Insightly is managed by our sales manager, who has access to the piplelines and opportunities for all our sales staff.

He can use this to make sure the company is uniform in its process and everyone is held accountable. It also allows us to see the stages of sales and see outstanding tasks should someone be ill and not be able to follow up appropriately
  • Kanban management system.
  • Ease of use
  • Integration with other platforms such as Xero and Slack
  • Best implementations were only recently added.
  • Really annoying that you cant create a new organization when creating a new opportunity.
Ideal for a variety of businesses but lacks any usable metrics or analytics when it comes to sales performance.

  • Increased Sales
  • Improved efficiency
  • Centralized contact management
We definitely have improved in our uniformity, although it may be slightly clunky to create and allocate tasks.
Haven't used other CRMs.

We use it as a lite CRM to keep track of contacts, leads, and opportunities. We also use it to keep on top of client work so the executive team can quickly see high-level what's going on with each client.
  • Keep track of contacts
  • Filter views
  • Customer support
  • Flexibility with customizing
  • Overall "bugginess" - meaning it's slightly glitchy
  • Think more logically about target screens that load once something is refreshed or updated
Insighly would be good for a medium size organization that is looking for affordability over functionality. It would be less suited for an organization that values the ability to modify the software to their needs in very specific ways (like fully integrating Insightly tasks into project management).

  • Streamlined business processes
Insightly has not necessarily streamlined business processes as much as it allows the account management team lead to review all accounts at a bird's eye view. But overall it adds a layer to our work that is burdensome. It is not the most streamlined experience that it could be.
  • Trello and Pipedrive
I think that sales software should take sales behavior into account when setting up the UI. Pipedrive and Trello are great because they use Kanban style progress visuals, i.e. the movement of cards through a process from left to right. Trello is great because it can also be used for project management in a much stronger way. Pipedrive is a much more intuitive and helpful interface for keeping track of sales funnel and setting reminders for touch points with leads.

I implement Insightly CRM and integrated products for businesses of all sizes. Use cases for each client varies quite a bit. I have implemented Insightly for real estate agencies, manufacturers, distributors, consultants, and service-based businesses. Sometimes we use all the modules Insightly offers: Leads, Contacts, Organizations, Opportunities and Project Management. Depending on our client's needs, we may use only Contacts. Overall, Insightly is flexible enough to meet most needs and wants considering their API is built out very well and ecosystem of integrated products is growing bigger and bigger every day.
  • The software has a great price point, rich with features, quick to setup, great support included, and easy to use, so you will get a fast ROI.
  • As I stated before their API is built out very well and the ecosystem of integrated products is growing bigger and bigger everyday. This allows you to diversify your software investments and scale with Insightly.
  • The direction of the company is on a good path. About four or five years ago they became known as the #1 CRM on the GSuite (formerly known as Google Apps for Work) marketplace, and with their new Office 365 integration -which is about on par with their GSuite integration- who knows what achievements Insightly will make next!
  • Lastly, Insightly has impressive security and privacy protocols for a small to mid-sized business CRM software, which is absolutely necessary for protecting your customer's data. Go here for more information on their security and compliance features: https://www.insightly.com/product/security-and-compliance/
  • More information on Insightly's "cons" along with their planned updates can be found here on the community's Ideas & Suggestions page: https://support.insight.ly/hc/en-us/community/topics/200181344-Ideas-Suggestions?sort_by=votes
  • There are some fundamentals that still need to be addressed, most importantly, a backup and restore function. Although, they do have open API, so with a little extra work you can fill in that missing part. I recently wrote an article entitled, 5 Best Practices for Insightly CRM. Here I address some of the gaps in their software and what can be done to overcome these issues: https://www.insightly.com/blog/5-best-crm-practices-for-insightly-part-1/
Insightly is a horizontal market CRM meaning you can apply the software to practically any business in any industry with the right configurations and integrations. The main focus, of course, is on building relationships. Insightly does very well in this area and includes everything most sales teams need to scale and succeed. Insightly built out a kanban view recently in their new UI, so they are expanding the project management part of the software. As a consultant who implements Insightly and acts as a project leader, I would love to see more project management features like Gantt charts, merging tasks, customer portal, etc. as it would make my job a little easier servicing my clients. Insightly is not going to be a perfect fit for everyone, so do your research, talk to a subject matter expert, and check their use cases page here: https://www.insightly.com/customers/

As an Insightly CRM expert I want to provide the community and my clients with unparalleled value especially when it comes to implementing their software. For example, I would love to see Insightly build out the API's system setting objects, so we can quickly create instances of Insightly to include workflows, custom fields, reports, etc. specific to the new user's industry. If we can easily replicate implementations with industry specific templates, we can lower costs and speed up the ROI time for most new users.
When it comes to customization (not configuration) Insightly does not compare because it does not offer that option. This is the single biggest differentiator between Insightly and these enterprise level CRM systems. When it comes to budget, setup time, and user adoption rates, I imagine Insightly would be much more favorable.
