What is Sage Intacct?

Sage Intacct is a cloud-based financial accounting software system with functionalities for small to mid-sized businesses. Sage Intacct delivers an array of core accounting applications such as a general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and order management to any accounting department or finance team. It also supports functionality for built-in dashboards, real time reporting, time and expense management, project accounting, revenue management, and global consolidations for multiple entities.

With an open API structure, Sage Intacct’s accounting solution also provides integration with any CRM, payroll, POS, or ERP system such as Salesforce, and ADP.

I think Intacct is well-suited for small, and mid-sized organizations. It's very clean and easy to use. It organizes the data afterward very well, making it easy to search through records or display your entries in reports. Intacct is also fairly good at automating the accounting function as a whole. I think Intacct would be less appropriate when used for much larger organizations as I find certain areas of Intacct can be slow if you have a lot of customers, or if you want data to go from one module to another quickly (e.g. AP Bills --> Prepaids module requires a 5-minute wait).

Sage Intacct is well-suited for our small company. We heard that is was for larger, multi-entity companies, but we were highly impressed with its capabilities that we chose Sage Intacct anyways. Sage Intacct provides us with everything we need and room to grow. Our goal in implementing Sage Intacct was to get our finances organized in order to provide for transparency and various projections. We are three years in and are still learning new things! The sky is the limit for what we can do with the system. I would say that if we were a smaller company I feel like the cost would outweigh the benefit. Not to say that Sage Intacct is expensive, but I think smaller companies lose access to it because they just wouldn't use it enough. Sage Intacct is also best used with one or more third-party connections (AMEX, Expensify, etc.) so I don't think a small company looking only for accounting software only would benefit.

If you are doing accounting for several companies it is really simple to use Intacct because you don't need to switch back and forth between your companies, saves a lot of time and energy. However, if you have to have an audit trail for some of the transactions you won't have it because you can delete the transactions and once you are done it is gone, nowhere to be found.

I have experienced excellent financial management reports from the performance of this product. It has developed a great culture of reliability and contributed to faster Returns on Investment. There is no doubt when purchasing this product since the vendor has developed an effective system that offers solutions to most challenges facing companies. I have not experienced any drawback from its services.

We were able to upload documents and data in bulk. The tool can manage your company's account and keep track of all the expenses with its integration. It saves a lot of time in automating the Financial stuff and making sure that all the organization's policies are met.

Cloud services for project management and also project budgeting using Sage Intacct are perfect. The marketing Automation capability that Sage Intacct provides and very easy solution to manage and generate leads and easy to build valuable business reports. Sage Intacct tracking ability is good and has excellent stable features for easy data import.

It is best suited in bulk financial projects which need proper inventory management, vendor management and financial accounting. It allows cross dimensional analysis of customized reports which helps in better reporting and management that too with minimum efforts makes it a great tool in the market.

It is less suited for users who are not trained as it is a complex tool. It requires training to get used to it.

I feel like Intacct is for true Accounting and Finance professionals, not for novice entry-level bookkeeping. You definitely need to know your debits and credits, as most entries seem to be recorded as journals (which, technically you could book all of your accounting in this fashion, however, other softwares makes the interface much more user-friendly). My company switched from QuickBooks Enterprise due to limitations (assuming from intercompany transactions), so I could see where Intacct has the upper hand, depending on your software needs.

One of the advantages of Sage Intacct is that it made our financial processes much easier and smoother. It is one of the best and most secure applications I have ever used and I love the ease of correcting entries. The availability of a customer support team is an added advantage.

Sage Intacct is well suited for:

  1. Consolidating financial statements
  2. Automating reportings
  3. Creating a custom dashboard for KPI Reviews
  4. Uploading timesheets
  5. Keeping a track of all the expenses
  6. Project planning and budget stipulation
I believe that these scenarios are well suited for Sage Intacct. One that I like the most is keeping a track of all expenses and the cash flow management feature where I can easily see what's happening in a single view.

I think like software it gets the accounting done, but it is not very user-friendly. This software is not for entry-level accounting/finance persons. As a seasoned Accountant, I'm even struggling with navigating to basic reports, such as P&L from X-date to X-date. Like why is such a standard reporting option not easily available? I do like that there are a lot of data classification choices, which makes exporting the data and analyzing it through pivot tables (for example) much better. The data collected within Intacct is better than other softwares I've used.

Sage Intacct is great for medium to large businesses, and certainly for non-profits. It provides all the benefits of a cloud-based solution, with both core modules and additional function-specific modules to accommodate any need, as well as API support that allows utilization of other 3rd party platforms needed to optimize the client's eco-system. It supports multi-entity environments and is scalable and customizable to support the growth and change of any organization. Sage Intacct is a superior accounting solution for any entity, but may not be as cost-effective for small companies.

Sage Intacct feels like an extension to Salesforce. The integration is seamless and many of the UI elements are similar. Sage Intacct is an obvious improvement compared to Xero and Quickbooks. It is also a more user-friendly tool compared to equivalent tools like Oracle NetSuite. The help menu is very friendly and each help page is customized for the configuration currently deployed in your environment.

If you are an organization that has multiple users, appreciate being able to leverage dashboards, etc. then Sage Intacct is right for you. It represents a significant upgrade over using a basic system like Excel. I really think the benefit outweighs the cost unless you are a very small organization.

As a non-profit, we use sage to manage all incoming finance data. We feed to and from Salesforce using a Scribe integration and it all functions rather seamlessly. If you're unable to put resources towards it, it may not be a good fit as it does require some level of troubleshooting from time to time.
