What is Sage Intacct?

Sage Intacct is a cloud-based financial accounting software system with functionalities for small to mid-sized businesses. Sage Intacct delivers an array of core accounting applications such as a general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and order management to any accounting department or finance team. It also supports functionality for built-in dashboards, real time reporting, time and expense management, project accounting, revenue management, and global consolidations for multiple entities.

  • Automate the accounting function.
  • Allows you to visualize your data/inputs easily through the Reports feature.
  • Has a very easy-to-follow interface.
  • I find that there are usually some delays from some modules to others (e.g. posting a prepaid through AP Bills will take about 5 minutes before you see it in the Prepaids module. The same goes for Fixed Assets.
  • Having a more simple report-writer function. The current one is a bit complex for new users to create their own custom reports.

  • Accounts Payable: we can see purchasing documents working their way through the approval process so we can project our upcoming payouts
  • General Ledger: up-to-date accounting for budgeting purposes
  • Custom Reporting: we can run ANY report we want, from various account groupings to customized date ranges
  • Cloud-based service with multiple partners to create a well-rounded, one-stop-shop for finance and accounting
  • We use Purchasing to allow our individual departments to enter their own invoices, including coding and memos. However, if the Purchasing Document is incorrect, the approver can only decline it and the submitter must re-enter the Purchasing Document again, as opposed to just updating the submission.
  • We also use third-party software for Sales Entry, which allows our employee users to input their own invoices for accounts receivable. Because it is a third-party software, there have been no updates to the app, and we are running into issues where not all Sales Entries will process. Sales Entry is also tricky when it comes to using "&" signs or other symbols.
  • We must convert PRs into bills to be paid. This process takes 6-8 clicks per PR/invoice, which wastes time for our Accounts Payable individual.

  • The new bank reconciliation is ridiculously complicated. It seems like its been designed by a software engineer not an actual user. Too many options to choose and so many buttons to push. We all prefer the current one.

  • Availability of many customizable reports for all different needs and all members of the company.
  • Sage Intacct has a very high customizable dashboard and I truly enjoy working with it.
  • Flexibility and ability to handle enterprise amount of PO's.
  • The reason why we migrated away from QuickBooks is that Sage Intacct can handle our higher volume of invoices each week.
  • I don't like the fact that there is no direct integration with Salesforce.
  • Sage Intacct's cost is high.

  • Real-time view of data for leadership team via dashboards and reports
  • Financial reports require a serious learning curve. They are not for the faint-hearted. They are very powerful in what can be designed, but there ought to be some standard default formats for printing that are flexible and elegant. I print a lot of reports and spend a lot of time on just formatting. It looks like little thought was given towards default formats. Online HTML reports can look great, but printing them often does not look as elegant.
  • Custom reports require a HUGE learning curve to discover where desired data resides and are frustrating with every encounter. Creating a report requires you [to] SAVE the report before ever being able to see the final product to determine if it yields the desired result, and often requires rework or deletion of the report just created. There are many tables, and desired data is not always found where one would expect. I'm aware that the Interactive Custom Report Writer (ICRW) addresses this by showing tables and data in a visual format that allows [for] elegant creation of pivot tables, etc. [It is an] awesome solution, but [their] pricing is prohibitive. ICRW functionality should be included in the core module.
  • Some reports can be created by duplicating an existing report, but some cannot. This needs to be consistent, like a "Save As" universal feature.
  • There is a feature that allows [the] printing of the company logo on printed reports. This is very nice. But in a multi-entity environment, I have to turn this feature off because there is only one logo that can be uploaded for the entire subscription package. I would like [to] be able to upload and store logos in [a] similar fashion as storing attachments, and then being able to print reports with entity-specific or department-specific logos.
  • I use pivot tables extensively. I would LOVE, LOVE to have an export option for a "flat file" - an unformatted CSV containing only a column header and raw rows and columns of data without grouping, summary, headers, or footers that allows IMMEDIATE creation of a pivot table without first scrubbing the file to eliminate empty rows and extraneous elements.
  • Please give a little more attention to [the] conventional printing of reports in general, [like] default formats that display elegantly and utilize space nicely. For example, the General Ledger report when printing straight to PDF does not automatically adjust column widths, although it does automatically scale to the page for printing. But because it does not adjust column widths, there is a lot of empty space between columns, thereby causing the font size to be smaller so the report fits on a page.

  • [An] audit trail [for] each [transaction] is very helpful for internal control and yearly audits.
  • [The] user rights and permissions feature is very helpful when you want to assign certain permission to use [for] maintaining the internal controls.
  • [The] document attachment feature [is] very [conducive in] reducing the paper cost in office and the storage costs out of office.
  • [The] bank reconciliation auto-matches with uploaded bank statements saves a lot of time.
  • If we [could] enter different date transactions in one transaction, it would be helpful [and] then we [wouldn't] have to open a new entry for every two-line transaction entry [since] all [could] be added into one entry.
