It is our Enterprise Resource Planning for the entire company. All companies business wide are using Infor Adage. The business problem it solves is that it runs our business. From inventory levels, to purchase orders, to taking orders, to customers it solves/manages everything. The only department that does use Infor Adage is Human Resources.
  • Stability, it reminds of a old COBOL system found in plants. It just runs and never stops.
  • Established, Infor Adage made an A grade platform.
  • Support, even though Infor Adage is not supporting it anymore, other companies are still developing add ons for it.
  • Looks, Infor Adage looks as old as it is, no way to sugar coat it.
  • Interface, same as looks. The interface is clunky compared to other ERPs.
  • Reporting, it comes with zero reports. You have to make them all from scratch.
If you are a manufacturer that has a ERP that is MUCH older then Infor Adage might be a good solution. It works, has add ons out there and it uses a SQL backend so your IT team, depending on the personnel, could churn out some reports quickly. I wouldn't recommend it as an upgrade but more as a replacement.

  • It helped us run this long and remain profitable due to its accurate and reliable operation.
  • Negative is that since support ended we are stuck with a system that will become more antiquated over time.
  • We have been able to stretch functionality with great 3rd party add ons and enhancements.
  • ROI for Infor Adage was very short considering it's initial cost.
I was not here for when Adage was introduced but I can say having had experience with Oracle I can say that it can hold its own. When it gets down to, Adage is easier and cheaper to maintain then other ERP's. It can do the same tasks other ERP's can do and does them well.

Adage runs our three divisions, we manage all of our business including purchasing, inventory, and financials. EDI and Freight systems are add-ins. We rely on it extensively to manage our business.
  • Adage is excellent at inventory management, it can easily manage multiple division and complex transfers. It keeps good records.
  • The package is seamless, and the operator sees a unified interface. Once they learn the way to work with the system, learning other parts of the package becomes self-intuitive.
  • Being developed in SQL server makes it easy to develop custom reporting and business dashboards for analytics. Development tools and people are readily available.
  • Infor has moved onto their new manufacturing package, so they have slowed in their development of Adage, and the user interface is a bit dated, but functional. It could use a technical refresh on the operator screens and access. It is not web based.
  • Integration with EDI is weak. There is poor support for ASNs (Advanced Ship Noticies) and freight management has to be brought in from the outside.
  • Security takes a while to update and administer.
It is a factory process ERP suitable for flow manufacturing, perhaps the best in its class for functionality and value. Great for medium sized manufacturers.. especially food manufacturers.

  • It's scaled well with our company, and we haven't seen the need to switch packages, it works well for us.
  • Our IT staff doesn't spend time fighting application or data failures, it's a clean running package (we have an IT staff of 3).
  • We can get our work done, and it handles business loads well.
Adage is much cheaper to operate, scales well, and just keeps running smoothly. Doesn't require a huge support staff.
