We use Jamf Pro to manage all the Macs and some iOS devices in our organization. We have employees onsite and remote - Jamf Pro gives us the flexibility to manage these devices from anywhere.

Jamf Pro allows us to maintain consistent security standards across all our devices, as well as provide the support and maintenance our users need. This is largely transparent to the user, most of the time they don't even know it is there. When they do need to interact with Jamf Pro, it is very simple with tools such as Self Service and DEP that we can brand and customize for our users
  • Self-service allows our users to install software we have vetted and provide one click installation.
  • Jamf Pro can also utilize custom scripts, third party and open source tools customized branding, and extension attributes to gather additional inventory information.
  • In addition to excellent and timely assistance provided by the jamf support team, the Jamf Nation User Community is the top collection of Apple administrators in the world. This very active community shares open source tools, scripting assistance and both jamf and general assistance that is incomparable to anything else available to iOS/OSX admin.
  • Easy and user friendly UI.
Cons
  • Automated patch management is a "work in progress".
  • Bugs or product issues could be communicated more effectively - bug tracker
  • More company branding options
Jamf Pro is the leader in managing Apple's ecosystem. Easy to set up and deploy fast and at scale. One stop shop for managing Apple devices. Best in class for Mac and iOS management.

Great MDM

We are using Jamf Pro across the organization for all Mac users. It allows us to manage the computers in a great way while still giving the end users a good, empowered, experience. Self Service is a great tool for both end users and local it technicians. We can let end users run reinstalls and download new applications and technicians can get access to more advanced functionality.
  • Self-Service
  • Easy deployment
  • Day 0 support
Cons
  • Update management
Great for big enterprise. Perhaps a bit expensive for small companies

We use Jamf Pro to manage and support all the macOS and iOS devices on campus. It saves us so much time with the policies, automatic installations, and streamline of use and upkeep. I love it.
  • Support - the support team at Jamf has always been quick, and super helpful when needed. In addition to the team at Jamf, there is a huge support community of other Mac admins that always willing to help.
  • Ease of use. Once you get it set up it is so easy to maintain, add to, and expand.
  • The sheer amount of possibilities of what you can do.
Cons
  • Captioning on all their training.
  • An updated composer application.
  • More training opportunities.
We love Jamf Pro. I would say if you have a small number of Macs and iOS devices or do not have much of an IT department you may want to go another route (like Jamf Now). It has made management of the Apple devices here on campus quick and easy. It has automated a lot of our set up processes where a new Mac would take us ~3 hours to set up (not all hands on) now it takes us less than 30 minutes (most not hands on)! We have had time to start implementing things we have wanted to do but had not the time nor resources to do (make packages to install on an end user's machine that they can run themselves as one example).

We use Jamf to manage our fleet of about 2,000 laptops and desktops. Without Jamf Pro, we would need 5 more people minimum to give our end users the same level of support and ease of use. It is simply invaluable to us.

It is the jack of all trades tool that allow us the flexibility to turn on a dime.
  • Flexible Toolset
  • Incredible Support
  • Constantly Evolving
Cons
  • Test releases more throughly
  • Communicate future development work
  • Involve end users in more focus groups before developing features
This product is fantastic for managing large fleets, but would be a bit overwhelming for smaller deployments.

Jamf Pro is used across our entire district. We use it go enroll and manage every Apple device in our environment. Jamf Pro allows us to customize our end-user experience so that the devices meets the needs of the teachers, support staff, and students as well as community-use computers for trainings and meetings. The ability to customize each device is a key element in making our end-users experience a pleasant one. Beginning from the login window with a custom message to the applications available as well as system preference settings that assist both the district and the end-user.
  • Gives us the ability to add and remove applications to specific subsets of computers or allow the end-user to install an application if they need it through Jamf's Self Service applicati
  • Allows us to manage specific groups of computers through configuration profiles that are easily edited and pushed out to the devices when a change is necessary.
  • Advanced searches provide easy access to detailed information based on the criteria chosen. We use these regularly for inventory reports and monitoring computer usage as well as verifying newly enrolled computers have specific applications, configuration profiles, and user field data which we used to create our SmartGroups.
  • SmartGroups allow us to scope to specific groups so that each end-user has the settings and applications that support their needs.
  • JamfNation: Where an entire world of JAMF users are there to give you additional support, suggestions, and advice.
Cons
  • Documentation on building JAMF Pro User Group: Specifics to what checking a box allows the end-user to do? There is a bit of trial and error when giving specific rights to a group. For example, if I have group of helpers that are assisting in a summer refresh of student computers they'll need some rights to JAMF to verify/correct the enrollment of the device.
  • Dashboard is very slow to load. I have removed all but a few items from the dashboard, but this did not affect the speed at which it load.
  • We rely heavily on configuration profiles in our student environments. Occasionally, a configuration profile will fail to install properly. We would love to see the ability to "retry" pushing the configuration profile to the devices that failed to receive the profile.
Our district has 16 sites with over 11,000 devices and our tech support team is small. Without Jamf Pro, we would not be able to keep up with the amount of updates, inventory, mapping of printers, specific customized settings, restrictions, and so many other tasks that support our endusers with teaching and learning.
