archive for important records, enabling multiple people and departments to contribute and access documents remotely.

Based on user reviews, the following recommendations emerge for Igloo:

View company announcements with ease and is cost-effective, and a user-friendly/collaborative tool for us to use. With excellent support from their team to ensure that any challenges/difficulties we face will be resolved immediately. Very smooth and the integration process was fairly simple and quick. It has also helped the day-to-day responsibilities easier.

Igloo has helped my organization to promote communication and better collaboration between employees and customers. It allows a better flow of communication across the organization and has helped me better manage my day-to-day processes.
  • Allows communication and information to be shared internally
  • Assists in knowledge management
  • Assists in organizational culture
  • Single access point for all employees to access internal information
  • Better process management
  • A little complex for new users
  • Customer support may take a while to get back
  • More functions on the UI
Amazing software that helps with information sharing with clients and collaboration across various parties. All the information is in an organized manner which allows the flow of information to be concise and precise so as to stop any bad information to pass through. Cost-effective and generally there's always support from the team.

We use Igloo as our company's intranet. It's useful but complex. We have an FTE dedicated to managing Igloo b/c of how heavily we use the system. The system lacks some of the features that you'd expect from an intranet such as an instant messaging feature.
  • Cloud based
  • Centralized resources
  • Version history
  • Instant messaging
  • Complicated notification settings
  • Redundant sections
Igloo works well if you have a decentralized company that needs to house information in the cloud to collaborate. It's particularly useful when you're in various locations. The search feature to reference past discussions or topics is quite limited. It's definitely not Google level. You have to punch in the exact name of the item you're looking for to have it show up in the search.

Igloo was mainly used to improve communication between team members, to share files and to schedule meetings across the IT Department. We try to centralize all communications in one robust and reliable platform so productivity can be significantly increased. For employees that work outside the office, Igloo software is very useful, too.
  • Very easy to use - initial configuration and daily use are very smooth.
  • Theme customization by changing CSS code, logo, colors, header, footer, etc.
  • Free version for product evaluations and pilot projects up to 10 users.
  • Clean interface - Good UI and UX.
  • File sharing, meetings schedulement, forums and tasks control for teams
  • Pricing can lead to high costs.
  • Users without CSS knowledge may have a hard time to customize themes. Maybe more graphical options to change layouts would be nice.
  • NO SSO and LDAP authentication methods available in the basic version.
  • Languages support in the basic version.
Igloo is a well-suited option for teams/companies that want to build an employee intranet with some other interesting features, like file storage and sharing, internal communications, and resource and knowledge management. All of these features may help your workers increase productivity significantly by centralizing everything in one robust and reliable platform. However, it can be less appropriate if costs are a problem for you, due to the pricing. So, if you will not be using several features and just want an intranet for you company, you may want to go with another solution.

My whole company uses Igloo and it serves many purposes.

Each department has their own page or hub where they store useful templates and links for their own use. They also post updates and metrics that the rest of the company can use to see how that department is performing and what is new with them. The department pages are also used to share documents with the rest of the company like PPT templates or records of completed projects.

We also use Igloo as a social media platform. We post updates about new employees, upcoming events, and good news in people's personal lives as well as their work. In addition, we use Igloo for archiving of important records. We can have multiple people and departments contribute and we can access the documents remotely if needed.

  • Notifications: Igloo can push email updates to users.
  • Organization: Igloo allows for you to create pages, sub pages, and many layer deep sections. You can also organize the layout of your pages.
  • Versioning: it's super easy to reserve and edit documents for offline use. And you can see who last edited a document and when.
  • Offline access: there's a desktop version you can use very easily. It's really good for dropping a bunch of files at once.
  • Search: It's like the early days of the internet with there search. Once I was told there was a form to use our gym somewhere on Igloo. I searched each key word I could think of and each time needed to wait several seconds for results to load. Large number of results would come up and none were relevant. It was a mess.
  • Upload: Something very funny happens every time I try to add documents using the desktop version. About half of the time instead of copying what I want it to, it copies a document I haven't opened in about a year. It's really an impressive and confusing bug.
  • Logging in: I need to login to the desktop version every time I want to access anything (web version doesn't have this issue).
Igloo is really great for giving your organization access to the latest version of documents and templates. It's also great for organizing and versioning shared resources. It can also be customized for your organization in terms of sections, page layout, color scheme, branding, etc.

It's not so great for search or for offline use.

Overall I'd highly recommend it.

We've only just started using Igloo as a portal to support our international partners. We are located in New Zealand and our partners are located in the USA. Igloo provides a platform for us to share files and production notes so that our partners can see how our products should be assembled. We use the blogging function mostly.
  • Creating a knowledge base of information to share with others
  • Linking files to blog/information pages
  • File version control
  • User Interface
  • Task management
We use Igloo as a platform to share information among teams across different countries. We link production (printing) instructions with the production files so that the manufacturers have the most up to date version. This works really well.

Igloo is used across the whole company as our Intranet. It helps us organize key information we want everyone to be able to access, and helps our virtual organization stay connected.
  • Easy to set-up
  • Easy to navigate
  • Strong customer support
  • Highly customizable
  • I'd like more page layout options (not just the 3 columns).
Well suited for companies of all sizes. I can't think of a scenario where it wouldn't be appropriate.

Igloo was being utilized across our organization by executives, corporate leadership, and property-level managers.
  • Igloo gives you great customization abilities and really fits the need for small communication bursts to important company-wide announcements — when their UI was not getting in the way.
  • Igloo offers a lot of "bells and whistles" if you need them. But it was hard for these small, nonessential elements to not get in the way of the overall purpose of its use.
  • Their sales team was spectacular. But their implementation team was hit or miss. Only one or two people I was able to connect with were both knowledgeable and quickly responsive.
  • Their UI is not used-friendly. Their use of Igloo-specific terminology made it difficult to understand how each function of the site worked. They would repeatedly say, for example, "a ___ is really a ___" vs. just calling it what the function actually is.
  • Implementation was a far cry from their sales support. After basically nickel-and-diming you for everything, they - very poorly - cap your use of their implementation support team.
  • Overall, Igloo didn't work for our organization because they do multiple things decently vs a few things excellently. The experience with Igloo was unremarkable.
Igloo is probably not a good fit for professional organizations who are looking to build a "intranet" experience.
